The amount of selfie mode is kind of why I get frustrated when i score low. When i vote, i hate to say it, most of the snaps dont look like they cared to put time into it and i guess i dont know how many are submitted but it doesn't seem like there are enough for my to be at the bottom after i did put time into it. Its never about feeling like mine is better than the high scores but more that i don't know how i can be so low when i only see the selfies and items thrown down type snaps. i don't care to vote too often most of the submissions i see are either selfies or the player just tossed down a half dozen or so items in the back, sometimes very far back, and took their shots. hardly any really put in any effort and may are just welcoming in a villager or from a quest i play a game called Hero Wars and every year for christmas they send all players diamonds, equivalent to moonstones currency, in the amount of the new year. so this year was 2025. which isn't really much give how much things cost but it's still very nice that they give that for free to all i never understood why we can't have rings on under our gloves. a necklace with a turtle neck, accessories with long sleeves. it makes no sense really that we can't double or triple up like that
I agree on the voting but I started voting more so that I can give boosts to the better shots and skip the others. That way people like me who put time into it are getting some votes and hopefully score better thanbi have been!
I think put a Ton of decor just to get their decor tags up to a certain amount aka someone voting/ looking at other vallies can tell that someone decorated their vallies even if stuff is the way back plus the camera can only show a certain number of items close up at one time the rest is pretty much gonna be in the far back either way regardless if it’s 100+ items or less also some of the decors are kind of hard to do if A person is limited what they can use for decor challenges
Also dream snaps kind of sometimes does allow stuff that doesn’t fit under a theme to still be a picture someone could have welcomed a new villager on new years or something like that
Also certain people don’t get every single new item in the game and the game doesn’t exactly really have very many new years items there’s like 1 new years bundle overall in the game and not everyone would have gotten those items. Plus 2 of the items are indoor items with the other 2 items being out door items Also certain photos could be new players trying their best with items that they do have in their inventory plus one certain items fallen under Certain cateogories for dream snaps Which isn’t easy for a person to follow the theme of a photo of they don’t have holiday themed items like a lot of the pumpkin for Halloween pictures are just someone with no holiday decor and the game still how allows pictures with no pumpkins to be a thing
Also the new years theme dream snap doesn’t make sense for any one to do right now since there’s only like 1 new years dream snap that gives you like 4 new years items with 2 of them Being placed indoors and 2 can be placed out doors people pretty much have to get creative with non new years themed item in order to do a new years photo with doesn’t make much sense for a new years photo it’s like someone not using pumpkins in a pumpkin themed dreamsnaps
If photos were not selfies, well photos, off theme I would vote more. I think I vote more than the average user but it gets tiring voting for well pic against well pic. Every once in a while I get to vote for a gem and get excited but its short lasted.

if you look at the examples for the the current challenge being voted on the example is selfie mode mostly if not all were i tend to avoid selfie for outfit challenges my self tho tbh. Edit: okay 3 out of the 5 are Selfie mode
People don't want to hear it, but I honestly worry the game is on the backburner for Gameloft. We know Gameloft Montreal is making a similar game to Dreamlight Valley, but set in the Dungeons & Dragons / Baldur's Gate 3 universe. Storybook Vale was beautiful, but as far as "new" stuff goes, it had a lot less than Eternity Isle. We're also getting 60+ day starpaths now and it feels like the gaps between content is growing larger and larger.
ive already shared my piece about the new dlc but i still cant get over how lacking it is with quests, compared to the first dlc. all the new villagers were connected and had stuff to do and the main story line ran for a good while, got a few hours out of it at least whilst the new dlc just drops you off and then youre stuck just lvling up the new people for quests and thats it. it costs just as much as the main game so i hope part 2 has more to offer and isnt just another 30-60 min conclusion and then we're done.
I dont know why so many people do selfies on an outfit challenge! I always try to show the whole outfit! I have done a sitting pose once or twice and those always score lower too.
When I did my Frosted Fashion DS, I didn’t put on “traditional” gloves because my counts showed “1” for “Gloves”. I had to wonder if they just gave us that one. If everyone votes based on optional gloves, I’m in trouble.
I feel that the quality of Dreamsnap photos impacts the voting quantity. Last week, so many weren’t on theme, I stopped checking photos throughout the week. This week, I’m wondering if we have a bunch of new players who got the game for Christmas.
it doesn't help that we had to submit snaps for the Star Path duties, but no duty for voting. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who took a nice Snap only to get it replaced by some mediocre picture later just for a duty.
Quality means crap, it's a popularity contest, I can try or not try and i still only get 100 to 300 a week, the menamal so I don't try anymore , and just get what I get, and I only vote now once a week to get the 50 ms for voting each week

Most of my votes are well pics and selfies. Quality means something. While I often see great pics get lower than I thought they would, I don't see well pics or off theme pics getting 4k. No one knows me and I'm not popular at all and I do well each week. Figuring out lighting and composition after watching videos on it and joining groups helped me a lot. I went from 300-600 to sometimes top 100. If you're feeling discouraged I would join some Dreamsnap groups and ask for advice. They are super nice and helped me so much. I know it gets frustrating but for the most part qualify matters.

One thing I hate since the story book expansion is getting mail from characters after completing quest that don’t even give you anything, all it does is waste your time opening it.
I’m not gonna download that background to my iPad. It would probably be hard to see my icons on that background. I kind of wish they had each one separated so we could choose a different one for dashboard and lockscreen on mobile devices.

i feel like thats how you end up with rushed dreamsnaps as well, people throwing something together to get the task done. i often dont have time or energy to participate and just wanna play the game when im on it so i sadly end up being one of those, but i try to at least be on theme; but theyre sloppy since i know theres at least one more of those pesky tasks coming up and i just wanna move on.

Men characters get lower score. It is sad that I can't enjoy the game as myself. I average 1k moonstones more a week by being a female putting a dress on vs an outfit that took work with the same background.

I won't vote when I get 2 like that. I click back and reload. We are all getting crappy results because of it so if it's not on theme in out.

It took me awhile to figure that out too. Selfie mode should not be the default in the first place.

I don't think selfie mode is that bad. Especially since the characters don't pose unless you are in selfie mode :S
Mobile players don’t have access to dream snaps and also this size is one of the sizes you can choose
Mobile Players do have access to Dreamsnaps. They are rewarded with coins instead of moonstones
