Tony Parker was such a unique player. He got to the paint whenever he wanted and scored over anyone. Had two signature moves: teardrop and spin move. Smaller players should always learn from his game.
Prime Tony Parker can go 1 on 1 with any point guard. Any ! He was that good. Even without the Spurs when he played for France he would get buckets and clutch buckets against anybody. Elite at driving into the paint and scoring. What a player.
And led the league in restricted area points i believe, multiple years. As a smaller point guard! Before the full on 3 point revolution, too, so most of the centers were still playing inside, most of the perimeter players were still mostly driving to the rim, and this man scored the most at the basket. Crazy.
Underrated and under appreciated thank you TP 🙏🏽 witnessed greatness in person plenty of times still haven’t seen a consistent floater/spin combo since he retired… wish he woulda been a lifer tho
Yall gotta get Manu Ginobili on here!! Him winning the gold medal against the U.S. made him bigger than Messi in Argentina until Messi won the World Cup
Not sure of TP is the float pioneer, but one thing is for sure, he was the first guard I see do it consistently and efficiently. It was like poetry in motion
My son played with Kawai Leonard in a city League in Moreno Valley California. I believe it was like 11-13 year olds. It was obvious back then how good he was and that he was going to make it to the NBA. REALLY, he was that good back then.
I remember him going high-speed at the break then do a spin-move to an off-feet (or may be both feet) lay-up (may have been a reverse lay-up). Incredible.
Great guest. Best bball pod out. Often imitated. Never duplicated. No click bait or internet drama. Just straight hoops talk. For hoopers. By hoopers. 🫡
And for those who are students of the game or respect those before them. I’m not a hooper but I like to dive in the history and the fundamentals of the game with each player bringing a set of unique abilities
Top 5 point guard ever tony was a beast in the paint who expanded his game through time. He was always improving his game i really liked that about him, an he was the first one I saw to affectively use the floater consistently.
That man did not FLINCH when he answered his starting 5. Might be the first time in the show that someone did not hesitate one second. That's what happens when you personally have played with 3 first-ballot HOF'ers and future HOF'er in Kawhi. BTW, that hoodie he rocking is HARD.
Great interview man Stephen Jackson make it seem like Tony Parker is the worst dude in the world from his stories this interview made me see him in another light

Here’s some stats for y’all: December 14, 2001 (technically the first ass busting) - Steph had 22 pts on 7/19 shooting, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds - Parker has 6 pts on 3/7 shooting, 2 assists, 5 fouls February 24, 2002 (worse ass busting Marbury did to Parker that season): - Steph had 36 pts on 14/24 shooting, 7 assists, 4 rebounds - Parker had 5 pts on 2/7 shooting, 3 assists and 3 rebounds 2003 first round playoffs (Game 1): - Steph had 26 pts on 9/28 shooting, 6 Rebs, 5 fouls and the game winner - Parker had a forgettable 7 pts on 2/13 shooting, 7 assists Game 2: - Steph had 32 pts on 13/27 shooting, 10 rebs, 5 assists and 4 fouls - Parker had 2 pts on 1/7 shooting, 2 assists and 4 fouls
That’s crazy on Gil pod collab game night w club 520 on mon/tues night comparing prime Gil to Prime Ray, Gil said Ray really a jump shooter & then this TP episode came out on Monday/ Tuesday & when talking Ray Allen final shot, Q, DM, TP all said Ray really a jump shooter, crazy both coincidence..
@@vittiriowashington5211Now envision Rookie Damian Lillard having the chance to play alongside Tim Duncan. Mind you, Rookie Dame did play next to LaMarcus Aldridge and we see how that went. @Hmmm_B well.. you sort of compares Aldridge to Duncan there.. Dame would've crushed with Timmy bro.. imagine how many open threes.. wow.. so overall your point is very valid

Parker had 2 big 3s shot on him. T-Mac's 13 in 33 and Ray Allen's 3. Tall shooters aren't intimidated if there's a flat-footed 6'2 guy in front of them. Even if you don't want to foul, you have to jump and make them think maybe you will block it. You can't be flat-footed. If your feet are on the floor, they're not thinking about you at all, and you won't put them off.
Kobe used to be my favorite player, but y’all need to stop with that very American habit of yours of systematically overstating shit, like, you’ve got some Italian ancestors you’re Italian, you’ve won the NBA you’re world champions, you’ve learned 4 phrases / words in French you’ve learned French etc etc etc Don’t get me wrong, I love that he took the time to learn some words to trash talk, respect 100% the genuine work monster he was, but come on, you make this guy look like superhuman but on some levels it’s really overstated/rated Peace, and thx Kobe for all the insane emotions and memories, you are missed ❤

Great episode!!! Tony gave very detailed answers. I wonder what he felt about playing that Pistons teams in the Finals.
This dude has had a great life and all he does is win. What an awesome career!
Thanks guys. TP was a small PG who scored 18-19ppg always around 50%, sometimes higher. Low turnovers too. One of the most efficient PGs of all time.
Rod Strickland • Allen Iverson • Tony Parker den the 🐐 Kyrie
