The first book from designer Michelle Nussbaumer features her dramatically lush interiors and shows readers how spaces can be inspired by travel and filled with treasures from around the world. As a curator who discovers exquisite treasures all over the world for her projects and her Dallas-based design store Ceylon et Cie, Michelle Nussbaumer has a signature style, in multilayered rooms that mix periods with antique textiles, embroideries and weavings, unconventional furniture, and global art. The result is unique interiors that might recall 1940s glamour or nineteenth-century England. Her first book, organized by mood and style, showcases interiors that range from calm to bold, and from rustic to exotic. These include Nussbaumer’s own stunning residences in Switzerland and Texas, as well as her work for clients around the country. Her sumptuous interiors-eclectic in style and influenced by the designer’s travels from Paris and Rome to Africa, Mexico, and China-provide alluring inspiration for design aficionados.

Happy Friday to you as well! I remember the first time I looked at this book. I thought about Dorothy when she landed in Oz, and from her monochromatic bedroom she looked outside to see a world saturated with color and filled with fascinating things.

I have had this book for several years and reference it often. I love her maximalist style and use of color. She is one of those designers who can put a multitude of print fabrics and textiles together effortlessly. Her rooms always make me feel as though they are straight out of a movie set. So romantic and full of objects from around the world.
I noticed there are 30 pages plus with blue!chinoiserie china and textiles, my favorite!
Really blessed to enjoy such beautiful azaleas and hibiscus every day. Thank you.

This book was a gift and I LOVED it. I was shocked because too much pattern, color and texture sometimes bothers my psyche. Michelle Nussbauer does it in a way that is exciting and soothing at the same time. I can see why it's your favorite!

Mary, this video is like a Moving Meditation..so tranquil, so gorgeous and so relaxing. I’ve never seen an orchid house with stained glass windows and Tiffany lamps. This one I have to watch 3 times, once in slow motion! I love the ideas on every page! My favorite azalea is the light pink or salmon, and I love the white and brilliant colors! I have pink, salmon, white, and lavender. I put some of them in large containers.
I have to buy Wanderlust. I have carved cinnabar and now I need coral!

I remember my one and only trip to Pinehurst, NC. It was Easter weekend and everything was in bloom. It was spectacular.

It was for me as well. I asked the owner about the ball and when the chicken is in the front garden he places her in a ball to protect it, otherwise it roams free in the back.

The folks here do enjoy and take pride in their gardens. I can remember going on these tours as a child and thinking very little about the time and love people put into them. As I grew and began weeding for my mom, I soon developed a great respect for these home owners!
A Beautiful book ♥️Yes I enjoyed,we used to have lots of Azaleas in our area ,but not so much any more,our spring is so unpredictable,I used to say when they bloom a hard frost was right behind,you are blessed with gorgeous spring weather…..Thank you for the Garden tour ,and I loved the orchid house ♥️🍃🍃

Oh Mary, thank you for taking us through the ideas and that Miles was just beautiful. I’m not able to grow azaleas for some reason they downed my property here mother and I have both tried for years, but they just will not survive but I do love them. they’re so beautiful in bloom

Yes- I hade never seen the chickens in a ball before. I was a little concerned at first, but they seemed to enjoy it and it keeps them safe outside of their fenced coop.
Don't know if that was a chicken or a rooster but if it was a rooster, keeps them from attacking!!

Oh, how I miss Spring in the southeast and all the flowers. Thank you for the tour. I'm seriously considering some Encore Azaleas in pots. My native soil is too alkaline for them, but maybe in pots they would be worth a try. I enjoyed the book review too. I love all the saturated colors. Thank you!!
Encore Azaleas do fine in pots and you get double the blooms. That would be a great choice. Thanks for watching.

The book did not mention the name of the color, but it is a beautiful hue of pink.
I loved everything. However, one question.... are the topiaries on your porch real or fake? Regardless, I love them.
The Eugenia topiaries are real. These are easy to care for and love full sun. The boxwoods are shaded and get no direct sunlight on the porch, so I had to opt for artificial. They came from Williamsburg- www.shop.colonialwilliamsburg.com

What is that plant with strappy leaves and has blue bell looking flowers growing from it.
It is a type of hyacinth bulb (woodland hyacinth). Eden Brothers sells these bulbs under the name “blue wood hyacinth”.

Everything was lovely until I saw that poor chicken in a ball….I know you love your gardens,but that is just barbaric treatment of an animal….
I get that, I had the same thought, and I even asked the owner about it. They only do this when they are in the front garden away from the protection of their fenced coop. Also, some were roosters and they like to attack each other. The owner assured me he rarely uses this method.
