    I remember going to the alps and being told that the general rule mountaineers abide by is that when you go up your on your own, if you get into trouble other climbers won’t help you and the reason I was told shocked me. Not only because it puts their own life in immediate danger to help but it will affect their summit time. The guide explained people spend years planning their routes and expeditions do to detour and help another person can cost yes their life but also their lifetime goal. Wild.

    • @Wonderer888
      @Wonderer888 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

      I know it’s meant to be an accomplishment of some sort but it all sounds like a selfish activity for selfish people. To go knowing others have died, trample over them and even use them as landmarks, keep going and not help even if someone is struggling just to meet the goal that benefits no one. Leave behind people that care about you knowing you might not return just for bragging rights in case you do return. It sounds like an activity for people already dead on the inside. This is not a testament of strength and courage but of self-centredness and selfishness.

Like…why?…I’d just be another dead body up there if I had the health to go (I don’t I’m disabled combat vet). I can’t help but to help others, so I’d just be dead! I’ve read of a few sherpas who have risked their life to bring down survivors. Now THAT is a true adventurer and human being!

In the same position they were last in and no one can remove them due to also being at risk of dying in the process. To use them as point markers in the climb is disturbing yet useful to those who want to take on the challenge while also being a reminder of the risks your taking. I think that's why it's eerie imo anyway.

    They are not used for navigation. The bodies are often covered, moved (by humans to be out of sight or the elements) or retrieved. You navigate by knowing the route, the mountain and its obstacles, not by a map of where the bodies are. Guides can indicate the presence of a body ahead to prevent people from having an averse reaction.

    The man shown at the end passed away in 2005. He was from Ireland. He fell to his knees and fell back in exhaustion. He died with his eyes open and rolled back. There's a picture of him with his wife and a small child. He had blue eyes, red hair, and beard. He requested his body to remain in the same place he perished. I have a morbid curiosity, and I tend to search for people who died on the Himalayas. It hits hard when I see people climb over dead bodies like stairs. They were real people who accomplished or tried to accomplish a huge dream.

      That is what shocks me. People pay up to $100,00 to climb that mountain, it's seen as this sacred place on earth, but we leave it covered in trash?? That really makes no sense to me! How is that allowed by the country? Couldn't everyone pay a certain amount to removing their junk? I hear hundreds of people go up, twice a year. Think of all that stuff!!?? Is it really true??

      A human body gets a lot heavier when it’s frozen and is too dangerous to the rescuers to try bring back down . But on Everest it’s littered with oxygen bottles and rubbish from climbers. It’s shocking.

  • @RyanAl92
    @RyanAl92 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

    Some of the bodies are people who died after a fall. They broke all their bones and couldn't climb any more. So all they could do was wait for their death. They literally froze to death while crying and screaming in pain with all those broken bones. If ghosts were real, those mountains would be full of them due to such horrible, painful ends. But nah. No ghosts. Just the cold winds.
    In their last moments, they were probably praying, hoping for someone to come save them, divine intervention, or even the mercy of a quick death. But again, nah. They don't even get that. They were laying there for hours before they died. Who will show them mercy? There are no rescue teams. No gods or angels. Just hours of pain and suffering all alone. Every now and then, they go unconscious and probably dreamt that they succeeded, only to come back to reality and cry and scream some more. But they can't scream anymore. No. Their throat and their eyes are dry as sand now. So they moan in agony. "Uhhhhhh. Uhhhhhh. Uhhhhhh." And then the moaning stops. Oh, but they're not dead just yet. They just don't have it in them to even moan anymore. So they stare at the back of their eye lids for a few more hours. Every now and then opening their eyes to the white snow. And then... nothing. Gone like they never even existed. And their bodies just stay there for years.
    Take this how you want. To me, this is just our reality.

      @@katarinaraveendran1729 You say they knew the risks and then you say they were ignorant. 🤷
      That's not ignorance. Ignorance is, "Hey, let's climb this mountain. It's gonna be sooo easy and nobody dies doing fun stuff." Another example of ignorance is you. You're being an ass just because you don't understand them.
      In reality, to them, the reward for succeeding outweighs all the risks and that is why they went. They were gamblers and made the educated decision to put their life on the table. In fact, it's the risk that made them do it in their first place. But nothing, no amount of training, will prepare you for the brutality of a very slow and very painful and very lonely death. Most of them were probably crying and moaning in pain, hoping for someone to save them or for death to take them quickly. But they will get nothing because there is nobody to give them anything. No rescue team. No gods or angels. Nothing.

      A bit too dramatic. In the death zone you dont last long at all. Not "hours and hours". Esp if you broke ribs or punctured an organ. The air is way too thin and with injuries you will freeze to death and pass out long before, with that very thin air.

    • @RyanAl92
      @RyanAl92 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@patslouka915 MOST people break their wrists, elbows, shoulders, ankles, knees, and hips in falls. So MOST people took hours upon hours to die. Even with broken ribs, you'll still be able to control your breathing. You just can't climb and that's how you die. You can crawl for a few meters. Hop for a few meters. But you'll NEVER make it. And most people will try to stay alive for as long as possible just for a 0.001% chance that someone could come and save them, thus extending their suffering. But, like I said earlier, no one is coming. You'd be surprised how much damage a human being can take, especially one fit enough to attempt such a task, without actually dying.
      But if it makes you feel better to tell yourself that they had quick deaths, go ahead. Not trying to spread depression here. Just stating facts.
