  • Most Americans do not have the cash on hand to cover an emergency expense of $1,000, according to a new study; KDKA's Jon Delano reports.

    I listen to Dave Ramsay's. I'm debt free and have over 6 months expenses for emergencies.

    401k is the issue. Eveytime the market crashes millions are screwed

      True...........pandemic caused 20-35% drop in value in 401k........takes a good while to build that back up, but there comes a point where you don't have enough time to build it back up

      @@254ChuckDawgPlenty of Americans are in severe debt. I read elsewhere someone’s wife was like 50k+ in debt I think through the husband’s credit card, so one of them declared bankruptcy and after that she’s still lavishly spending, husband can’t open no cards, and maxing all the credit cards she can get her hands on, vacations, all that. Plenty of people out there just like that, don’t care and playing the system and paycheck to paycheck, even if they make 100k-200k+ 😂

    We can't even compete with other states. We are always the lowest paid with the highest taxes. If your not ahead by now... God help you 🙏🙏🙏🙏

    I'm 77 & when 401k's, 403b's. IRA's, etc. were started in the 1980's, I knew then that it was there to replace &
    not supplement existing ,defined pension plans! Americans should have rejected these plans initially & insisted
    that major companies continue offering pensions! I am fortunate enough to have both & now that I am retired &
    forced to take out an RMD (Required minimum distribution) from the IRA, it is forcing me into a higher tax bracket!

    I believe this. At the bank atm's sometimes some people leave their statement. I've seen some with one hundred and change and others three hundred. All less than $1,000

    Lol this is funny cuz my fam got 100k in saving, 400k house paid, 3 cars paid, and 1.5 mill in 401k.
    Pro tip… learn to live below ur means by being willing to make sacrifices

      @@MrEnky007 my sacrifices were/are living with parents aka no rent, buying generic groceries and learning to make healthy and cheap meals from TH-cam, driving an used crappy car, buying clearance rack clothes only when I need it, etc. i only make slightly above median income…. So it’s possible but most of y’all can’t live like me lol

    The car breaking down should be the least of your worries.. Instead, the USA is a car country because car manufacturers don't want us to have public transportation. They want to sell you cars, cars and more cars. Not homes. Cars! Don't you find that strange?
