    I got the Thorlos after watching your last video. Paid like 20€(25$) here in Europe for each pair and thought it was pretty expensive but it turned out to be worth every penny and I really love them. I can play 3 hour matches without even thinking about blisters. Thanks for the unique content you create.

    Alpha skin is the only sock I can wear comfortably in the heat over here. I’m a heavy sweater and was having to change my socks every set unless I wanted it to be squish squish every step. Don’t get me wrong my shoes are still wet at the end of a match so if there’s someone who sweats more than me or Jack sock you might have to play tennis with Kleenex boxes on your feet.

    I was suffering from ankle soreness from basketball so I purchased a pair of Lasso socks. It advertised it is supposed to mimic having your ankles taped. Although after repeated uses I don’t completely agree with these claims I did find them to be very supportive. I still have some minor ankle soreness after basketball games but it is sufficiently less. Although not perfect, the Lasso socks are best socks I ever purchased.

Picking up basketball again and I was wearing my NBA stance socks with my kd 13s. Bottom of big toes blistered and peeled skin off bad. Would the darn tough socks work for basketball or do you think it was the kds? I play on my forefoot mostly. 5'8 185lbs Tia!

    I hate all of these kinds of socks with "extra" stuff like padding and moisture wicking. I find that that the more a sock claims to be moisture wicking, the more they make my feet feel like they're suffocating in a hot moist swamp. The best, most comfortable socks are always the ones that are extremely thin, with no frills of "features". Generally, a sock is at it's most comfortable RIGHT before it finally falls apart. If I could find a sock that was thin enough to feel like it was always on the verge of disintegrating, that would change my life. Get all these other socks out of my sight.

    Hi Zach
    What, in your opinion are the pros and cons of wearing 2 pairs of socks. Federer seems to do that. I thought of wearing thin toe socks as a first layer and then normal socks over them. The toe socks help me to manage rubbing caused by knobbly bits of bone between a couple of toes. However, the toe socks are a bit thin at the ends of the toes and I get some blisters there. Two pairs of sock might be worth a try. What do you think? I did try that out, in fact, but the shoes were tight. I could go up a half size to accommodate the two pairs but I wonder if it’s worth it.
    Best wishes
    Steve

      2 socks imo is a good option for blister relief because it pads as well as creates an air pocket so less friction - I have a video on this about keeping your feet cool as well- it’s not for everyone but I did it all though college tennis and I have alot of patients do it as well

    Hey Doc, could you do a video on conventional socks (The socks that you have in the list) vs anti-slip socks (where they have rubber to prevent glidiing) on their effect of preventing blister? There are two anti-slip socks that I would recommend having review, one is `RTP ultraGrip Sock`, the other one is `GearxPro`. I generally find wearing anti-slip socks helps reduce blister for me, but not sure if it's Placebo effect.

    Hi Zach! I have two doubts about socks that maybe you could shed some light on it: 1) What do you think about compression socks like Decathlon's RS900, worth it or gimmick? 2) I've also seen some special socks called gripper (or anti-slip) socks that contain some rubber points/dots at the bottom which supposedly helps your foot to stay in place inside the shoes? Did you have the chance to check or review any of these?

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The compression socks are basically all the same so if you get one you’ve gotten them all IMO just depends on durability - I also love the rubber nubbs on socks- love the lack of friction and heat it helps with - bad part is is that it wears down then they’re just like any other- adidas does a nice job of these with the horizontal stripes of grip

    sock actually makes a indentation and swells my legs. Anyhoo. I or anyone else I

    Can i wear Thorlos for bball ?
    I have a really painful black toe (on my big toe) from playing bball in my curry 8s 🙁
    It feels like it’s coming from my toe hitting the front of the shoe box … i felt it saving a ball out of bounds and also with hard start/stops and cuts like euros … I wore double under armour socks so idk if it’s the shoes or maybe from wearing double socks but it’s a constant problem with my currys and really affecting my game 😔
    Do you recommend a specific shoe for this problem ? (Considering the Luka 1s, Jordan 37s, or JB 1s)

      Thorlo has hoops specific socks

      @@FootDoctorZach I’ve battle tested the Thorlos bball 🏀 socks …
      Amazing comfort and padding … a huge improvement regardless from basic sports brands crew socks …
      But only complaint … they slide all around on my foot and in my shoe which throws off the fit … they get all sideways especially when playing competitively
      Idk what to do … other than that they are perfect .. they basically feel like double socks on steroids like a cloud
      I guess id say they dont fit tight enough or something … best socks I’ve ever played in regardless so I’m happy with the purchase until i find something more optimal … do recommend
      Ordered 3 pairs initially and another 3 after shooting around in them because i loved them so much … just started noticing the “slipping issue”
      *they will improve your jump shot* (i recommend bringing an extra pair to swap out to stay fresh/dry)
      Side note: could just be sweat issue so I’m going to try getting dry feet spray and swapping fresh socks after about 30 or 45 min or 1 hour after play

    I have never understood why most people wear longer socks for tennis verses what I like to use the ankle socks? (Thorlo Ankle socks to be exact)

      Higher socks stop sweat from dripping into your shoes- and prevent blistering

      @@FootDoctorZach I don't wear high socks, I only wear quarter height or no-show socks. I don't like the feeling of something tight around my calves and I don't want a tan line by my calves.

      If you don’t sweat a lot and don’t have break in issues with shoes that’s perfectly fine- Roddick did that late in his career

    Informative Dr. Zach! For next year maybe or just an idea - would be curious as to your take on Smartwool socks. Thank you as always! :)

    • @FootDoctorZach

      I pretty much never recommend wool in my videos just because of the risk of allergy/ irritation in some people - I’d rather have a cotton / synthetic blend but that’s just me- that being said they are very very very comfortable

    Really appreciate your channel and content, very insightful. What is your opinion of toe socks?

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, they’re good just as long as you can find a pair that’s not too thin - most toe socks come pretty thin to get all that material in them so they’ll rip quick in side to side sports like tennis / hoops

      @@FootDoctorZach they are a really big thing in the soccer world. Pro players wear them without endorsement they are such a good product. They make a shoe that’s not a perfect fit feel like a perfect fit and a shoe that is a perfect fit feel like an even more perfect fit. They are awesome. Josh from Soccer Reviews for you (very big and unbiased soccer review channel) has said he can’t do accurate reviews while wearing them because they make shoes feel so much better as a default. Don’t know why they aren’t a thing in the tennis world with all our lateral cuts and stuff. An impression/review would be awesome!

    Do you recommend going double sock? I've read somewhere that it helps a new shoe feel more broken in and accelerates that process.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to always double up when I played tennis in college so I like the padding and feel but it’s all personal preference - but yeah it does ease the break in
