Slightly incorrect The anthem never have any connection to the third reich, as this anthem was already written before the 20th century and was already used by the Weimar Republic And the current Germany does not use a different version of the anthem, but only use the third stanza as its official lyrics (the first and second stanzas were not banned, just stopped to be official)
This song was written as a call for unity in the 1800s, then was adopted as the Wiemar republic anthem then the Nazis used verse 1 and Horst Wessel Lied now the last verse is the only one officially used
