- Well, for this Thursdays video I did something a little bit different than normal, I ended up heading down to the long term parking at the Edmonton International Airport for a quick stealth camp in the back of the SUV. Idea courtesy of Beautiful Wife! Some very close calls with security sniffing around the car! All in all, another fun night despite having a cold. Hunker down everyone!

As a former watchman, I wouldn't care. You paid for that spot and you aren't causing a disturbance. You're not leaving trash everywhere either. That sammich, however, needs it's own parking spot. That's a violation.

I had a girlfriend that spent two weeks in the long term parking in McCaran International Airport in Las Vegas....... in August...... when they found her she had been mummified by the extreme heat..... but her diary indicated that she had been having a great time until the batteries died in her AC unit......

I have realised Steve cares way more about being caught than I do but he cares WAY less about his equipment than I do. He leaves stuff outside and puts electronics, sleeping bags and food on the floor etc. there are so many videos of him where his sleeping equipment is being rained on and it hurt me but he is paranoid about being caught. Funny thing is, he is still alive and from what I can tell none of his equipment has been destroyed. We should all care less :D

I used to drive 700 miles to a delivery every other day. Between Connecticut and georgia. Used to sleep in my box truck by hanging a hammock from wall to wall using the existing wall anchors. Never got busted. Always used a contractors trash bag to hang over the door between the cab of the truck and the box. I found if you take a small terracotta pot and invert it over a tea light one can really heat up the box pretty well. Plus if one buys some pizza dough and places it in a second flowerpot placed on top of the smaller(heater pot) one can make impromptu bread over the corse of the life of the tealight. I will make a video someday. Hopefully before i die. Kidney failure sucks. Being on dialysis and watching your videos brings back great stealth camping memories.
I found if you think you are going to get caught you will but if you ignore the guard's behavior then you can make it without worries. Stay safe Steve and keep pumping out videos to bypass my time on Dialysis. THANK YOU

I lived in my Jeep for 3 months at Miami international economy lot- was nerve racking yes- but very safe so I put up with it while I worked a job down that way- I made custom black out pieces for each window

Maybe buy a cheap shed and customize it in the backyard for times he can’t get away. I’m sure he and Crazy Neighbor could come up with something pretty awesome. I’d like to do this. Crushed stone pad maybe, cheapest wood shed, add wood stove some insulation a cook area etc... sack out next to the lawn mower.

Here is an idea. Tell the wife you are going stealth camping. Then about midnight stealthfully come back home and stealtfully sneak back into bed. That would make a great video and you can film making her breakfast in bed. Or making breakfast in jail because she called 911 and you were tazered and came to in jail. Actually you could probably break this up into several episodes. Like when she came to bail you out and how you moved into your backyard and stayed there camping for the whole winter. Anyway just a thought. I came from Edmonton, lived there most of my life and during the long cold winters we would think up ideas to wile the time away till spring in June. On the more serious side Steve, you don't have to keep putting yourself at risk for a new video, how about doing a walk through in that humongous camping store (can't remember the name) and show us how we dont need any of that stuff to go CAMPING WITH STEVE. @@datboi2886 Meant from a legal standpoint. I vaguely recall a friend being pulled over for tinted windows and having to get them removed but revisiting the law it seems back windows can be tinted so my memory might be shoddy on that.

i did some van living for a year and a half-ish back in 2012 in BC. it was a great experience. I did it for the adventure and lack of having to pay rent. I am preparing to get back into the van living lifestyle in the next year or so, so I can drive around canada and find a sweet piece of land and start building. its still in the dream phase, but Im slowly chopping away at it.
A family of 4 could live off that sandwich for a week.

I'm 1m86 (6'1). 20 years ago (I was around 20 then) I spent a LOT of nights in an (unmodified) Opel Corsa A, on all sorts of wild places or urban parking lots here in France. For you Americans, let's just say it's a car smaller than your imagination is capable of imagining. Tilting the front seats forward to max, flipping the rear seats down, and filling one gap with a cushion, let me lay in the car, feet to the trunk, my back on the back of the front seats. It was SURPRISINGLY comfortable. Problem indeed was in the winter, not only would the windows freeze up with condensation, but frost on the ceiling would sometimes come down like the car was snowing inside itself. Never had any issues with people, guards, passers by, thugs, nothing.
Later on I got bigger money and bigger cars, but none as comfortable to sleep in as the Corsa, so I just started hiding tents near my car, but never was as simple as with that tiny improvised sleeper.
Steve worried about security.....it's damn wonder the Air Traffic Controllers didn't pick up that sammich on radar.

I slept in my car when I was evacuated during the Napa wildfires. I didn’t want to go to an indoor shelter because of COVID. Anyway, I went to the dollar store and bought some black foam core poster boards and a utility blade. I easily cut the poster board pieces to fit into my windows. From the outside it just looked like tinted windows. I stayed in a parking lot evacuation area at a park, so stealth wasn’t the goal really. But I wanted to make sure that someone couldn’t tell if I was in there or not, or whether I was alone or not. PS. I own a VW Beetle and made it work. Also, I clipped mesh laundry bag in the window when I wanted air while I was awake...this slightly blocks the view from outside and made me feel more comfortable that someone couldn’t just easily reach into my window.

I do this in parking lots every night when I'm in town. What I do instead of emergency blankets is I have made suction cup certains for my windows that are fitted to each window and back windshield and have a layer of dollar tree flexible reflectix and a Walmart shear black curtain panel. I have only been flashlighted once and I have never been asked to leave anywhere in a year and four months.

Having worked at airports and large sites with lots of security, this guy is giving security way too much credit. Best thing to do is relax and if someone makes a fuss just be like, "sleeping in my car bro, sup?"
Don't try it in Australia. Commonwealth and Federal Police, Homeland Security, and Border Force all patrol airports in Australia. You will not go the full night without being 'chatted to' at some point.

I'd recommend prepping your car beforehand, get the windows taped at the top and then just tuck them up for the drive, so when you get there you just let them down. Gives you the chance to try it out before to see how much light comes out.

Cool video, but just as an fyi: The anxiety of sleeping in fear of security catching you is more detrimental to your long term health than the minor sickness and being discovered and cited would have been to your immediate well being. I've done what you do on your channel out of adventure and also out of necessity. Adrenalin and Cortisol are terrible bunkmates; and like a dishonest woman, they become more deadly with continued practice the more you bed them down. It's the kind of lesson you learn after a mini-stroke costs you a few expensive nights in a hospital before you turn fifty. The clarity of which, however, is priceless. My advice would be cover the windows with dark colored fabric completely, put on some headphones to drown out the exterior noise and allow your mind to go elsewhere until the alarm vibrates when its time to leave. You'll sleep better and reduce the chance of allowing your paranoid movements to draw unwanted attention. Just my two cents from a fellow pro for anyone watching who may not know. Doing this type of thing because you have to often leads to costly poor decision making. Again, thanks for the great video content you share. I appreciate your effort, for sure. Cheers!

Anybody trying to figure out the windows fogging up problem, get dark colored window deflectors. I bought them for just my back seat windows. You can lower your windows a bit but you can’t tell from the outside. Provides ventilation, keeps rain out, and actually makes it warmer since humidity doesn’t build up inside. Do that and make some black window covers (I made some out of black foam board from dollar tree that I just wedge in), and hang a black curtain behind your front seats and you’re all set for stealth.
