Welcome to Olden Part 2! This is the second part of our stay in Olden where we watch the famous Olden sail away. It was lovely to see the residents of Olden wave us off with flags and music and I actually felt quite emotional at the end! (Although I am one to cry at sad films and adverts!)
We ended a fabulous day trying out the delicious food at The Olive Grove. Most of the food here is included or has a very small upcharge. Only available to book once onboard the ship or you may be able to turn up on the day you want to get a table although this restaurant is very popular and gets booked up very quickly so I would recommend booking beforehand if possible.
We had starters of a Meze platter which the waiter brought out as he thought we would like it, the trio of tapas and a salad. If there's anything you don't like you are able to swap it out if you ask. We don't like calamari so swapped this for halloumi.
We then had pizzas and lasagne for our main course. The boys all said the pizza was excellent and they enjoyed the lasagna they shared, however as nice as the lasagna was I felt it was slightly disapointing. Not as nice as the reviews had hyped it up to be, but this is just my opinion. Everyone's taste are different aren't they 😊
Desserts were very nice, my lemon tart was sueperb! Very tangy but not too overpowering... just the right amount of tang! 😂 Mike and Spencer had the Tiramisu and they both said it was very nice, very creamy. Charlie had the flourless hazelnut chocolate cake which he really liked, he's a big lover of chocolate desserts so went down well with him. It did have a very different texture to a 'normal' chocolate cake but still good!
I'm glad we got to try The Olive Grove and would definitely go again, the service from the waiters was out of this world. They told us stories of their time on board different ships over the years and didn't try to rush us out after we'd eaten. Mario and Isaac were our servers, we made sure to fill in a special mention card in for them at reception. 😊 I would however, try something different next time, we heard the peri peri chicken is very tasty so might give that a try next time.
We hope you like the 2nd part of our Olden Adventure! If you haven't already please consider subscribing to see more of our Norway Vlogs and all our future travels we have planned. It's completely free and will help us reach our goal of 1000 subscribers! Never in a million years did we think we'd have you all here and we thank you dearly! We appreciate all the likes and lovely comments we've had over the past few weeks, it's been so nice talking to you all and hearing about your own travels. 💕🌍
    Until next week!
    Much love - Nikki xo

It's almost exactly a year since we were in Norway but we sailed with Royal Caribbean. We have not sailed P&O yet but the ship looks amazing. We had to stay off the snow as parts were quite deep in Olden!
Thanks for sharing. Pete & Lisa 👍👋

Ah really? There were a few deep spots while we were there! How was Royal Caribbean? Their ships look fantastic! Hopefully we'll get to try them out, I think Spencer & Charlie would love them with all the amenities. Which ports did you visit? I can imagine the different cruise lines like to add a few different ones to their itineraries from others to give a bit of variation?
Thank you so much for watching and for subscribing! We hope you like our next adventures! 🤗🌟🌍

@@seetheworldwiththekids we sailed to Haugesund which initially seemed a bit boring but there is so much history and sitës to visit there. We done Olden which is amazing and we have half decent Vlogs on the Glacier and Sky Lift. Bergen and Geiranger were also both great! We sailed Anthem of the Seas which would be great for kids. It had bumper cars and a playstion room as well as the other kids areas.
The larger Royal ships would be amazing but everyone seems to be building bigger and better to complete with each other! Look forward to following your travels and thanks very much for subbing us.
      Pete & Lisa 👍👋

I'm looking forward to seeing what you got up to, we missed Haugesund unfortunately as the weather was awful. Just means we'll have to go again! We would like to see the Glacier next time too 🤩 Anthem of the Seas sounds amazing!! Definitely going to have to give that one a try! Yes they do seem to be getting bigger... I wonder how big they'll go, surely can't get any bigger! 😄
Lovely to talk to you Pete & Lisa, I'll be looking forward to seeing your adventures too! Speak to you soon ~ Nikki 🙋🏼‍♀️

It really was 😋 The boys said their pizzas were really good and the dessert I had was one of the best I've had. Love lemon things though! 🍋 😄

    Hi,
Thank you so much for sharing your holiday. We go in august on our first cruise as a family of 3 in a similar style cabin to yours and we cannot wait to share these videos with our little one.
Can you explain how the restaurants work please? For example the olive grove, is it included or is there an additional fee or is it for certain dishes? Do others work in a similar way?
    Thanks again! X

Aww thank you so much for watching and your lovely comment! I bet you all can't wait!
Of course, most of the Olive Grove dishes were included apart from just a few items which had a small charge, not expensive at all.
The Beach House and Sindhu you have to prebook before you sail and you pay a cost per person as a service charge/deposit so to speak.
Then again, same as the Olive Grove, most items on the Beach House menu are included, there's just a few items like the lava rock steak etc that have a small fee on top. (Any extras just get added to your account which you can pay at reception whenever you like... some people pay it all at the end, whereas we settled up half way through our holiday just so we knew where we stood)
At Sindhu everything has a small fee, around £5 for a main meal around £3 for starters and desserts. And I believe Keel & Cow, the Glass House and Epicurean are the same as Sindhu where dishes have a small cost, but we didn't get chance to try these this time.
All the food in The Quays is totally included, we really liked eating here, more so than the Horizon Buffet. And we enjoyed all of the main dining rooms which are also included. (These are Coral & Pearl and the back on deck 7 & 6. And Aqua & Opal to the sides of deck 6.)
On Celebration night we pre booked the Chef's Table, this is included and was very nice, the food was extra special. Charlie tried his best but it was just a little too fancy for him, I've heard if you ask your server they're able to bring children something different but I'm not 100% sure on whether this is true.
If you have any allergies they're really good with handling those too, Charlie has a peanut allergy so if you go to the restaurant the evening before you can speak to them about it and pre order their meal and it will be prepared and cooked safely away from the allergen.
I hope this makes sense and I hope you have a fantastic time! 🤩 If you have any other questions at all let me know, I'll try my best to help! ☺️
      Thanks again for watching! 💕

      Hi sorry me again,
What was the cover charge for the olive grove? Also personal question, did you pay for a drinks package? Xx

    • @seetheworldwiththekids
      @seetheworldwiththekids  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hiya, there wasn't a cover charge for the Olive Grove 😊 We didn't have a drinks package in the end, we did think about it but glad we didn't as I don't think we would have got our moneys worth. We saw that the drinks were around the same price as they are locally here where we live so not too bad.
We took some cans of pop with us and our drinks bottles from home and the little dilute juice bottles to make squash with. Then usually bought a drink in the afternoon and a couple in the evening. 😊

Which restaurant did you get the lemon meringue eclair from?
Our turn in three weeks and we have got to get a couple of those ❤

Hi Tony! Oooh not long now! The eclair was from the Horizon Buffet around 3pm-ish. They serve afternoon tea type items around that time which I think is a lovely idea 😊
      Have a great time! 🤩
      Thank you for watching!
