I’ve been living in Singapore for more than 10yrs. Nothing is perfect in this world. In Singapore although the cost of living is high but i felt pretty safe, clean and comfortable compared to many countries i’ve travelled to. Here extremely low crime rate(not zero), a country with extremely strict Gun Laws(unheard of any gun violence for the past 10yrs) also not to mention there’s no killing of innocent civilians and nothing worse than invasion of another country.

Hello,Ang Moh , they dare not harm you, they just threaten you because they know you are Ang Moh, not locals. Even the Chinese retired mafia is bullshitting, he is a retired mafia of the 70s. Nowadays, nobody dares to harrass the shop operators ( I am a neighborhood shop operator). The only people that bother me are the town council officers.
HAHA so true. This video is an attempt to mock Singapore. But honestly, half is bullshit. These ah bengs just wanna act big. and they honestly dont have much influence on Singapore. They are just nuisance that the police need to clean up.
I have been living in Singapore since 1987. I thank God for this beautiful city. One of the safest and cleanest. I have travelled to many places in Asia and Europe nothing comes close to Singapore. The moment I step into Changi airport I feel a sense of home sweet home 🎉 glad to be back 😊
" I have travelled to many places in Asia and Europe nothing comes close to Singapore."...Like you said you had travelled to many place yet you are compare countries to this small city state called Singapore. Its always easier and govern a small state, don't you agree?
@Molibur Zuba indeed it's easy to govern a small city. But it's very diverse in terms of race n religion. Coz of it's size we don't have natural resources or sufficient manpower. This nation rose to become 1st world from a 3rd world in just one generation. It happens to be the richest nation in Asia. Quite an achievement 👏

Im a local breed born Singaporean. This is normal. Every country have its darker side.. be it 3rd world countries, top country's America Russia china anywhere including Singapore nothing to be amused about.. the places he ventured is in Geylang. We called it red light district area where mostly illegal activities performed there. Prostitutions, Drug, illegal gang activities. But Singapore is still the safest country to walk around everywhere including this Geylang. You can walk without being harmed if you dont create a spotlight for yourself.
I really think it’s funny to see 2 Russian guys present Grayland 😆 and all eyes are drawn to them 😂 I wonder if people are swimming and barbecuing at all in the prepared places ? I’ve never seen it happen.
as a foreigner staying in Singapore for few years, this is really new to me. I happen to stay near the area mentioned but everything seems normal and safe. e.g. I've no issue walking at night and people generally just mining their own business... saw some comments that the information here maybe not accurate or reflecting the past but I'm still really curious to explore and find out. Thanks for the information. probably will be a fun thing to explore over weekend.
Beside the geylang scene which is a current issue , else everything is already history , those being interviewed are talking about history that happened 40 to 50 years ago.
They extort businesses for protection money, in return you the customers and business owners have safe passage. They run brothels and you are a potential customer. Of course your safe, your an important component of the ecosystem.
Well the bigger mafia conquered all. Think hes dead now. I think the story was getting the secret societys support then backstabbing them once one got into power...oh well maybe im wrong...
A lot of factual inacccuracies in this video. Not sure if it is bad and sloppy research or intentional with a hidden agenda. However, nevertheless it is not significant since this is youtube and a small channel, and majority of humans anyway now do not trust social media fot truth. So, its no big deal..
2:10 he literally said he took a weapon to fight, and the translation became took a gun to kill. He then went out to say he fought 2 to 3 guys. It translated to murdering 2 to 3 guys. Needless to say i didn't continue watching the video.
This guy trying to make money from this video and the only way for that is to make it popular so he over exaggerates things so his video gains more attention
As a Singaporean, i think its absolutely fair to say we are not a perfect country, got lots to learn and grow in. But i think some of the information presented here is inaccurate, and cannot be generalised. Its not true that noone smokes in the streets, no cigarette butts thrown etc etc. would appreciate an objective portrayal - i find these information very selected and skewed
Maids in Singapore are NOT slaves ,😅🤣😂 but are actually housekeepers who manage the household, and are paid salary of between S$500 to S$1500 per month , but since the accommodation or lodging is free, and food is free, and medical treatment is free and provided, and toiletries is free, and transport is provided when maid go out to buy grocery, so real actual cost to employer is about $1000 to $3500 per month. Thats not slavery at all. In fact the salary of the maid in Singapore, is usually about 3 to 10 times her salary in her home country, for the same exact work . Due to fact that maids in Singapore are paid so much higher salary than in her home country , with so many fringe benefits like free food free lodging free medical free toiletries etc, so hundreds of thousands of maid compete to work in Singapore. If this is slavery, why would the maids be competing eagerly to work in Singapore?????😅🤣😂
Maid' living conditions are terrible. most of the employers (mostly Chinese) don't let them take day off. I worked in Singapore as Aircon technician and I saw maid's rooms and conditions. So I can say that maid and construction workers there are modern day slavery in Singapore...
I would take everything in this video with a grain of salt. A lot of it is heavily sensationalised regarding organised crime, homelessness, and foreign domestic workers. I cracked up when the narrator said "no family, no privacy, no rights", right after the woman literally talked about sending money home and having days off
How should I put it, the video did hit to a point some issues that SG is facing but the info accuracy is in fact doubtful. Corruption and domestic workers’ exploitation I believe do exist but minimal as compared to the world. I was stunned and shocked at the part that mentioned triad members are still currently collecting protection fees, which is totally absurd, those people are just simply talking big, such activities should have been eradicated by the early 80s. All in all, one doesn’t even need to be street-smart, with just simple common sense, you can roam Geylang safely even in the evening.
Singapore is one of the best safest country in the word, don't spread the rumours please, Eventhough I'm a migrant construction worker i can feel this is my own country. Singapore giving the life to lot of nationalities like me , if i get opportunity to serve as Army soldier I'm ready to die also.i Proud of Singapore, i love singapore. Spread love, ignore the rumors. ❤❤❤
I've been to Singapore a few times and lived there for a short time in the 80's. I love Singapore. It's not perfect. The cost of living is among the highest in the world but the tradeoff is well worth it. Singapore is about the cleanest and safest country in the world to live in. The best, and also the cheapest, food in Singapore is found in the many hawker centers throughout the country.
Its not true that nobody litter in Singapore ,😅🤣😂 but most people in Singapore do throw rubbish into the bins instead of littering onto the floor, and most people in Singapore have got into the habit of not littering, but some minority of the people do still litter, but the rubbish and litter is quickly cleaned up, usually within 24 hours by the sweepers .
@@extremeletsgo U are welcomed. Your video is actually interesting but i had no choice but to comment to correct certain inaccuracies which i feel might unfairly put the country Singapore , in a false negative light
For the domestic helper's issue. There are always 2 sides of stories. There are some abuses from employers and some abuses from the domestic helpers. It really boils down to indivisuals. In case you are not aware. The Manpower Authority is very strict with the helpers' welfare. The employers are always being held liable for anything. Thus some employers tend to over-control their helpers.
Most abuse cases come down to whether the worker came to the country legally or not. If they're illegal, the employer has so much power over them because they can just report them to the cops and they're getting jailed/deported. If they're legal, then they can freely find another job.
For starters, the subtitles on the interviews with the triad members are just straight up wrong in some parts (see 18:30 for example. "And he started bullshitting that the world has changed" - where did that come from?). Also calling Singapore a "drug hub" is quite sensationalist and dramatic. On the point about singapore being a "drug hub" now: Compared to other countries, Singapore, where the penalty for drug related offences is death, can barely be called a "drug hub".
I visited Singapore this summer. It was absolutely stunning, beautiful, clean and safe, but this was a very interesting documentary like everything in this world. Nothing is perfect. Excellent work.

Singapore is still the only city I have been in where a woman can leave her purse on a table in a bar, go to the bathroom and come back and its still there. Its the only place where I have seen people in a hawker centre, leave their card key to their office on the table to hold the place while they go get their food. Its the only city where I have been happy to walk home at 3 am after a night of partying and no-one has approached me in any way. Maybe I don't live in Geylang. People for the most part seem to treat each other with respect. It is not perfect, and the treatment and safety net leaves a lot to be desired. However Singapore is starting to mature towards having a seriously aging population without the family support that was there in earlier times of multi-generational familities, so its on that journey to provide some sort of support. I have watched the little red dot since Lee Kwan Yu's time until now - post covid recovery and am impressed.
A friend went to Dubai and went to a place for a drink and left his wallet on the table and went home with his friends then realize that he left it at the restaurant … his local friend say don’t worry we can go back there tomorrow and collect it …. Tomorrow they went back and it was still there 😂😂… no one dare to take it because if they caught taking it they will loose a hand
I'm born singarean but now migrated to Australia. This gangsters and triad is old story. Probably have disappeared 20 years ago. Now if there's even any left they only selling illegal cigarettes
As a 2nd Gen Singaporean, this country was very very clean when I was about 16 years old and now I am 36. My feet didn't even dirty when I walk to mini mart to buy drink bare foot. That time people are happier with smile on their faces, and not much foreign faces.
first time I went to Bangkok, I brought a pair of slippers thinking Bangkok is equally hot so I should wear slippers. Lucky I got another pair of shoes which I end up wearing the entire trip. The streets in Bangkok is not only dirty, it is dangerous with sharp objects. It is literally not safe to wear slippers there.

I'm a foreigner living in SG. No disrespect but it seems to me that you are surprised SG is not perfect. I hate to break it to you mate but there is no such thing as a perfect country. Similar to the fact that nobody is perfect. But as a foreigner who travels a good amount in a year, this is as close to perfect as it gets. I remember when I first visited SF in the US. Homeless were everywhere in tents and their toilet was the sidewalks. So a dirty toilet in Sg is still better than doing your business on the streets.
The street of Singapore is free from the shameful street tents & cardboard dwellings of Streets of San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago & many American City. Cigarette buds are not as harmful as Druggie needless & drug paraphenalias.
That guy playing music in outdoors in Singapore is NOT a beggar,😅😂 but is actually a street entertainer or outdoor performer, who entertain people with music or performance and get paid by people who reward him with small money eg 10 cents to $1 , paid per willing audience person for the performance. If many people pay that performer , he can possibly earn between $1000 to even $30,000 per month . The higher level income is possible if the performer perform at high human traffic area where tens of thousands of people pass by everyday .

Singapore is one of the safest country in the world. They have one of the most efficient administration/govt. The administration and the people had done a fantastic job building the country from a small economy (1965 - Independence day) to become the richest country in all of South East Asia and they will continue to grow more wealthy and prosperous. For everyone's information/knowledge, Singapore was not discovered or opened by the British colonists. Singapore was not an uninhabited island when the colonists arrived. It is a civilized and prosperous State under the Islamic government system led by the Malay Sultan. It is a state that is rapidly developing economically and socially. The arrival of colonists from the west damaged the socio-economics and personality of the people in Singapore. a little knowledge for all. The original name of Singapore is a "TEMASIK". Why is the name changed to Singapore? it is taken from the logo of the british government which has a lion on it. Please don't say there are lions in southeast Asia 😂. There's no lion in here except tiger 🐅 🐯. British changed a lot of history, especially in the Malay Peninsula. All over the world deceived by fabricated history made by brit colonial. The word "hawker" originated in the Middle Ages from the Old English word "hōcian," which meant to peddle goods or merchandise. The term "hawker" was originally used to refer to someone who sold goods by shouting out their wares in the streets or markets. Over time, the term came to refer specifically to someone who sold goods door-to-door or from a stall or stand, such as a street vendor or peddler. The term is still in use today and typically refers to someone who sells goods, such as food or merchandise, from a mobile stall or cart. “Like a hawk” smh.

Singapore properties are actually not expensive, as price to income ratio is very low at about 5, which means 5 years of annual income for one person, is enough to buy a home. The reason why its so low , is because the median income in Singapore is one of the highest in the world . So relative to median income in Singapore , Singapore properties are extremely affordable to most people working in Singapore. If u add in government grant for public housing , just 4 years of annual income for one person, is enough to buy a home. But if u compare the cost of a Singapore home to homes in nearby south east asian countries, then Singapore homes are expensive due to the very low income of other south east asian countries .

But..... the avg 1 bed room rent is abt $2 k - $3,600, which is not that much different in North America, same place even more expensive Now lets break this dowbn $41 k / year $2 k / rent ( $24k a year ) _________ $17,000 That's not alot of money to save after paying ur bills, car ans insurance if u had one. Entertainment ND grocery. If ur on a strict, you might save 200 - 400 MAX . living as an single person your just gonna get by, no way u can buy house / condo within 5 years . Now I'd u got a better paying job, living with gf/ spouse , both making around $80 k plus each... then you'll have a chance to save money and be able to get into a house _ condo withinn 5 - 8 years on a budget. I jusy can't see a single person being able to buy a place within 4 years on a min wage. s.g is developed as any western country where the young generation struggling to buy a house in certain markets like n.y , southern Cali, Vancouver and toronro,. Also property in s.e.a is more expensive then s.g. take vietnam for an example. Thier avg annual inxome is very low, they make abt 2 - 5 k max with 2 university deagree , avg person makes less the 1 k u.s.a in saigon. It's so over crowded most property, just the land without the house cost around $600 - 1.5 mill usd . Downtown and district 10 easily 5 mill - 10 mill usd . So on a annually slaray of 24 k usd and that's consider a decent job, ur not getting any where .
@@jameslee1374 The price to income ratio refer to cost of the property compared to income of one person, and does NOT refer to savings of one person . Singapore is cleaner than most countries in general. Those who grew up in Singapore were taught not to litter in Schools when young and are generally very compliant about not littering. But Singapore have no choice but to accept many new workers and migrants from the surrounding regions the pass 15+ years. Sadly, these new residents of Singapore are not as conscientious about keeping the place clean. One of the measurements of a country’s moral and safety standards could be derived from analyzing in depth the data about their numbers in prison and the breakdown of the misdemeanors and crimes committed, the crime rate, etc.. Only then can you offer fair comment. You made short selective visits and interviewed a few questionable and elderly persons. That cannot be accurate. Your shots were aimed and angled at the negativities. Needless to say every country has their disadvantaged and sad stories. By and large Singapore is a well organized city state. The rule of law is evidently of a good standard with prompt attention by the police and authorities should you find yourself wronged in any way. Most of the private and landed properties are owned by Singaporeans and the drug scene at Geylang is nothing compared with the rest of the world including Russia and USA (if Kensington Avenue even ring a bell to you). I don't get the jibe about eating at hawkers. People like you and everyone else eat at coffeeshops, cafes & restaurants, right? Maids in Singapore are NOT slaves ,😅🤣😂
but are actually housekeepers who manage the household,
and are paid salary of between S$500 to S$1500 per month ,
but since the accommodation or lodging is free,
and food is free,
and medical treatment is free and provided,
and toiletries is free,
and transport is provided when maid go out to buy grocery,
so real actual cost to employer is about $1000 to $3500 per month.
Thats not slavery at all.
In fact the salary of the maid in Singapore,
is usually about 3 to 10 times her salary in her home country,
for the same exact work .
Due to fact that maids in Singapore are paid so much higher salary than in her home country ,
with so many fringe benefits like free food free lodging free medical free toiletries etc,
so hundreds of thousands of maid compete to work in Singapore.
If this is slavery, why would the maids be competing eagerly to work in Singapore?????😅🤣😂
He just wants to make asia countries looks bad their countries are more worse off
Maid' living conditions are terrible. most of the employers (mostly Chinese) don't let them take day off.

I cracked up when the narrator said "no family, no privacy, no rights", right after the woman literally talked about sending money home and having days off
The next time he land in Singapore. Probably will get himself arrested instead. Creating false information is gg. On top of that. He's russian. LOL.

I agree, it's sensationalised, but the issue is legit and rarely (if at all) mentioned in media.
what do you expect from a white man?
How should I put it, the video did hit to a point some issues that SG is facing but the info accuracy is in fact doubtful. Corruption and domestic workers’ exploitation I believe do exist but minimal as compared to the world. I was stunned and shocked at the part that mentioned triad members are still currently collecting protection fees, which is totally absurd, those people are just simply talking big, such activities should have been eradicated by the early 80s. All in all, one doesn’t even need to be street-smart, with just simple common sense, you can roam Geylang safely even in the evening.

You nailed the spot- not majority of the domestic helpers are the ones the victims.

I suggest you all search also about the history of Penang/Pulau Pinang 😂. Hey Brits, lies won't last forever, The real facts will come out sooner or later, that's all. Shame on you, liar!
You’re right, but it isn’t just the brits. It’s a certain group of European aristocracy who exploited a global disaster to seize power all over the world. Look up “mud flood” - the info is being suppressed but you can still find it if you look far enough.
Start with Autodidactic, Paul Cook, John Levi etc on YT. If you search for mudflood only you get sanitised results

Verbal abuse, Work Stress, Illegal working hours(12 to 14 hours) are there in few places in Singapore
That food delivery person sleeping on floor,

Imagine going to any other country and filming illegal activities like drug deals, you'll be insanely lucky to get away without being beaten up or killed.
Physical abuse of maids in Singapore is very rare,
as there is a government department called MOM in Singapore,
which protect maids and make policies that are highly protective of maids in Singapore.
So slavery of maids in Singapore is virtually non existent
In fact, some times the maid abuses the employer!
Dammmmm dude, 😂 your country is not perfect at all!!!! black people are treating bad there too damm

If the maids are under slavery, as u falsely claim, then why are virtually all the maids in your video, beaming with joy +laughter and cracking jokes and laughing so joyfully and so happy in your video 🤣😅😂?? The maids/housekeepers are laughing and joking and smiling because they are happy here in Singapore ,and making relatively good income , so its not correct to falsely claim that the maids are under slavery . There might be some stricter employers , but its definitely not slavery .
Slavery is when people are not paid for their work. Maids are employed under contracts with stipulated terms and conditions. As u said, if they are slaves why would so many of them fight to get a job in Singapore? Why has their govt not raised it as an issue? Truth is many of these maids with their income can send money back to their country to feed their families, buy land, start businesses etc. That there are over 200K maids attest to this. The video poster know nothing.
You have not mention news reports of maids abusing children and tempering with food.

Just shows you that no matter how rich the country, there will always be problems, like everywhere else, there are humans.
of course....common sense, right ?
It is better when one shares the beauty of the world, if you share negative energy you will receive negative energy, Singapore is not as extreme as you said,
As a singaporean I can tell you it is not a great city but not the worst
Many Malaysian that work in Singapore said Singapore is safer than KL. You can walk at 1 am and still safe. I really don't know much. Who wants to wake up at 1 am ? I don't know much but I don't really understand why Malaysian that goes to Singapore is so obsessed with Singapore. I don't see anything wrong about Malaysia. Of course standard of living in Malaysia is becoming more expensive but at least you don't need to worry about being an illegal immigrant in Singapore. Heared that Singapore is very futuristic but I don't think Malaysia is very far behind.

Low crime does not mean no crime. The good, the bad and the ugly are exist everywhere in the world.
Singapore properties are actually not expensive,
as price to income ratio is very low at about 5,
which means 5 years of annual income for one person,
is enough to buy a home.
The reason why its so low ,
is because the median income in Singapore is one of the highest in the world .
So relative to median income in Singapore ,
Singapore properties are extremely affordable to most people working in Singapore.
If u add in government grant for public housing ,
just 4 years of annual income for one person,
is enough to buy a home.
But if u compare the cost of a Singapore home to homes in nearby south east asian countries,
then Singapore homes are expensive due to the very low income of other south east asian countries .
Hmm. The avg inxome wit a bachelor degree is abt $41 k usd, you guys get really high raises often compared to u.s.a or Canada.
But..... the avg 1 bed room rent is abt $2 k - $3,600, which is not that much different in North America, same place even more expensive
Now lets break this dowbn
$41 k / year
$2 k / rent ( $24k a year )
_________
$17,000
That's not alot of money to save after paying ur bills, car ans insurance if u had one.
Why income is used instead of savings is because everybody save different percentage of their incomes. Some thrifty people save 80% of their income while some others spend recklessly and spend save 0 % of their income

Yes, lots of money for a 99 years lease flat, Unlike Russia with unlimited land, Singapore is very small, tiny infact and land are a premium, not much of a choice unfortunately. That's what happen when you try to squeeze that many people in a small place.
Its not true that nobody smoke in Singapore,🤣😂
but number of smokers in Singapore is very low,
at about 16% of the population .
Smoking is not allowed in many public places,
to discourage smoking,
and government tax on cigarettes is extremely high
On the segment about domestic helpers: that is not a rug, that is a full mattress, albeit without a bedframe :P. Jokes aside, you do have a point about domestic helpers being exploited and employers being abusive.
Warts and all, Singapore is way up in the table of a well-oiled well-run safe city state.

Your segment about housing prices here stands out. There is a point about the housing in Singapore being expensive, and some Singaporeans falling behind, I'll give you that. However, its undermined by the fact that you keep repeating the stereotype that Singaporeans are all rich, and then act like you've made a point when you reveal the opposite. You do realise it's just a stereotype, right? Also, like everyone else have pointed out, buskers are NOT beggars! If anything, they're street performers!
Great job for the misinformation and over exaggerations. Knowing some Singaporeans for real would be a good start to rightly portray the bad sides of Singapore.
Nepotism and Cronyism will still be in existence in Singapore as nobody will dare to challenge the regime. Just to be contented with the peaceful harmonious life, unless someone in the top echelon wants to destroy the status quo. Not in the menu for small fly!
