    Your hammer reminds me of my hand tools. I am 62 and my son is 31. I decided that I wanted fiberglass handled tools. I will talk about my pick. The edge of the blade is worn over an inch. My son said dad this pick is broken. Maybe I should get a new one. I told him it isn’t broken. It is well used. Someday you will think about what it took for your Grandfather and myself to wear that blade. Trust me. It will be a good memory. Always enjoy your channel Andrew....

    Not so sure about wall anchors to slab. I hope you have rebar going thru walls and into concrete footer which footer area should be 28" in depth.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Solid wood walls, 16 or 18 inch straps with an entire box of 3 1/2 nails, plus 16 6 inch Titen HD bolts... That could lift a fully loaded semi, it really could. I'm also going overboard and anchoring the shelter to the ground with 4ft earth augers. This isn't going anywhere, we live in Florida and don't get those monster tornados.

  • @nrickson
    @nrickson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    16 anchors are overkill?!? You've built this fortress above ground on a concrete slab. Well built and impressive, but looking at recent videos of whole homes being moved off their foundations, into the street, your Achilles heel with your shelter is how well, and how long those anchors hold.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have also been watching content from states away. Florida very rarely sees anything over a ef1, maybe a ef2 as a common tornado. While intense, not the monsters you see on TV. With that said, yes the anchors might be overkill for my unique situation, but it's always better to have too much and not need it.

    Calling the game due to rain? It was inside work Coach!! haha j/k Anxious to see how you outfit the interior with fold down beds, small table(s), any 12 VDC lighting planned? Have you closed the main door and looked at you phone to see if you still have sufficient bars on the signal meter? Which corner of the shelter will you put the Kegerator?? :-)

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have not closed the door all the way, but do still have cell signal inside. And hey, I'm not about working inside with the door closed until I get working ventilation, rain or not🙄. No 12 volt lighting planned, but will have battery operated push lights and maybe a motion light. My dewalt set has a battery operated fan and light I'll stash inside for hurricanes. Planning a couple of basic shelves and a futon that folds into a big enough bed for Tiffany and I to take a nap if in there for hours during a hurricane. Kegerator sounds awesome, but then I'd have to pee every 15 minutes, that wouldn't work lol.
