    This bike doesn’t make it into enough tests or review. I believe this is the best bang for buck. Especially now that the core 5 is the price you paid for this core 4. Thanks for the review. Buying a core 5 this week

    • @DukeFerg

      @@benhaynes5881 di2 s cool. Shifts great super weird feeling. Definitely recommend. Perfectly fine on techncal climbs. Though that may be subjective because a lot of that is based on rider skill. I can already go up technical climbs on a non e bike. So the e bike makes it a joke lol

    I have a decoy myself I found a big thing that helped with cable rattle was to put a little slip solution on the cable grommets to get them to go inside the frame further then put a small zip the on the grommet to keep it from pulling out of the frame.

    • @roadlesstraveledtruckee
      @roadlesstraveledtruckee  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great idea. I didn't think about lubricating the grommets, they are hard to get to push into the frame. I did, however, do the same thing as you and zip tied them to the cables. Thanks for the idea!

    Helpful tips here! I haven't noticed any cable rattling on my bike yet, but will keep an ear out for it. I ordered a new coil that was actually 2 sizes stiffer than what the Large came with. Also don't like the matchmaker for the dropper post lever where it attaches to the brake clamp. I wonder if there's a way to change it out?

    There are 3 Decoys, this is the Enduro model. The Decoy SN is the lightweight eMTB, the Decoy 29 is the All Mountain and the regular Decoy is the Enduro. Letting everyone know since this guy couldn't be bothered to tell us that.

    If you could only have one of emtbs which one would you rather have? The canyon or yt?

    • @roadlesstraveledtruckee
      @roadlesstraveledtruckee  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A few months ago I would have chosen the Canyon for the larger battery size, but now I would choose the YT because I think 720 Whrs is enough and I like the suspension, motor and battery connection more. It is a close call, however, so price would also be a consideration for me (ie. Depends on what is the best price).

      Great question and I do plan to do a video on this when I can decide myself. I will say, however, that in this area, with our mountains, if you want to do longer rides (3hrs+) the 900 Whr battery is a big plus on the Canyon.

      @roadlesstraveledtruckee  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m 5-9 but have a short Torso and long arms (ape index of 3”). This would put me on a smaller bike normally. So my guess is if your arms are more in proportion with your body then maybe either would work. Look up what RAD measurement is and check yours to compare. I give the RAD of the large YT in this video. Good luck and thanks for the question and checking out the channel!

      I’m 5-9, but…. I have an ape index of 3” and long arms actually mean a lower RAD measurement (less reach sort of). All very confusing and sometimes contradictory advice out there but bottom line for me is that I’m happy with the size I have in both bikes. Medium Canyon and Large YT. The two bikes sizes are equivalent in my opinion.

      Yes, go to www.yt-industries.com/support/suspension-setup/ And plug in the bike model info and your riding weight (including gear) and it will give you the spring rate you need. Downside of spring is you usually need to buy the size that fits you, up side is once it’s set, it will never change (ie. loose air)

    Trying to choose between a YT Decoy and a Trek Rail 7. Any advice?

    • @roadlesstraveledtruckee
      @roadlesstraveledtruckee  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not done much research on the Trek Rail but have always liked their bikes. They have a great dealer network and I think bought out many of the local shops so that is an advantage because these bikes do demand a lot of mechanical attention. Otherwise the specs look similar though I’ve not done a full side by side. For me, the smaller battery would be a big disadvantage since I live and ride in the mountains and the 720 is about as low as I’d want to go with 900 being ideal for my longer rides. Other area’s or riders have no problem with a smaller battery. I’d say, if your OK with battery size, then choose the bike that will gets you the most excited and if you have a Trek Dealer/shop near you that you know will support you and you prefer to have them do the work, then go with Trek. I do most of my own work and have good shops that work on both my YT and Canyon so I’m OK with these bikes.

      @@roadlesstraveledtruckee Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! My budget is $3500 to $4000, so I'd have to get the Core 1 or Core 2 if I were to get a YT Decoy. That's why I'm leaning toward the Trek Rail 7 since I can get it for $3300 new and I feel like that's a steal.

    Hi, does your EP801 rattle at all in this bike? It usually makes noises when not pedaling and descending over rough terrain. I'm looking to buy the same bike, but I hate the rattle noises some motors make. Thanks.

    • @roadlesstraveledtruckee
      @roadlesstraveledtruckee  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it does. Now that I have all the other rattles silenced I do notice a rattle that is only there when not peddling and going over rough terrain. I don’t notice it with the EP8 on my Canyon just the 801 on the YT, but I prefer the power delivery of the 801.

      Hey guys, yes the Knock block is shitty. Made it feel like a DH bike w a dual crown fork.. I have an XL (normally ride a L) and I removed the headset, good bye. I replaced it with a works components 1 deg angle set.. I made it 1 degree slacker then put the bike in the high position for more clearance and a perfect 64 deg HA.. Plenty of clearance and no more limitations... I think it would work on a Large as well..

    • @roadlesstraveledtruckee
      @roadlesstraveledtruckee  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The distance from fingertip to fingertip when my arms are spread wide is 183 cm which means I have longer arms than normal. This usually means that I would need a smaller bike than my height dictates. However, I am very happy with the Large YT. For comparison, the Large YT is almost the exact same size as the Medium Canyon (or even slightly smaller in terms of reach). YT is very good about answering questions so I would suggest calling them, but I would not get hung up on the label they put on the sizes and instead go with their recommendation (by calling or that listed on their site). I think it is accurate.

      Well I have a Yamaha. The gentleman that made the video has already stated he was not fond of the low engaging hub.
      Even with an onyx hub, which has instantaneous engagement, the best you can hope for is 52 poe with the Yamaha.
      With the Shimano motor and a Onyx Hub you will have true instantaneous engagement.
      I've had my Yamaha motor Replaced in less than 1 year, 2 buddy's with Brose motors had their motors replaced, none of my buds with shimano have needed to warranty their motors.
      As far as I know, Brose and shimano are the only full power motors currently produced that still offer instantaneous engagement.
      I am not a fan of the motors that have less than instantaneous engagement.
