It’s the others cities like Austin for example that never expanded and never adapted that don’t like the expansion and now they’re feeling the growing pains. People are so quick to chalk this up to politicians. The higher cost of labor is due to the cost of housing cascading into everything else. People won’t go after lower wage jobs because they need to keep the roof up so employers raise wages to get people to walk through the door. I have to charge more as an employer because the only way I could get someone is by paying more. If the cost of any necessity is affected adversely by a lot people make decisions where to work. Housing is astronomical and handouts are crazy because the people who live in this state lack the political motivation to build any new housing and drives the existing stock up.
