    In Buddhism, Samsara represents the wandering path of worldliness and illusion, nirvana is the stillness of enlightenment and truth.... I think that bar is a key to understanding the song's intention

    • @joshuawiedenbeck6944
      @joshuawiedenbeck6944 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that coupled with "Morpheus pill." Which means that all of the references to killing are facades of a fake world that are stopping you from understanding the truth.

    Great reaction ! Actually the Tinker, Tailor bit refers to a nursery rhyme : "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor, Rich Man, Poor Man, Beggar Man, Thief" ;)

    • @joshuawiedenbeck6944
      @joshuawiedenbeck6944 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's also a movie, "Tinker, tailor, soldier, spy" that might be part of the reference. At tue end of the movie, one of the characters is assasinated before they can stand trial.

      @@joshuawiedenbeck6944 the movie based on John Le Carre's book of the same title derives that title from the 15th C nursery rhyme or counting game - in the book the key suspects, one of whom is a mole in the British secret service, are given code names according to the rhyme.

    Ren said he did this 2 years ago when he was angry at pretty much everything, particularly his ongoing health struggles and the greed of the music industry. He was fighting with his management company. So he channeled the rage into the music. It was a burn it all down to the ground moment. But I love how he paid homage to so many of his influences and used it as a way to push the boundaries.
    I can’t wait for the album release!!

    • @adrienne1958l

    Interesting side note, the "chopped and screwed" style actually was born right here in this very small town I live in on the border of Texas and Louisiana (Orange, Tx.). He started this way back in the day when they didnt have a bunch of production equipment and used an actual screw to apply various pressure to the turntable to control the speed, lowering the voice and slowing the cadence. He moved to Houston about an hour away but spent most of his time here with his. boys. R.I.P. DJ Screw. That made my day. As an interesting side note I stumbled into a one take video being shot locally by another local rapper Pimp C. He was damn good too. R.I.P.

    As one of those people who knew very little about Rap , thank you for the lesson. Ren has obviously done a great job paying homage to the OGs . He has also introduced thousands of people, who otherwise would not have listened to it ,to a new genre. Including your music . And my guy your beat boxing is something special.

  • @banzy3
    @banzy3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor is from a nursery rhyme - maybe there's variations on it, but I think he's taken most of those and used it.
    In the ninth century, the Buddhist sage Lin Chi told a monk, "If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him." The idea being that you need to kill all your misconceptions, and you'll only find enlightenment from within, and from yourself. Ren alludes to this track being metaphorical in nature and I think he's doing the same as Lin Chi, but in a tongue-in-cheek and playful manner.

    He basically does country in Hold on...
    I got tears on my sleeves, hold on
    and holes in these jeans, hold on
    I haven't slept in weeks, hold on
    I haven't found no peace, hold on
    I get mighty tired, hold on
    and these tears run dry, hold on
    two bloodshot eyes, hold on

    This is Ren unleashing his beast of burden! It must have been such a good feeling once he released all the anger! Oh man, I've been waiting to hear you take on this one. Ren went full Chaotic Evil here. That beat and that flow are so sick, and there's so much going on underneath the surface level of the lyrics. Not to mention the respect to old school hip hop. This song feels to me like part shout-out, and part let's-burn-this-mother-fucker-down.

    Listening to Ren on Twitch and reading his community posts about the night he wrote this, reminded me of two things he has said. One, his 1M Subscribers: Defining Success speech at 4:07. And second, Hi Ren, the spoken word end of the song.
    Ren gives us all of it- light and dark and everything in-between. Usually with a catchy beat. Whether I love it on first listen or not; it always makes me think, pushes my boundaries, and enriches my life. I'm in awe of his talent.
    Lastly, I appreciate you for adding depth to my understanding with your analysis and insights. There's always much more there than I could ever pick up on my own. Thank you! 💛

      Yea! I caught that also. Haven't figured out if it has some deeper meaning or just a flex. The book, by John le Carré, is about finding a Soviet mole in the British intelligence service during the cold war - maybe something about not being able to trust anyone. Or the fact that he left out "Spy" has some significance? Or, maybe, I'm overthinking it - it could just be a flex. =)

    The English version is
    Tinker, Tailor,
    Soldier, Sailor,
    Rich Man, Poor Man,
    Beggar Man, Thief.

    As I commented over on Knox's channel, this is about severing karma. The key to the whole track is Samsara and Karma. Besides the obvious lines, the last verse has "follow me down to the river" that is a direct reference to the Ganges river which is said to purge all bad karma. Basically, this is an attempt to sever karma escape Samsara, which is sometimes translated as suffering.

    Ren is siiiiiick! This track is such a nasty banger 🔥 Pretty sure the RENegade will follow this pied piper down to the dark depths of his rabbit hole even if he is wielding a knife instead of a pipe 🐰🕳️ 🗡️🐐 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀 Lucky he has found music as an outlet for all his frustration and anger 😅
