    As a WW2 living historian I can tell you it's a great uniform. It's versatile and can be mixed. The Pinks&Greens had a chocolate shirt and a tan shirt. There were a tan or green tie. Their was the regular jacket and the so-called "Ike jacket" and the B-13 jacket that was similar to the "Ike". All the different combinations were wonderful, it was uniform with a touch of flair. We wear both good reproductions and original uniforms including original shoes.

  • @x11baker
    @x11baker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    During WWII officers wore dark jacket and tan pants, enlisted men wore dark jacket and dark pants. As my dad said, you could easily recognize who to salute, and/or avoid.

    Finally, this was a great uniform and it is good to see it again! The material is better and it is great to see the Army went first class on this. It is well worth the cost. We made much less in the 70's and you had to get several different types of uniforms and it was even worse for female soldiers. We wound up spending much more in real terms when you considered our pay. Many of us got some of our uniforms from the Thrift Shop so that we would not have to dig so far into our pockets and the clothing allowance never covered all the expenses. The Army Uniform that followed the Pink and Greens was bad and that is what I had when I first came in. My relatives who served in World War II (my uncles and step father) looked so much sharper than we did in the 70's. The the changes after that until now went from bad to worse. "The Blues" belong back in a formal setting and that change back to tradition is really welcome news. As a retiree, I am so happy to see our young soldiers and officers back in a uniform that makes them look sharp. It really improves Our Army's appearance to me. What a fantastic improvement. Army Strong!

    I'm curious, if you are let's say something like airborne, are you going to have the exception where you have your pants bloused into your jump boots? Will there be a brown version of said boots? What about units such as airborne, rangers, special forces which use berets? I'm just kind of low-key curious about how some of the units that have uniform exemptions will function

    As a 25 year US Army NCO retiree, I an happy to see the US Army return to it's "Military" roots with the Pinks & Greens. It represents a proper Service Uniform. Not the wanna be business suits I wore after 1979, which never looked right. The only exception are my Dress Blues, which are back to being a Special dress uniform as it was intended to be. The Army got off course in years past following the Air Forces idea of a uniform, but should have stayed with the Traditional uniform as the Navy and Marine Corp had. I am glad to see a return to what was best and traditional.

    The Air Force should adopt the Army Service Blues since they would look better with it than the Army themselves. I've seen people in the Army get confused with being an Airline Pilot haha.

    The current ASU is more historical. Reminds me of the civil war uniform.

    Interestingly, the WW II officers shown at 0:34 were Lt. Gen. Carl Spaatz, Lt. Gen Jimmy Doolittle, Maj. Gen William Kepner and Col. Donald Blakeslee of the 8th Air Force, US Army Air Forces. They would all go on the help form the USAF after WW II. They all finished their careers in blue.
