I'm a little split between the two versions regarding the character VS portraits.
On the PS2 version, they look natural, but with washed colors.
On the XB360 version, while the color contrast is better, some characters got their hair proportions flattened (take Nakoruru for example, not much hair fluff on the HD redone version compared to the original).
The portraits colors are better in the Xb version, but about the art itself, its pretty tied. Some chars have better portrait art in ps2, others in Xb.
Artistic reason is probably due to Ougra finding his art style... which is still not figured out actually, since his current art style has his softer proportion style yet the roughness, complexity and shading style of the old one
Neo Geo being the softest out of all the art style Ourga go with, which although is in like with the game’s art style and does “subjectively” looks better because it’s at a higher resolution, cleaner looking with thinner lines, shows more of the character and more defined shading.... He kind of strip away too much tiny detail, complexity or proportion relating to the character like Mudman’s mask texture and feature, the fluffiness of the hair replaced by more sharper defined hair
Overall, I’m a KOF XIII fanboy so... I prefer the new gen one... but I do know that it’s heavily subjective in which one is better... except for KOF 94 to 95, 95 is just way better
Personally I hate how the 360 version decided to smooth out the character sprites. It makes them look too blurry in comparison the scrips and edgier sprites of the ps2 version
The PS2 is better in my opinion, I think a reason why alot of stuff was omitted in the 360 version is because in the early days of XBLA there was a uploaded cap to at least 100MB to 350MB of space

Para mí los escenarios 2d son mejores y antes de que alguien me diga que estoy loco, simplemente los escenarios 3d a excepcion de metal slug no tienen nada de neogeo, son solo escenarios sin ida, los escenarios 2d dan ese toque que dices oye este escenario es de tal juego ese personaje lo reconozco, sientes que estás jugando algo que represente a las franquicias
@@delfinogarcia5047 Los Escenarios de las version de Xbox 360 son vacios sin Vida, los de la version de PS2 tenia cameos de personajes de otros juegos de NeoGeo.
Ojala que relanzaran el juego para PS4/PS5 pero con la opcion elegir los escenarios clasicos.

Bear has a Gi on in the 360 version. Neverr noticed before lol. I think PS2 has better backgrounds 360 has better sprites. We need NGBC 2.

I must say,I feel more comfortable with the PS2 version just because there's SNK characters in the background being audience members.XBOX version seems kinda....naked without it.. Feels more lonely & isolated,if that makes sense.
Agreed, plus the ps2 has all the backgrounds I love in general. Those 2d ones are some of their best work.

one thing that you didn't cover is load times, if im not mistaken the xbox version barely has any load times. I remember the arcade version had extremely long load times, and i think the PS2 did as well.
Muy bueno!!! Tuve la versión de PS2 en aquellos días y me pareció excelente. No tuve la oportunidad de jugarlo en XBOX 360.

La diferencia es que tienen nuevos Stages (mejor estan los de PS2) y nuevas ilustraciones de los personajes al ganar y tienen mejor filtro grafico.

Mira, el hecho de que está en WIDESCREEN ya lo hace bueno para mí.
Difference is, PS2 version is physical media, and can last you a long time, the XBox 360 version sooner or later won't be able to be accessed anymore once servers die. More stages and modes in the PS2 version is also key, and it isn't a game that is all that expensive. The 360 version is a small download, explains why it has less stages, but to have less modes on a newer version is inexcusable.
Yeah, that may be true, but once hackers get things rolling I can guarantee you that it won't be gone forever and you'll have something like Xbox live on the 360 again as well as someone making a backup of the game itself.
Just look at the original Xbox, it's back online again. The Wii has been back online after Nintendo shut the services for the Wii down.

@@trueultimagod2465 Nothing beats owning a physical copy though, you don't have unlimited redownloads of a game you purchased, and at any time SNK can just up and decide to take the game and delist it. And if they did, and you didn't already own it, goodbye purchase (though on PSN you can redownload delisted games you bought if memory serves me right, but then again I won't go deleting Simpson's arcade or Marvel Origins to see if this works).
I think the Xbox 360 version is better in my opinion because it has better character portraits and an online mode. I do like the stages in both versions though.
Biggest difference is resolution and aspect ratio 360 is gonna look WAY better on modern TVs because of those 2 factors. I just got this for free on XBLG. Cool game! XSX obviously plays this upscaled to 4k with HDR and it looks the best this game can possibly look.
Ps2 on a high res pvm or pc crt monitor look way better/cleaner especially on the 2D sprites than all of that upscaling nonsense lol.

Ola tudo bem, gostei de seu canal, pois tb faço comparativos de versões em alguns vídeos, e como sou fã dos jogos da SNK NEOGEO, digo que os cenários, a qualidade gráfica e a renderização dos personagens na versão Xbox 360 é muito melhor que no PS2, pq não tem os serrilhamentos e alguns estagios ficam melhores sem versão 3D, no minuto 2:19 vc percebe que a cicatriz de Washizuka esta ao contrário na versão PS2 em comparação ao Xbox.
Um detalhe importante que os cenários em 3D perdem para os 2D o tamanho, eles diminuem.
If Code Mystic ever port Neo Geo Battle Coliseum to PS4/5, They'd use the 360 Version like they did with KOF '02's Remaster.
One is meant for CRT TV and the other is meant for HD TV so keep that in mind with aliasing because you wouldn't see aliasing on a CRT as much as on an HD.

5:01 I like the Xbox 360 version of that stage a bit more, with the power crystals on both sides, and the bright light coming from something mysterious, in the background. That stage looks like something you would see in Blaze Blu. But the PS2 version of that stage looks nice too.
Muito difícil! Considero empate, pois o X-box ganha nas novas artes e em widescreen (principalmente nas TVs mais modernas), porém perde no zoom in/off (um charme no game) e em cenários que aparecem outras figuras bem conhecidas da SNK. O Xbox ganha na estética e o PS2 no todo
Lousy new artwork, certainly. The sketched, zoomed-in portraits look much better and convey way more personality.
Best version of the game is still the original arcade one. PS2 version's loading times touches my nerves.
I loved the 360 version, but removing the NPCs and the 2D backgrounds was a bad decision IMO. At least game has polished sprites (and they correct some graphical defects in sprites that were carried over from KOF2002).
Well,it does work pretty well on pcsx2 now.

The art for the character win screens on the ps2 are a mixed bag. The secret bosses are easier to reach in the 360 version which has better online. It's hard to say which version is better.

The fact that this game on 360 is super cheap and accessible, the art is completely new and WIDESCREEN (not stretched, but true 16:9) even on the intro, makes it the definitive version imo. Also, the arcade ladder on PS2 being a sort of survival mode is weird for me.

O problema do Xbox 360 é que não apresenta NPCs em seus cenários, já que os cenários novos já faria este console ganhar muitos pontos. Porém sem os personagens ao fundo dos cenários deixa o game com um valor menor

But X-box version is from 2005
That was the Japanese version from what i heard. The loading times in the western version arent that bad to me.
Only the European version has long loading times. The American version has shorter load times, but at the cost of the music restarting each round.

Personally I think the PS2 version is better but Ill give the Xbox 360 Version some credit where its due. I honestly wished they would port the HD version of this game to PC one day because i love a lot of the exclusive stages, enhanced sound, better winning screen portraits, and from what i heard a decent online experience tho i not too worried about that one. (Im just hoping SNK would be nice enough to add the rest of the stages, plus even give us the option of using the original PS2 art, or at least let us have a gallery mode and all the other good extra stuff in the PS2 version).
But the reason why i love the PS2 version more aside me actually owning the game, i like the artwork better in the roster though the winner screen not as much, and like i stated above the gallery modes, but also the color edits, more stages, and just a near arcade perfect experience from the Atomiswave (Arcade) version. This game is honestly a underrated and overlooked gem and its WAY better than Capcom Fighting Jam as well.

Have they made this video to make it look like you can be 2 extra fighters in the 360 version that you cant in the ps2 version ?
There are no extra characters in the XB360 version that the PS2 version does not have. Both versions have the same amount of fighters to select, and the same ones between both. The 2 blank spots you see on the PS2 version are unlockable characters on the PS2 version, classic Goddess Athena and Mars People.

Prefiro a versão do PS2 por ser uma conversão melhorada do arcade , além do estilo artístico incomparável e não ter aquele filtro vesgo da versão do X360, ainda possui um gameplay muito superior, o aspect ratio da 'nova' versão matou a jogabilidade de alguns personagens, fighting game em 16/9 tem que ser inteiramente refeito, não basta só adaptar.
(a versão da PSN é so um port porquíssimo do PS2, fujam).
I prefer the PS2 version because it is an improved arcade conversion, in addition to the incomparable artistic style and not having that cross-eyed filter of the X360 version, it still has a much superior gameplay, the aspect ratio of the 'new' version killed the gameplay of some characters , fighting game on 16/9 has to be entirely redone, not enough to just adapt.
(the PSN version is just a lazy port of the PS2, run away).

They should have placed Ralf as he is one of the Ikari Warriors (one of SNK's flagship games).
But I sort of get why they gave priority to other characters. For me, seeing the World Heroes characters was the best surprise of all.
I like the PS2 version best. It has the original, detailed character selection artwork before it got redone for the HD release, and I also like the PS2 exclusive stages way more than the 360 exclusive stages.

Eu aposto que o tempo do jogo e resposta aos comandos são melhores no x360. Falo isso me baseando em KOF 2002 UM e KOF 98 UM, que são mais bonitos no PS2 mas tem jogabilidade melhor no x360 e na Steam (que é um port do x360).
Falando em port, bem que a SNK poderia lançar esse jogo no PC. Sendo Windows seria um pulo.
Tenho a versão do Xbox 360 em retrocompatibilidade do Xbox One. Achava que no PS2 fosse a mesma coisa, talvez com poucas diferenças. Mas vendo o vídeo, parece que no conjunto total o PS2 é melhor.

Year late, but the 360 version IS playable on the XBOX ONE.
Eu lembro de ter jogado esse game quando saiu no PS2 e ter odiado ele, eu não lembro se foi pela jogabilidade, eu to com vontade de comprar no Xbox mas ele nunca entra em promoção, está sempre custando 50 reais, e não quero pagar isso nele já que não sei se vou gostar.
Se nos prendermos apenas ao âmbito visual, a versão do Xbox 360 tem detalhes ricos em comparação a versão de PlayStation 2. Mas aí... Vêm a parte de jogabilidade, que passa principalmente pelo controle. E aqui, não tem como, pelo menos para mim, escolher a versão do Xbox 360. O controle do console da Microsoft é bem ergonômico e confortável para jogos como FPS, que aliás é o carro-chefe da marca (Halo e Gears of War que o digam), mas, o controle é onde tive a pior experiência da minha vida jogando jogos de luta. O pior é justamente NÃO SE SENTIR NO CONTROLE da ação, algo que pra quem joga é de maior interesse.
Por isso acho que a versão do PlayStation 2 leva vantagem para mim.

@@eddiexavier2752 eu comentei isso pois não é todos que pensam ou compram um controle arcade ou um modelo baseado no Sega Saturn somente para jogar no console novo dele. Além disso, como disse, o controle do Xbox 360 é pensado com um tipo de alvo padrão de jogador, e quem joga jogos de luta não está nesse padrão.
A primeira vez que eu joguei esse jogo foi no PS2, mas hoje em dia só jogo a versão do Xbox 360 pois é em HD e eu acho bem melhor!
PS2 Rodaria perfeitamente essas Sprites em alta resolução do xbox, tem jogos na plataforma q provam isso como Hokuto no Ken.

A versão do Xbox apresenta uma resolução melhor dos personagens. A do PS2 são mais pixelados.
Mas a versão de PS2 tem suporte a 240p e 480p, em TVs CRT e PVM, a imagem no PS2 fica magnífica tanto com cabo composto quanto com componente.
Versão do Xbox 360 muito melhor, foram remodelados todos os personagens
Faz uma continuação com esse jogo com cenas de luta.

Duvido...visto o jogo ter saido originalmente na Atomiswave.Acaba por ser um pouco parecido com o KOF Neo Wave,que aproveitou muito material do KOF2002,mas com capacidades 3D para cenários...
Sem cenários 3d, claro. E sem aquela abertura talvez. E também tem chances que tivesse um elenco menor. Não muito, mas ainda assim menor.

Phantom Lord, I see you cannot accept reality. Let's see if you can still play this game in 20 years, after the servers are likely long dead, and the console you have it on is long past it's expiration date. If you take care of a DVD, it can last you many, many years before bit rot sets in, advantage PS2.
