I tried doing an English translation (please tell me if anything is seriously wrong): [Video Guide] Step by step guide to hit Umiyuri style patterns 0:00 (Top right) - Honestly, it's hard to articulate how to hit this pattern. 0:00 - It seems like there are quite a few people who struggle with Umiyuri Kaiteitan's characteristic pattern. 0:08 - People who aren't used to it find the delay between the star and slide difficult. 0:14 - I'll show the steps to be able to do this pattern, so please try follow them. 0:20 - Step 1: Ignore the slides and remember how the notes come at you. 0:29 - There's no point if you aren't hitting the notes in the first place, so try learn them properly. 0:38 (Top right) - Note that the hand that does not do the slide hits the pink note. 0:40 - Step 2: Now try hit only the yellow notes and slides, and try figure out their timing. 0:49 - Repeat this many times to learn exactly when to complete each slide. 0:58 - Afterwards, combine steps 1 and 2 and you'll be set. 1:07 - Well, I think it's also ok to just not actively focus on this pattern, but I'd be glad if this video helped you. Description: Please subscribe to my channel. Yuu here. This isn't a completely detailed way to deal with this pattern. People generally can either hit this pattern or they can't. As I said in the video, it's fine to not actively focus on this pattern because one day you'll just "get" it.
Only way I could master this as a 12k/13k player is to shadow practice a lot. Either by watching a video and waving your hands in the air or use a sufficiently big screen like a monitor or a TV to emulate the feeling of executing the pattern. Like the guy wrote, focus on hitting the taps first and ignore the slides until you can figure out how the notes are coming and how you should hit them. The slides are always done on the side where the pink tap appeared last. There is a part where it makes you tilt your head and/or body and you have no choice but to probably do that too to compensate the angle your elbow will have to bend. When it flips to the other side, it's actually a mirror and starts with two yellow taps first than a pink tap towards the bottom and then slide to the bottom. The part right after it has one slide inverted to go up, which is actually a lot easier than you think, but again practicing it repeatedly is the best way to build your muscle memory for it. The very last slide patterns should be the easiest as it is only sliders at 4 distinct spots and directions. Generally speaking, you might want to spread your arms and your elbows a bit outwards to make sliding easier (at least for me it is how figured it out) Don't expect good outcome immediately after one or two practices; you want to do it after some interval of rests or maybe another two or three days. One good song chart with an easier variant of this pattern for practicing would 妄想感傷代償連盟 (Mousou Kanshou Daishou Renmei) at Re:MASTER Lv. 13 under niconico & Vocaloid genre. I am not an exceptional player but I am so glad to master this chart.
