I studied people like Miyazaki Tsutomu during high school for projects (ie Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold), and I personally believe his lack of any real support system in his personal life - family, friends, emotional, etc - was the catalyst for Tsutomu's disturbed personality. Outside of his grandfather, he had really no solace to look to other than entertainment mediums. For the record I am not blaming entertainment itself, but if he had an actual support network that was long-lasting then he would have been able to develop during his younger years in a healthy way, or even channel his frustrations into his hobbies and passions in a positive way; apparently he turned to his younger sisters for help once and they brushed him off. Either way, this... man is gone and the families of his victims found some much needed peace in the end.
You ever seen a shredded well groomed school shooter ? Not hating on "Nerds", there are underlying reasons people looking to escape. People should try to treat those, but I guess easier to label and judge people than helping them. Most countries dont even bother considering mental health a problem. Whats a few bodies if people shame and judge each other into keeping their head down right ?
I almost jumped at the fact that one of the last names of the girls is Yoshizawa & that’s my family’s last name, but I’m positive it’s no relation then you said Erika which is my name making it more unsettling… this case was really interesting I feel like even nowadays people still connect “nerd/otakus” to shut in people who lack the ability to integrate into society & turn out like “this”
Great content, but I find the filters quite distracting at times. Perhaps it's a bit ironic to complain about what is a camera related phenomena, but the Chromatic Aberration does give me a bit of a headache looking at it sometimes. I highly appreciate the old-school VHS approach to the presentation but yeah. It's a bit too strong. As for Tsutomu, I feel that his turning point must have been partly as a result of joining video clubs. He must have come in contact with illicit material when he started collecting tapes. I'm sure this theory has been talked about to death, as it's not exactly hard to notice. Perhaps his grandfather's death pushed him over the edge, but I think that the culture of sharing tapes back then lead a lot of people (especially in the west) towards subcultures they weren't aware of previously, which defined their life.
It's very common in Japan to let young school children go out by themselves, even to ride the subway or walk to school. It's considered part of their self development, education, learning to be independent.

His crimes were absolutely disgusting, but that doesn’t change the fact that a country that still utilize the death penalty can’t call itself a modern civilized society! When you look at the company kept by countries that still lack abolishing this barbaric practice, it’s not hard to see why this statement is true - and I find it hard to understand that some people are still so primitive….
I'm from Brazil and here the prison sentences are extremely light. That's one of the reasons why Brazil is one of the most dangerous and violent countries in the world. @@mat_correa Fun fact, death penalty doesn’t reduce violent crimes! You don’t make people more civilized by becoming less civilized yourself! One of the countries in the world with the lowest rate of recidivism is Norway - it’s so because they try to focus on why people committed a crime, and how it’s possible to rehabilitate them! And in the few cases where someone can’t be rehabilitated and released into society again, there’s no reason to keep them under inhumane conditions! Heck, one of Europes worst terrorists, the mass-murderer Anders Breivik, is imprisoned in Norway - his cell is more akin to a small two room apartment than what people usually associate with prison cells - and he will probably have to stay there for a long time! What a vile monster this man became. That description of his second murder, made my blood boil. That fact that he did this to children, is horrific.

nothing can justify his act, lack of support isn't a justification to his act he took that decision and he was well aware

A video on what happened at KyoAni would be great!
The arrest of this person gave rise to the stereotype that ``the nerd is a would-be criminal and is creepy enough to become a murderer.''

It’s not that all nerds are psychopathic killers. It’s that all the psychopathic killers were nerds.

Not too late for that crunchyroll sponsorship
Geez what a grim case. Also, please be careful with your background music from a certain game. Too risky for your channel imo!
Thank you for pronouncing the Japanese name as it should be, not the world most of the West have done.

Father and Older sister from what I've heard.

Insane that a family would let kids as young as 4 venture out alone at night or early morning🤯😭

This is Japan we're talking about. Most japanese parents teach their kids to memorize the local area.
