  • We hope the spirit and beauty of the University of St Andrews comes through with these photos and the spoken message from Professor William Fowler given at the opening ceremony for incoming Arts and Divinity Students. The speech took place on 8th Sept 2014 in the Younger Hall, St Andrews. No copyright infraction intended and this video is only inspirational and educational purposes and not for commercial use.

Thank you very much for your beautiful work. The inspirational and encouraging words of Professor William Fowler seem to be not only for the students of University of St. Andrews but also for all brilliant students in many other good schools everywhere, today. Many thanks to the Professor!

Site-unseen in Covid year of 2021, my daughter is headed to St. Andrews because of this speech. She got tears in her eyes and said, “These are my people.”
I am moved by the optimism and joy.
