Stunning work, Truly! However: if I may, there is one thing that could’ve had a bigger impact in my opinion, take it as you will.
The moment the son decides to go switching the lever in the place of his old man, doesn’t have as much impact as it could have. The “father who shouldn’t have to bury his son” is a universally strong theme and speaks to everyone on a pretty deep level. The problem is the *reason* the son takes the place of the father doesn’t feel merited enough. Let me explain.
When the son says “let me go”, the father just seems to accept it, whereas I would think any loving father would fight before accepting such eventuality. You make it very clear that time is of the essence with the various countdowns mentioned, however nobody runs or rushes. I would’ve suggested the old man have more of a physical handicap (say a cane seeing as in stop motion lego it’s more difficult to animate) which makes it impossible for him to reach the lever on time. Which in turn makes the choice of letting his son go in his stead much more impactful as even if the old man wanted to run to the lever, he’s *incapable* of doing so.
The son should also run to the lever instead of dramatically walk in my opinion.
Such a slight modification would change the entire feeling of their relationship as seen by the spectator, and make the “choice” be the only option.
All that being said, this was an incredibly moving piece and technically beautiful. Well done and I hope to see more of your work!! 🙌

Thanks for your thoughts! Well written. Did you catch the Son's line about the Argonne Forest? He's a soldier; it's in his nature to lay down his life. His Father knew that, and ultimately made the greater sacrifice by having to live with the grief of the Son's loss.

This story has great work into it, and for yall who say the boy could've rolled away, you are wrong. The bridge would've popped back up if i wasin' for the son. If the bridge is strong enough to hold the train, the bridge would be stronger than the train making it if the boy rolled away, the bridge would go up slowly, cause the train to crash, and create an explosion probably big enough to kill the father too (with the 100s of people actually ON the train.
This story made me cry, of course. But mostly at the end when the father took the sons hat too, I know none of yall will see this review, but yhea thats my opinion

@@cullenb.4260 dude if he got hit by the train he wouldn't be able to keep the lever down and the bridge would keep going up according to your explanation also It seems to have fixed itself because in the end of the video its still down meaning it would take some time for it to go up again and cause a derailment.

These are the sacrifices actual people are willing to make. Even at the cost of their own lives, if it means that they can save others, even if it's not guaranteed, if there's even a slim chance, you'd be surprised at the caring and selfless things people are willing to leave the world a better place once they're gone.

Very beautifully made! The music and the sounds fit the bill.
The techniques used in this are also very beautiful!

What the heck. This is insane. Beautiful. Amazing. Awesome. Incredible. Talented. I love this, I don’t even want to know how long this took you, but it’s insane. The backgrounds alone must’ve taken FOREVER, let alone getting the lighting, camera angles, an everything else. Amazing and splendid work!!
Edit: It’s so sad! Even though it was short, it actually made me tear up

A perfect representation of God and Jesus. The son, willingly going to the cross to die for our sins. The father having to let Him, knowing it would make a way for you and me. He did it for the chance that we would accept His free gift of grace. Yet people, like on the train, may never acknowledge the sacrifice he made. Thank you Jesus.

everything about this short film is fantastic, and as the loco and its train approaches you can feel the tension rising with every puff of smoke and steam coming out of the funnel, and if you look at the faces, you can see the dread in their faces, absolutely fantastic this short film is, that shows our dangerous working for the railways were in the early - mid 20th century. 10/10
