The 'Ballroom e Youkouso" anime didn't exaggerate their posture and movements. Amazing...

It’s such an amazing sport. The movements are smooth and the face expressions are just awesome. So relaxing. Thank you for sharing❤

How come ballroom dancing is not in the Olympics but instead breakdancing is… break dancing is so subjective..

Breaking (as it's called these days) was a one and done deal and won't be back for 2028

Can anyone tell me how these couples keep from slamming into each other? Amazing to watch. I'm just trying to figure out traffic control. 😆🤷🏻‍♀️

I do ballroom dancing, not that I’m an any expert or even close, but from what I’ve found, it’s subtle changes in the angle of turns and lengths of their strides. Not anything revolutionary apologies but that’s my understanding.

It's called floorcraft. The best dancers perfect floor etiquette and have the skill to change direction without hesitation and continue with the flow of their routine.

    • @thomasmcnerney9745

      It is called "floor craft"
The male should always be aware of the surrounding competitor's on the dance floor.

I ballroom dance with my wonderful lady.
It’s the Man’s job to navigate the dance floor. My teachers have always said it best: the man is the frame of a picture, and the lady is the painting itself. A painting cannot exist without a frame, and the male is the frame. Basically the man is in charge of navigating the floor, and if there’s a bump into another couple the male is the one to blame.
I’m learning how to navigate the floor with tango as of right now, and It’s a lot of thinking.
Now these guys? They’re the epitome of experts. It’s insane how fast they think, BUT this what they do for a living, because I bet you right now what they are doing is not even a thought for them. It’s insanely impressive… and I’m far from a pro!

you have a line of dance that everybody follows, from that u just need to make small adjustments to avoid colliding, its the Man's job to be aware of the floor, hope it cleared out for u, i'm a national champ of ballroom if u have anymore questions feel free to ask :D

Can somebody who is in charge of how these dances should be danced please let the women pick their heads back up? Over the years this trend of wanting the heads back at such an extreme angle has gotten worse and worse. Pretty soon they will expect to see the head laying flat against the back while they try and perform a quick step or slow fox trot. Absurd.

They are good athletes and that’s the way they progress in dancing. It’s same as walking on your toe in ballet. If you do it with proper technique and do adequate exercises, you can manage to keep your muscle health. Artificially tampering the rules will often backfire and would be very obviously unpopular.

None of them are actually leaning back, especially not in quickstep. Their weight is forward with good use of the rib cage and shoulder blades.

@@Peter-hz3vs I appreciate the comment. And I get it that it's just the way form progresses. Personal opinion I think it's gotten a bit extreme.

I just want to say gender roles are ok in dancing in fact they are OK in life we need them to survive. It's strikes me funny a young man is dancing the male part but dressed as a women. And a couple both dressed the male part. It's ok to have natural gender roles ppl please know that

I'm in the boat of if they want to dance they should be able to dance but I will always just think they kinda look out of place and just don't give the same vibe or elegance as a tradition couple
+ they have to do soo much better to get similar result as other because they attract so much more attention that mistake are seen more so take that as you will

I was competing in modern 35 years ago. Never went terribly far. Have paid zero attention to it since the mid '90s. Yes all these dancers are terribly skillful. But heavens above, it all looks plastic!
