IPhone 11 and 12 for sure has a built in way to deal with this. It tells the called to leave message if their number is not in your contacts list. Big big problem is when someone like your Doctor or Dentist Office calls you from some number other than the one that you use to call them. Tap on Settings then tap on Phone, Tap on Silence Unknown Callers and turn it on. Doctors and Dentist know about this and will (or should) send you an email about what they want you to know.
This is a pretty loaded topic which is infuriating and the FCC should be enforcing this. This isn't something we need to pay for and experience differently across carriers. Definitely more Verizon commercial than helpful info.

Simple solution: If it's a number you're not familiar with, just don't answer! Only answer if the number has a name with it in your contacts. If you're expecting a call from somewhere/someone you don't have saved as a contact, either put them in your contacts beforehand, or let your phone go to voice mail when they do call. If it's anyone who's actually trying to get ahold of you for one reason or another, they'll leave a voice mail. Most scammers don't bother with leaving a voice mail.
They did. It's been there for awhile. Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers. The phone won't ring. The number will show up in your recent call list & they can leave a message. So if it's important you can add them to your contacts. If it's truly spam, just block the number.

Also, once you have the app downloaded in the phone settings section of your iphone you can hit “SMS/Call Reporting” and turn it on which will give you a “native” report option at the bottom of texts and for calls that you do not have saved as contacts… so you don’t even have to bother opening and using the UI of the “Call Filter” app. Also regardless of whether you have a spam call app, iPhone has a built in festive to block unknown numbers. Though it can be a bit toooo restrictive as it will silence any number you don’t have in your contacts. Though I believe they can still leave a message.
I am gonna be honest. I had this on my phone for over two years and it made the calls worse. Instead, I answer the phone "hello, you're on a recorded line" and they hang up immediately.
Simple solution, if the phone doesn’t recognize the number and lets you know on the screen who it is , DONT ANSWER. If they leave a message , call back if you want… if they don’t WHO CARES WHO IT WAS…. not a big deal really

Googles got a great filter where it has an automated voice prompt telling the caller to state their name and why they are calling and transcribes it into text so you can decide to answer it or not
When you get a call do you get the Call Filter caller ID because me and my mom both have the free version of the app and she gets the caller ID and I don’t how do I fix that? 🤔

I need this in my life, but I have a question. I've been applying to different jobs lately. How do I know if it's a potential job calling or a spam? I usually don't answer then check the messages later. If no message it was a spam. If yes message saying, "We liked your application please get back to us," then not spam. BUT! I have to leave the phone on vibrate so it doesn't bug me or just not answer.
I do "Silence unknown callers" What this does is, if I do not have the number saved, I do not get the call. I do get a ringing notification on the top left corner of the phone, but the phone does not ring or light up, etc. and after they have ended the call, a notification comes saying that I have a silenced call. If they are a real caller, they will leave a voicemail and I can check that when I am free or they will leave a text message, etc.

What this does is, if I do not have the number saved, I do not get the call.
