@@chowzisiong7800 Yes, i always love kelong. I stayed overnight in a kelong at Telok Sengat (near Desaru, JB) before. It was very fun. We had BBQ seafood dinner, and karaoke till late. But i doubt we can do it in Singapore kelong though, need to know the right people to bring you in.
@@AlleyCat888 right. that sounds fun! i was lucky to stay at kelongs in Msia and Indonesia.. can't rmb more precise locations as those were way over a decade ago. went out on fishing trips in the late noon onwards during those trips. really missing them.

Enjoyed the video 👍🏼 I've lived in Pasir Ris >20 years, and am able to sight the kelongs from my flat. Nvr knew it's reachable by paddle and one of them is actually a floating restaurant! Keep up the good work & look fwd to more of your SUP adventures 🙂

@@user-hl2uc5kj1e I can't speak about the food as i had only tried their beef horfun so far 😅 but i think their fish and calamari are very good (based on reviews). For SUP, I would recommend that you contact my friend Winson (see Description for his contact details), he provides SUP lesson, rental and also organised trip to Sungei Simpang/Ubin, check out my video titled "This can't be Singapore" for a glimpse of what is it like SUPing there. As you are young, I think you can try going to Sg Simpang with him on your first lesson, it will take about 3 hours but absolutely worth it. Once you are more comfortable and committed, you may consider buying SUP board from him, or from Decathlon. Hope it helps, enjoy SUPing!!

@@LailaSuyat1025 Yes, please do it, you will love it! Try to get more ppl to go if possible, as the boat fare is the same, more ppl will give you lower average cost per person. But ring them out first to find out how many ppl can the boat take. Probably not more than 8
Yeah, first time was always very nervous😅. I had since crossed the same channel alone many times, still slightly nervous every time, but kind of used to it already.
Been there once, it was beautiful and " nice " experience ... I might have enjoy more if I wasn't aquaphobia. It was stressful and full of anxiety for me ( at a start ) and what make it worst was the water was so choppy then
Yes, that's correct, that's the way to get there. You may call the restaurant, and they will arrange it for you. When it comes to payment for the boat fare, you pay the boatman directly.

If the rain happened earlier, i would have just paddled towards the shore, won't be turning back to the kelong. As long as I cleared the channel, i am safe. that return leg is stressful... choppy waters, head wind... is there some regulation to make yourself more visible to vessels, like wearing bright colours or having blinkers on? need to carry passport (in case you drift too far)?

I am not aware of regulations to make oneself more visible for vessels, but for safety reason, it is in the best interest of every paddler to do that. Agreed that the return leg was more stressful, this cross channel route is really not for beginner paddlers. I made it appeared very scary in the video to deter beginners from attempting it 🤣. I advise paddlers to wear personal floating device (PFD) and leg leash every time they are out in the water just in case. PFD is usually very visible. Personally, i don't bring passport, but that's an interesting point, maybe i should do that going forward, haha.

Thanks for watching😄. No permit required as I was still within Singapore water throughout the entire journey. The water was very calm in the morning, so it was quite easy. Coming back was tougher, but still manageable.
How many "stars" do you need to be allowed to do that? Paddling from Pasir Ris/Pulau Ubin/Kelongs/Smith Marine, crossing that channel and back? Got inspired to paddle again! :)
I think there is no official requirement, but one has to do it at his/her own risk. My thinking is the paddler must at least have some experience in paddling on choppy water and possesses safety knowledge, know how to deal with situation where the SUP board capsized, know how to check weather conditions, how to increase chances of being visible to bigger vessels etc.
Haha, good suggestion! I actually contemplated this before, planning to use it as a back-up to paddle to St John Island. But gave up the idea as it appears that i need to obtain a license to operate a motorised paddle board 😅
@@AlleyCat888 haha, don't worry Der. No LTA on the seas. Only fishes n corals if there's is. If mod, I think need to get a motor with a big propeller. But seriously I seen people brought those hand propeller motors, as they dive into the sea... But wonder how long it last? Pls suggest gov to built charging points for it. Hahs

Yes, that's correct, that's the way to get there. You may call the restaurant, and they will arrange it for you. When it comes to payment for the boat fare, you pay the boatman directly.

that return leg is stressful... choppy waters, head wind... is there some regulation to make yourself more visible to vessels, like wearing bright colours or having blinkers on? need to carry passport (in case you drift too far)?
Thanks for watching. You raised very good questions! I am not aware of regulations to make oneself more visible for vessels, but for safety reason, it is in the best interest of every paddler to do that. Agreed that the return leg was more stressful, this cross channel route is really not for beginner paddlers. I made it appeared very scary in the video to deter beginners from attempting it 🤣. I advise paddlers to wear personal floating device (PFD) and leg leash every time they are out in the water just in case. PFD is usually very visible. Personally, i don't bring passport, but that's an interesting point, maybe i should do that going forward, haha.

Thanks for watching😄. No permit required as I was still within Singapore water throughout the entire journey. The water was very calm in the morning, so it was quite easy. Coming back was tougher, but still manageable.
How many "stars" do you need to be allowed to do that? Paddling from Pasir Ris/Pulau Ubin/Kelongs/Smith Marine, crossing that channel and back? Got inspired to paddle again! :)
I think there is no official requirement, but one has to do it at his/her own risk. My thinking is the paddler must at least have some experience in paddling on choppy water and possesses safety knowledge, know how to deal with situation where the SUP board capsized, know how to check weather conditions, how to increase chances of being visible to bigger vessels etc.
Haha, do they farm beef there? By the way, for the vessel, we called them 'her' instead of 'him'.
I planned to go there just to get a drink next time, lol.
Btw, u kinda need to mod your kayak... Put a mini motor will save much of your effort! Gov NV say cannot mod kayak.. haha.
Haha, good suggestion! I actually contemplated this before, planning to use it as a back-up to paddle to St John Island. But gave up the idea as it appears that i need to obtain a license to operate a motorised paddle board 😅

Thanks for watching. You can basically kayak to any Singapore islands, no need to inform coast guard, with a big caveat that you are doing it at your own risk. Pulau Ubin still relatively easier. It is very challenging to kayak to the islands in the south of Singapore.
