Kind of a soft reboot yeah, imagine how it must've felt for Josuke, Rohan, Koichi and the others to suddenly feel the time accelerating 2 times and then everything going back to normal. Or how it must've felt for Giorno and his gang to remember Bruno and then suddenly remember a different Bruno.
And even if everyone else forgets it all, the only one that will remember no matter what will be Giorno since GER nullifies the effects of others stands on him.

The way Sheera easily understood the ending when it is extremely misinterpreted is crazy. I'm sure patreon users already explained this, but, everything from the previous parts still happened. Only the events from part 6 changed

I've had some shows completely ruined for me because of unnecessarily bleak "dead but replaced with a copy" plot threads before, and applyng that to an entire series continuity would be a bummer-and-a-half.

*Ok so a little bit of information for those that are confused about Stone Ocean's ending:*
When Pucci died during the second cycle before it was even finished the universe tried to fix itself, but this time without him. And so Fate decided to reward Emporio by making a new universe which is a recreation of the first one but the events of Part 6 never happened because Pucci doesn't exist anymore. Essentially making the lives of the Part 6 cast in this new universe for the best!!
And because the events of Part 1-5 still happened in this new universe that means that they were still fated to fight DIO (specially Jotaro) but this time around because Pucci doesn't exist DIO didn't have anyone to trust his plans about Heaven and Jotaro didn't have to be worried about so many Stand users coming for him and he now has a more healthy relationship with his daughter.
Also Jolyne's name (Irene) is different as she now lacks the "Jojo" nickname in her name because it's a symbolism to say that she is now FREE from the Joestar Curse of fighting DIO and his consequences. And thus finally ending this battle between the Joestars and DIO that has been going for over a century.
If you want a more detailed explanation about the ending I recommend checking Hamon's Beat video called: "What Happened at the End Stone Ocean?" where he goes in full details about everything.
It's a bittersweet ending since all of them made it in a way, just not in the way we wanted it them for.
But yeah Part 6 marks the end of the original Jojo storyline that has been going from Part 1-6.
Part 7 onwards takes place in a different continuity completely separate from the Part 6 ending with brand new characters and a new storyline.
David Productions has been such a amazing studio adapting Jojo so faithfully for the past *10 years* and if that Final Opening and Ending show us anything is that they are as a big of a Fans as we are of this franchise. So thank you, David Productions for putting the love and care in this 10 years that this franchise really deserves!!

Honestly, I still consider the stand to be the main villain with the user being accessory instead of the actual villain.
The fact the stand survived the user's death is evidenced that the stand could be considered seperate enough.

I got a little emotional watching Emporio react to seeing his friends again, knowing what he does and that they'll never know what was sacrificed to get where they are now
It reminds me of the kid from Part 4 that has to deal with his mom forever waiting for her husband while he knows that he’s been dead and Kira who pretended to be him is also dead. Emporio has it rough, but at least he can find peace in the fact everyone is now happy even though it’s not how they planned. Kid from Part 4 had a sad ending because don’t they say she continued to wait for his return hinting that she’s not taking care of herself and spiraling. Araki does not spare children lol

Fate looked at Emporio and how much of a good kid he is in spite how his life is and said, "Damn.... let's give this kid a break. We'll give him a ghost room to stay safe, a computer, a gun, a protagonist that'll treat him like a little brother, and books on what the antagonist is trying to accomplish and books that give him an idea on how to beat him."
The usage of the ending theme where Joleyne rolls down the window and it zooms in on Emporio was such a perfect use of music

It really fucking was. And she is so much "happier". And Ana is as well. As he said before she brings the best out of him and she feels the same. They now get to meet their friends and hopefully live well free of the Joestar Destiny.

Yes but she misunderstood one thing, the fact that Parts 1-5 still happened the exact same way.
She believes that EVERYTHING got reset. But only Part 6 got reset. Everything from Part 1-5 still happened. It's just that Pucci doesn't exist in this new universe, so when Jotaro found Dio's plan for heaven, he simply burnt it like he did originally but this time, that plan actually stayed with Jotaro and no one tried to get it out of him. And since Irene probably won't go to prison like Jolyne, Part 6 won't happen.

Quick explanation about the ending: The other parts still happened. The reset affected mainly the part 6 group.
We can see in the newest Rohan chapters that the lives of the part 4 characters are pretty much the same.

It's funny, because Pucci's original stand takes two things from you: Your stand, and thus your soul, and your memories. Pucci's idea of 'heaven' was a world where everyone has memories of the future, but his enemies' souls do not exist. After Emporio kills him, the universe gets reset to where the cast's souls are reborn, but with different 'memories', and thus are different people. They essentially lived their lives without the manipulation from Pucci, so it's a happier end for them, while EMporio has to bear the burden of knowing the old world alone.
That man emporio has to meet Rohan and change his memories because there isn’t a therapist qualified for what he went through

The manga author said that he reached his creative limits for jojo by the end of part 6, felt like he did everything but he still had so much creative stories to tell so he had to reboot and start fresh.

Though this storyline may have come to an end, a new one is born in its place. Goodbye Jonathan. Goodbye Dio. The ones who started this journey. And their descendants. Even though we move on, we will always remember you.

There's a lot to explain and unpack with the ending but I just wanna take a second to appreciate how gangsta Emporio been the whole battle. Little man was up against the most powerful stand we've ever seen and pulled the blicky, and when that didn't work he STILL pulled off the W. Jolyne trusting this 11 year old boy strangely paid off.
Araki's endings are always amazing, but this has to be my favorite.

Back in part 3, Oingo and Boingo actually shows how jotaro dies (getting his face sliced in half) but it wasnt really clear how or when it would happen
Fun Fact: Irene is the heroine of Araki's earlier manga, Gorgeous Irene.
When you actually listen to the lyrics of the EP "Distant Dreamer" it sums up Emporio's character.
To clarify, like many other people are in the comments, all of Parts 1- 5 still happened exactly as they were depicted in the show. Nothing changed about them. The only difference in this new universe is that Pucci was erased from existence, so everyone he had a "gravitational pull" on had their lives changed... which was just the cast of Part 6. Jolyne is still Jolyne, but her name is Irene now.
I have a lot of respect for Sheera figuring this out immediately. If anyone could instantly identify the meaning behind this ending, it would be her.
I mean, im sure some things have changed but nothing mayor, given that Orlando became Orland. Its a big, big change, but not that much at the same time.

I like the interpretation of this ending where it's like, with Pucci out the picture, this fate of this universe is just on a different timeline.
Like when Marty McFly returned to the future and everyone's lives were improved. This wasn't multiverse theory - They were the same people, just with their lives on a different path.
They're still in the original universe the only difference is Pucci did not exist so part 6 never happened. So parts 1-5 still happened so Jotaro is the same person but the rest of the stone ocean gang is different as their fates were tied to pucci.

1. Parts 1-5 still happened as they did, only the events of Part 6 and those related to it changed as Pucci , due to dying in the middle of his time acceleration, was erased from existence
2. The reason this ending was so controversial is because this is officially the ending of the original Jojo universe. And a lot of people were, understandibly, disappointed the previous Joestars aside from Jotaro didn't even get *cameo appearances* before we said goodbye
This last ending hits in a different level, it's one of the very few times Jojo's actually made me tear up lol
Let me explain. This is a 100% happy ending. The ones we saw at the end with the different names are the same souls as the characters we've watched all along. Their souls were dragged along two universes, so they no longer have their memories, but all the character development is etched in their souls. When Pucci died, he was left in universe 2, so it's like he never existed. Without him, nobody was there to remake the cult of Dio, so nobody went after Jotaro. Thus he never had to go into hiding and has a much better relationship with Irene.
This was one of the more emotional anime endings I’ve witnessed. I read the manga a few years ago, it was a mind bender so I’m glad to have seen this animated.
Im crying more than Lupa at Vinland Saga Finale, all jojo fans deserve this reaction, this is a great day
Parts 1-5 still happened at the end, nothing about them changed. It’s just part 6 that was changed because in the new timeline Pucci didn’t exist and all the main characters from part 6 lived happier lives, even Jotaro was able be a better father because without Pucci he wouldn’t have to worry about attracting so many stand users that would put Jolyne in danger.

In this new universe at the end everything that happened before still happened but Pucchi no longer exists so Jotaro never had to worry about his family being hunted by DIO's second in command and got to raise Jolyne, or Irene, properly.
Jolyne's name being changed to Irene symbolizes breaking the Joestar/JoJo family curse of DIO.
Sheera is always spot on! Fate is always a HUGe theme in Araki's works!

The opening change is a reference to the part 1 opening those manga pages flipping is what starts in part 1 opening and Jolyne and Pucci flying upwards is a reference to Part 3 opening with Jotaro and Dio. Since the universe did a reset cycle, the opening also did a cycle from part 1 to 6

Part 1 and 5 still happen, notice that only part 6 was the slide that changed. No pucci means no one to carry Dios Will and everyone gets a better life.
Because of Emporio’s victory, Pucci and all of his actions have been erased from the timeline.
Everything from part 1 to 5 still happened, but Jolyne and co. have been freed from the curse of the Joestar bloodline, represented by how they all have much better lives, and by how Jolyne’s new name no longer makes her a “JoJo”.
The next part will probably will the longest wait ever for a new anime jojo part 😭

Pucci’s world was undone. And this new world was essentially the same as the original world, except that Pucci never existed. (And other minor changes) Jolyne’s name change also signifies that she is free from the JoJo “curse”. Also ending the curse of Stands from the Joestar bloodline.
This has to be one of the craziest endings in fiction, gonna miss seeing jojo on this channel but glad I got to relive the show with you guys cause this was an insane journey
