I think this song is talking about an abusive relationship, the seahorse representing the main character's partner. At first the seahorse appeared as nice, they made the main character "jump over the sky", that sounds like a cool thing. But then, they "kidnap" her, which could mean that they become really possessive. In the second verse, either the seahorse guilt-trips the main character into staying or actually realizes that what he's doing is wrong. Either way, he doesn't stop, and the main character stays out of pity for her partner crying for her. In the last verse, the roles are reversed, the main character is the one to kidnap the seahorse and escape, to "quit biting the sand".
