    You know, in hindsight, I guess he WAS willing to be homogenous considering the flood basically makes everything one.

    Imagine being the ship master who, upon seeing the flood for the first time, being like, "I want in on that."

    I remember reading this when I was young. That elite was terrified to mutiny but even more terrified of the flood. Blew the shipmasters brains out with a needler and prayed the hunter pair guarding the control room wouldn’t kill him. Thankfully they and the rest respected his choice and allowed him to take command

    Fun Fact: It is considered in Sangheli and especially Covenant military forces that a mutiny or revolt aboard a vessel is not to be respected or recognized as an official change of command in any force…the thing is, the entire fleet and ships’ crew were both fine with and respected the officer who shot the Shipmaster for not being batshit crazy.

      Well, "wait, we promoted this nutjob and gave him a ship command?" would be embarrassing on the higher-ups. Basically just cleaner to pretend he never existed.

      @neojenshi4055 Too bad EA killed Dead Space because the third game didn’t reach the INSANE sells numbers EA wanted (partially because they forced Visceral to change up the game in ways the players and devs didn’t really want). Let’s hope with the remake selling like crazy and EA putting out their statement about mostly focusing on their own IPs we’ll get a remake of 2. As well as one that fixes various issues with the third game. One of the lead guys behind Dead Space 3 said he’d be up for remaking the third. They’d keep co-op because it allows them to have both players see different things and they’d also keep a lot of the lore. You’d just see some HEAVY revisions to the story and gameplay. It would also be awesome they’d remake Dead Space Mobile as a standalone dlc for 1 or 2, and remake that Wii rail shooter as a vr title.

      @Woodyisasexybeast I caught that as well.

    • @Woodyisasexybeast
      @Woodyisasexybeast  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @shreksnow1918 the fact that the mobile game isn’t playable tweaks the shit out of me. I’m trying to work my way through all of the Dead Space stuff because I plan to make some content about the series. Inaccessible games are really obnoxious roadblocks. All of my favorite series have them too. Halo (haven’t gotten to a fireteam Raven cabinet), Doom, Dead Space. Sigh

    • @shreksnow1918
      @shreksnow1918 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @Woodyisasexybeast Yeah. Such a shame so many games have become abandonware for numerous reasons (copyright hell, companies going under, games being locked to specific hardware/systems, and other things like that). If something’s abandonware and the rights holders outright refuse to legally distribute the games, then piracy should be legal (Nintendo being the BIGGEST offender and for whatever bizarre reason they’re waging war against emulation and ROM sites for games THEY NO LONGER SELL. If they were to make a digital store front they’d make a lot of money. It’s like what Valve says about how piracy is a service issue where if you provide a better service than what the pirates are offering most people will be willing to actually pay for the games).
      Haven’t played Fireteam Raven either because it’s an arcade game. Last year we were going to visit my relatives in Idaho and so we’ll fly into Utah then get a rental car. At one of the malls in Utah there was a Fireteam Raven cabinet, but it was out of order. Although, I have watched a play through on TH-cam and saw several videos talking about the game. Halo Canon has a video talking about the lore behind the characters, and sadly none of it is presented through the actual game. And one talking about various lore breaks where a fair amt of the new things shouldn’t be present during CE.
      Returning to the topic of Dead Space. I personally think having human enemies in 3 wasn’t necessarily a bad idea and that it was just badly executed. From a narrative perspective it actually makes sense that Issac would eventually come into direct conflict with the Unitoligists since they’ve been causing all kinds of problems behind the scenes, and it was only inevitable that something like this would happen. MandaloreGaming was saying that prior to 3 there was always a reverence around guns where they were used sparingly and were properly treated as these destructive weapons that could punch through your armor like it’s nothing. The game also had the same problem where the features they crammed in from other games that were simultaneously at odds with Dead Space’s core design philosophy, and they didn’t go nearly far enough with it causing those features to feel half baked and pleased no one. Other third person shooter would have you automatically enter cover at a button press and the aiming was smoother. The guy was also saying that there was a rock paper scissors type deal where Issac could take out Necromorphs, Necromorphs can take out soldiers, and soldiers can take out Issac (he mentioned a part in 2 where you had to shut off the power to let in Necromorphs so Issac would get past the guard, because he’d otherwise be cut down). Building on all of this I think they should’ve made guns LETHAL to you and the cultists, and had those sections play more like a tactical cover shooter where you’d have to really think about how you’ll take out the enemy (running in and out of cover, flanking the enemy, having your co-op/ai partner distract the enemy/focus on certain ones, and other stuff like that). You’d have some sections where stealth is an option. You’d have to outthink the enemy. And there could be sections where you let in/alert the Necromorphs and just deal with the survivors of that skirmish. The enemy should also be smart and able to navigate the arena in an attempt to take you out as well. This all sounds really cool in my head, but I’m not entirely sure if it would work out. What do you think?

    That was an interesting part of Ghosts of Onyx. I really liked how in the book the Covenant were briefly united when it came to insuring none of the Flood made it off the Ring. Then after that threat was dealth with they resumed their civil war (Truth plunging the Covenant into a civil war made sense in Halo 2’s original ending. Go watch C3Sabertooth’s videos where he animated the storyboards some of the things would’ve greatly enhanced the story and fixed a few plot holes, while some others would’ve been bad ideas). That was a good book. Something else that was interesting was how the Sentinels spoke Latin, and the Covenant already understood it because that was a language of the Forerunners. That would explain why the Covenabt were so easily able to understand us, and why we’d run into issues whenever we’d try to translate Covenant glyphs/speech because it had a different base.
