I am German myself and always thought how confusing it must be for those who want to learn German to know which article to use. The clues you have given in this video are very useful. Mind you, the many suffixes are still pretty confusing, but there is at least some logic to it. Thank you und viel Erfolg to all learners of German. 🍀🙂

I second that sentiment! I too am German but work a lot with Americans, and whenever someone asked me about articles, I just told them there is no logic and they just have to learn them. But the explanations / tipps in this video are extremely helpful! I've never realized these rules before.

Especially as a native English speaker, since for the most part we have no gendered nouns (we have a few occupational ones like waiter and waitress). Also I appreciate you not editing out any stumbles or mistakes (like when you said cinnamon before correcting yourself to say synonym). It makes me feel better knowing even at a very high level in a foreign language, people still make mistakes.

Thank you for your work, you have created many useful video lessons. I'm taking a German intensive course and it challenges everything that I've learned from English lol. Especially grammar points, we don't have much time in the classes so I have to search on my own for videos like yours to help me understand wth is going on with the verbs, the pronouns and so on.

So, my wife and I have lived in Germany for nearly thirty-one years and yet we've both learnt so much in the last 45 minutes from three of your videos. We've subscribed and liked, obviously. Now that I'm teaching some German to a Ukrainian its important that I don't make the beginner's mistakes with her too. Many thanks for the excellent Videos!

Hallo again Luzi, I liked so much the way you grouped all the rules. There is another rule about alcoholic drinks. All of them are masculine in German: der Vodka, der Champagner, der Whisky, der Schnaps but there is an exception: das Bier. It would be so cool to have this rule too so that there will be 19 rules for masculine :) Danke fur alles :)

Of all of the videos and other lessons I have watched, your explanation of gender types for nouns is the most interesting and easy to understand way of identifying which gender to use. I especially like the summary in that 46% of German nouns are Feminine, and when in doubt, to use "die". Very nicely done and, as always, thank you for your instructions here! I definitely have a more clear use of gender for nouns now than before!
