I was there with a couple of Army buddies. We decided not to go to the USO Club on the Presidio that evening, and ended up in the audience (very small club). I think it was on Fillmore. Then sometime in '71, while playing my 12 string on the sidewalk near The Trident in Sausalito, Crosby walked by and stopped. "Know any of my songs?" he asked. We did "Wooden Ships" and "Long Time Gone." A crowd started to gather, so we shook hands and he left.
This three night engagement was billed as "David and The Dorks". There's an album with that title. The title of the band/artists in this video is post- Garcia marketing.
