2×25 kW alternators for AC coach and 1×4.5 kW for non-AC coach is mounted underslung, driven by a pulley-belt arrangement when driving pulley is mounted on coach axle. Output is rectified and charges 110V DC battery for continuous power supply to AC and non-AC coaches. AC load of roof mounted packaged units is supplied by converting DC into 2×25 kVA inverters. This system is followed over trains having a combination of AC and non-AC coaches.
The image shows cardon shaft arrangement it is not in use only trail basis.

Let me share an experience regarding WAP-5 of Swetzerland i sat in my friends chamber at CLW chittaranjan.( He was Dy CME ,ELS ( electric loco shop) a phone came and he jumed out from his chair told me ," chal aj tereko ek cheej dekhawoo" both we immidiate reach ELS. and found the engine came from ghaziabad shed is so hot that we feel it from out side. This was initial problems of imported loco of 1st batch.But after CLW started WAP 5 never face this problem.so far I know.

Nice information, WAP 5 me (Hotel load convater) install jalde hone bala hai, 1 loco me huya hai. A WAP-5 locomotive with head-on generation(HOG) is currently under development at CLW.

2. How does EMU/MEMU gets power to coaches? Is it self generating or HOG type?

Maine IR ke internal presentation mein dekha hai ki HOG technology use karne se, kam se kam ek generator car ko revenue coach se replace kiya ja sakta hai jisse profitability improve hogi.
