Some people have crazy imagination. I really like to think sometimes i'm slightly good at songwriting, then i go to these youtube videos then wanna kill myself, haha.
Tekku no no! think of how long rusty's been writing! we're all gonna get better at writing and we're all great in different ways. just because others are good doesn't mean you are not!
I cant believe this song is 6 years old. I used to listen to this on rough nights when I was 16 and while I was crying in bed. Its still a masterpiece to me at 22. Thank you for sharing with us.
I'm trying to write something coherent but I'm just speechless. Rusty Clanton songs are the best songs. It's like being immersed in a pool of emotions but with the viscosity of honey and then being pushed through it. You can't really breathe but also you're feeling every second of the song. Holy heck it's late and this isn't making much sense but this song is killing me.
Your original songs always feel like coming home after a shitty day, putting on cosy pj's and hiding wth blankets and books, knowing tomorrow will come and eventually it will all be okay
I remember first hearing this song as a freshman in high school. I was at the lowest point in my life I think id ever been in. Now sitting in my dorm room all alone during thanksgiving break, this song popped back up on my recommended. Crazy what emotions we have tied to music because within the first line of song tears started to fill in my eyes.
This song continues to explain my life more and more it constantly feels like everything has been a false start for a couple of weeks now. Don’t know how this cycle will end
"Call it chaos, call it right, it only hurts until it rhymes." I love this line. You go through moments in your life and whether they are good or bad, once you can write about them you don't hurt anymore. You only hurt until you are able to write about it. Absolutely genius Rusty. Genius.
as much as i love Novels, this may be my new Novels. i never want to stop listening to this. (also high-key wondering what the little "FIND ME" in the lyrics is about)
so, i have a little thing called chromesthesia, where i see sound in the form of colors. i wanted you to know that yours are some of the most beautiful i've ever experienced. it's mostly warm colors, though some of them have darker undertones. this is mostly a fiery orange, with a bit of brilliant blue. comfort is purple and soft pink. novels is purple and gold. thank you for writing such beautiful music, rusty. just...thank you.
I cried my heart out for all the disappointments I'm having constantly for more than a year now. I just went crying till I couldn't hear your delicate voice and guitar playing. my depression isn't necessarily going to go away any time soon, but God knows how much I found hope and peace listening to this song. Please keep doing great music you're absolutely talented for grabbing our hearts softly like this.
this song is honestly just so soothing and relaxing for me, it reminds me of the feeling when you're having a shit day and someone is just here to wrap you up in a blanket and pat your head while you just sit together and nothing needs to be said cause you know they're there for you.. but that's just me
This is one of those songs where you can be happy and in a good relationship and loving life, but one minute in you're tearing up about a heartbreak you aren't even going through. That's the mark of a fantastic musician.
I think it says something very important about what you're capable of that I didn't find myself listening to this so much as I found myself feeling it, wholly and deeply. I feel heartbroken by your voice alone. You are making so much absolutely breathtaking art right now, Rusty, but that being said I really hope you can find peace.
Rusty's music always seems to become a tangible thing that escapes from my computer screen or my headphones and just sits there with me, feeling what I feel.
Took me a second listen to realize the first strumming pattern in the beginning, continues through out the whole song, while Rusty continues to play over it. And that to me is such a religious experience because chord progressions keeps happening while the main channel is the original strumming. He's physically is able to show what he's thinking and feeling in the past at the same time as playing presently / writing musically in the present. * Also the song is resolution. Because it fades out - Rusty doesn't feel like there is conflict because he understands his feelings he felt in L.a. we're good. And though the lyrics doesn't sound like it, that personal revelation changes the lyrics at the end cause he sees the memory as bitter sweet. I'm shook and excited for the EP 💛
Whatever heartbreak you are going through right now, I'm so sorry. Does it help to know your broken heart is creating some of your best music right now?
Schima i don't think they're together anymore they've unfollowed each other on social media and tessa has been talking about being on tinder and other dating apps on twitter so
I am LIVING for this. Rusty, you have been one of my favourite musicians for a while now. Thank you so much for all the beauty you have brought into the world through your music - it has helped me through so much.
I've been alternating between having this and "Comfort" on repeat. I noticed the views for this have gone up 2,000 in the last two days, and I'm pretty sure 90%of the views were mine... In love with this gorgeous piece of art. pls release on spotify/apple music. Need. More. Rusty. On . Demand.
I can't stop listening. Every moment I have to listen to music I end up coming back to your music. Something about it makes me calm and less stressed. Perfection
There are just some artists out there that make you feel something you don't normally feel...like a mixture of emotions and all you can do sit silently. listening. You are one of those.
I'm in love with you and everything about you. You create some of the most beautiful pieces of art. The way that you use lyrics to tell the story of a heartbreak but creatively use chords to add to the emotion. The lyrics give me hardcore feels but the chords add even more emotion to the song
Thank you for always being so incredibly raw with your music. For a girl who often struggles to find the right words I find a lot of solace in the words you sing. So thank you, I really hope I can see you perform live someday.
what a pure, precious little soul you are. your music is so beautiful and inspiring. i hope to be like you one day.. you're the gift that keeps on giving and i will be forever thankful to the world for stumbling upon your music.
I can't realize how incredibly beautiful this song is. My heart is aching and breaking and I am overwhelmed... your music is what helps me getting along. Thank you for sharing this with us! I am incredibly touched ❤️
I think what I like most about his writing is the use of slant rhymes. If you only use exact rhymes, it's gonna be pretty hard to end a line with Callouses. By using slant rhymes, he has more words to create imagery with. When people feel they HAVE to use perfect rhymes, their lines end with the same word pairings as everyone elses. I mean, You will, of couse, use a combo others have, but not always throughout the whole song.
oh fuck this is so so so so beautiful
thnx for bringing out the cry
doddleoddle ❤❤❤❤❤
Even more beautifuler ahhh I'm sobbing and desperately in need of a hug
Hi dodie I love you
💛💛💛
"it only hurts until it rhymes". dude. DUDE. why didn't i think of that. you're crazy good.
Some people have crazy imagination. I really like to think sometimes i'm slightly good at songwriting, then i go to these youtube videos then wanna kill myself, haha.
Tekku no no! think of how long rusty's been writing! we're all gonna get better at writing and we're all great in different ways. just because others are good doesn't mean you are not!
i don't get it.... maybe im just dumb but the meaning doesn't hit me
Annie H I believe he's saying that it only hurts until he writes music about it. That writing kind of heals the wounds.
ohhhh i see damn that's powerful

Don't know if I can find you, but I found myself about a minute in.
oh this reminds me so much of Daughter and i love it.

sometimes i find songs and i'm like, "damn, how did i survive without it?" you always have that effect.
Find me
I still listen to all your songs Rusty - they’re timeless
just that intro, I can already imagining myself outside in fall sitting under the trees. or just laying in bed thinking of good times.
My heart is so heavy tonight, thank you for giving me this song to feel less alone ♥️💔
Ouch wow this song is playing into my broken heart so well right now. I'm so grateful to have someone who writes such perfect songs.

It's like you're playing my heart strings.
"&what I thought when I saw you, I knew it when I left", affected me in more ways than I can express. Great job Rusty! Forever impressed&awed

You neeeeeeed more of your songs on Spotify, Rusty!
i've never been able to listen to a rusty clanton song without crying
.... I am not crying...YOU ARE!

I have chromesthesia too, and it's those reasons as to why I have listened to Rusty for so long. His voice and his music are just so beautiful

it's 3:41 am and this made my night a little bit less lonely ♡
You're beautiful. You don't listen to music, and you don't play it either. You feel it.
This is one of those songs where you can be happy and in a good relationship and loving life, but one minute in you're tearing up about a heartbreak you aren't even going through. That's the mark of a fantastic musician.
so so lovely. the ending literally took me back to sitting on my Nannie's porch in Tennessee every sunday morning as a child..
sarah that's where it takes me too!

Rusty's music always seems to become a tangible thing that escapes from my computer screen or my headphones and just sits there with me, feeling what I feel.
rustys voice reminds me of a period of my life i will always treasure
Read the lyrics in the description. The odd capitalisation reads 'FIND ME'
I found you, and I am glad. Thank you Rusty.

rusty and an electric guitar. this is what the 16 years of my life has been building up to.
Whatever heartbreak you are going through right now, I'm so sorry. Does it help to know your broken heart is creating some of your best music right now?
Is he still with tessa? :( and i agree wholeheartedly! This hits me right in my feels
Schima i don't think they're together anymore they've unfollowed each other on social media and tessa has been talking about being on tinder and other dating apps on twitter so
Oh that's sad :(
well, its time for me to die
thechristinanerd ❤️❤️❤️
It's so rare to hear the electric guitar used to make such sweet, beautiful, calming music. I love it.
Man these lyrics hit hard. Reminds me of my beloved dog who passed away August 28th, 2022.
My heart jumps every time I get the post notification that you uploaded a video! 💕
Almost every song you write makes me want to cry, but in a good way. This is one of those songs. 🖤☺️
my heart goes out to this and I cry at pretty much all songs rusty creates
This is one of my favourite songs. It makes me want to fold myself in a warm blanket but also cry my eyes out. Perfection.

This song makes you feel like you're floating above water, and then lying on soft grass. Well at least to me it does ❤️
3 weeks of coming back to this song over and over. too good.
I can't stop listening. Every moment I have to listen to music I end up coming back to your music. Something about it makes me calm and less stressed. Perfection

God, Rusty Clanton, you've done it again, created impossibly beautiful magic.
This is like out of this worldd
this song gives me an odd nostalgic feeling of when i was 15, especially when the ooo's and other harmonies come in. i honestly got chills.
