    This is the first time I saw this channel and I really love how you explain who would want the things you are reviewing based on the workflow. The sounds of a synth can be seen on many other channels, there is no shortage of that but the principle of how music is made on the gadgets is harder to find in videos.

    Couldn't agree more with your thoughts! It was definitely my favorite synth of 2020 and my best companion through the pandemic. I wrote 2 full EPs on it, some of the tracks were just the Digitone. It's incredibly deep and fun!

      That’s great to hear! I’m very excited to try some standalone compositions (& run it through some pedals)

    That comment about not being for beginners was so true. But this individual is committed to learning it or bust. Was a bit intimidated for a while but after I got over the hump and actually created something I knew that I could do this. Will be adding DT to the mix in next few months after I get Krome EX paid for. Just might consider some of those one on one sessions you are talking about. Am thankful to have found your channel.

      That’s great, thanks again for watching! The DT will be much much easier to piece together since you’ve had some time with the DN keys.

      Yeah I can imagine! I’d love to compose a split live EP, one on the takt, one on the tone

    After looking at sooo many synths I think I'll go for the digitone which just feels right and I'm sure my digitakt wants a brother

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perfect!! I think it’s just a great companion to the Digitakt. You’ll surely have a huge advantage with the admittedly steep learning curve if you’re already familiar with the sequencer

      @@SlowHaste yes one of the main reasons is the elektron workflow that I'm used to and feels so "organic"

    After a few years of being a elektron enthusiast I finally got the DN to pair with my DT and I'm so excited

    A couple retailers are offering Digitakt/Digitone at around 20% off this weekend, from what I’ve seen.

      Not a bad deal at all!

    I agree, it’s not for beginners. I’ve had the Model:Cycles for a year and that’s my first synth, and then I borrowed the Digitone from a friend and I couldn’t make the jump right away, I was quite lost haha. So yeah, not for beginners, but it sounds so goooooood. 🙋 I can’t imagine all the possibilities paired with the Digitakt.

    • @SlowHaste

      Well said!! The Cycles seems super dope, too! I’ve heard a lot of great stuff with it here and on the ‘gram

    It’s phase modulation, just like most other digital FM synths (Took me a while to get that click). It’s a more stable method, and allows for the use of feedback in a controlled manner. (Recreated it in the Poly Grid in Bitwig it sounds same just with lot more modulation possibilities). Great little monster

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh nice, I hadn’t heard that! That’s cool to know for sure.

      Digitone or Poly Grid has more modulation possibilities?

    • @nu7m39.in.l0v3
      @nu7m39.in.l0v3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@harveytherobot Bitwig studio and Poly Grid as part of it have almost infinite modulators. Only the power of your computer is a limit. Digitone have 2 lfos which you can assign to almost any parameter and very versatile sequencer which allows you to change any parameter value per step. This is also doable in Bitwig 4 also as they introduced same type of sequencer goodies as Elektron devices. You can make very versatile patterns only in 16 step seqence. The seqencers are much the same as from new version of Bitwig 4.

      @@nu7m39.in.l0v3 theres also the Phase-4 Device in Bitwig if your stupid/lazy like me lol I didn't know that about the new sequencers I gotta upgrade! The magic with elektron boxes is letting the pattern play and randomly turning the knobs to get those random and choppy locks. Its almost like a custom sample and hold sound with you being the random element. Suppose you could do this in a daw as well but is it as much fun? haha

    thats what i like with digitone and digitakt you can be very creative with them. im in to ambient music and i got my self a digitakt. im saving up for digitone so i can creat my ambient sounds :) but just digitakt you can creat some cool sounds with the samples ect.

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it’s really pretty wild what you can coax out of some simple samples! But the Digitone is a perfect ambient machine, I’ve been discovering in the last couple of weeks

      Digitakt is amazing for ambient aswell, particularly generative ambient. Lots of examples on youtube

    Great video! question about connections... i see no output plugged in on the digitone...does the sound go over midi? I am new to all this and purchased a digitone and want the digitakt also in the same way as your setup. Thanks for a reply

    I just got a used one off of reverb for a good price. I know the Elektron camp loves these synths, but I am just not wrapping my head around it though. I have mostly Roland gear. The workflow is so different. I'm an old fart. It's going to take me a while to get used to this workflow.

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It definitely can be challenging to pick up! Both the sound design and sequencer are as deep as you want them to be, I found it helped to start really simple and when you find something you can’t do, try to look that up in the manual

    • @jaxager
      @jaxager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SlowHaste I can see why everyone loves the sequencer. It is pretty sweet. I'm currently watching Cuckoo's "mega tutorial" and following along with mine as I watch him do his thing.
