THANK YOU THIS WAS THE ONLY GENUINE FIX I COULD FIND ON HERE WITHOUT ANY EXTRA STEPS TO MAKE PEOPLE WASTE THEIR TIME!!
For me, the problem was that the game was trying to download on my external hard drive and my Xbox. What I did was got rid of everything trying to download and unplugged my external hard drive. I then proceeded to download the game again and for some reason it worked. Hope that helps some of you.

I found out what was going wrong after trying all of this in this video. This might also be the issue for some. after trying all of this I contacted xbox support and they still couldnt help. I was on the verge of just getting rid of the console. my brother and his mate came round and looked at it, still no joy. The last thing he tried worked. I have had my console for a while now and a portable hard drive connected to it (over a year). I had been saving my games to the portable drive because it had more space. We found out it was a simple issue. For some reason my games and apps was trying to save to the portable drive and the console at the same time. Why it started to do that i don't know, but now i have everything working. Maybe a updated video will be excellent to tell people to also check this as well. Thank you for the excellent video explaining what to try, and for your help. :)

Did the hard shut down and unplugged. Restarted xbox one and game is finally updating! Thank you. A straight reboot didn't help.
None of these solutions worked, despite the machine stating it's connected to the internet at 500 Mbps abd 0% packet loss. Resetting it changed nothing, other than the hassle of trying to sign in, which it can't do because it can't connect to Microsoft. Playstation never has issues like this; switching over to Sony for life.

THANKYOU SO MUCH!!! I made the dumb mistake of trying the 2nd option before the 1st as i thought it would be affective. After it all turned on it still wouldn't update anything i assumed the worst and 2 days later almost brought a new one. Just before i did that though i decided to try the 1st method. And it worked thankyou so much man. +1 sub here!

@Riku I got it to fix by deleting it but it won’t delete your word. I would just get Minecraft beta and then take off Minecraft beta that is how I did it just listen to everything in the video it will work

If you have tried both of my reset methods 1. keeping profile and 2. using usb drive to factory reset and you are still having a problem then there may be a problem with your hard drive or console.

I wasn’t having the issue with the xbox store not wanting to update. Instead, having an issue where an update for a game exists, but my Series X acts like it doesn’t exist. Tried this, but still nothing. Stuck not being able to play with friends because of mistmatched versions issue. No Man’s Sky, in case anyone was curious.
Forza nearly finishes updating and then gets stopped so I’m sort of on the same page there
Didn't work unfortunately. Still got four apps in the download queue not doing anything. Tried these two approaches, clearing the MAC cache, nothing helps. I really don't want to have format my whole Xbox.
I mean, even if this here had worked, having to set up your console and account all over again is a whole lot of bullshit just to get some apps to update. This issue has been around for a looooong-ass time now and is probably the most annoying problem I ever had to deal with on any console. When will Microsoft finally fix this???

Luckily all I needed to do was to hold down the power button to restart and to then clear my mac address to fix this problem. I came here to try and fix a friends xbox who that didn't work for. The factory reset while saving games and apps method worked hor him. Thanks.

No your save games are saved online so u can retrieve them.
Ok so I was downloading cod ww2 and for some reason when it finishes downloading it tells me that I need to update the game, however when I manage games and add ons it said that everything is downloaded. So I deleted it and re downloaded it again and made sure that I update the game but when it finished it still won’t download the update. The game itself is 45 gigs and the update is 30 gigs but after the download i see that it’s 45 and not 75 like it should be.

So if I have apex legends updating and it’s stuck at 70 I do the reset and keep apps and games and all it does it restarts the update or do I have to re download the game

@@jessajester8054 it doesn’t make you re download the game but it doesn’t restart the update either it’s stays the same spot it was so try it it might actually work for you

On the newer console All I did was hold the home button and made it highlight the turn off console and it took like 2 seconds 👍🏼

i have an original Xbox One from 2013 and i thought i clicked on the remove all games and apps function but i didnt and now my Xbox is running as good as new
mine still wont work , i have just about enough space for a 1.75GB update , it just isnt updating the game at all . i have waited about 20 minutes and it is still at 0.0% . all it says is “installing” and then “Network: 16.00KB of 1.75GB” :(

I think if you don’t remove apps and games your progress will be saved and if you do a factory reset it should probably be fine for multiplayer games since it gets uploaded to the Xbox cloud

You can also restart yourr console by holding the power button on the controller and press on restart console
