I love a good *jklux* because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!

Thank you for addressing the changes. I find myself here on YT less and less. As soon as an influencer starts the sells pitch, I am gone. Yes, they are out to earn a living, but I am not their customer. Luxury unboxings are not my thing. I click on the new makeup and a few fashion hauls. I do enjoy your straightforward talking points about everything.

I feel like the economic situation in our households + influx in “influencers”/youtubers + ordinary people not being able to get said luxury items = decline in interest overall. It was one thing when I had money and couldn’t get a simple wallet or bag because of its popularity… now that money is tight, turns out, I didn’t want that after all 😂

I agree about Lydia. I rarely watch her videos anymore. I feel like so much of her content is garden-related and clothing tends to be brands she’s working with. Shea Whitney is another one that changed. I don’t care for the “10 things that make you look bad” or “Amazon items you need” videos. Apparently, they must do well though.

Love your channel and authenticity Melinda! I’m in the beginning phase to my own “luxury journey”. I’m finally in an age/financial place where I can afford things like this and I definitely didn’t grow up with luxury items. I’m realizing I’m entering this space at a weird time, a lot of people are leaving, the price increases are discouraging, etc. Videos about intentionality or mistakes/learnings have been calling to me. At the current prices, I don’t want to regret a purchase, so hearing from seasoned collectors about their learnings is super helpful. Some collectors also have bags they think are/are not worth the current price, those videos are interesting too. Share the wisdom! 😊❤

Man, I can relate to you on this! Yes! There are a handful of high end designer bags I wouldn’t mind owning, but I’ve been building my collection for a long time now and have most of the bags I originally wanted, which is a real gift. I don’t have the drive to purchase them much anymore. Like you, I’ve turned to Coach and other contemporary brands because I do like the occasional purchase, and they’re more affordable - let’s face it! I buy Coach new from the boutique or outlet, and I’ve also started picking up vintage since the quality is so high. I’ve always believed that the majority of viewers aren’t luxury consumers - and I think this move away from Luxury is those that don’t find it inspiring anymore, it’s just not making people feel great about their current circumstances. Sadly it’s aligned to the financial cycle, when people see growth and hope their spending follows suit, when people experience a tightening and scarcity they respond accordingly.

    Let’s go 50K!
I’m not tire of or exiting or taking a break with my luxury………….I am really enjoying all that I am lucky to possess and enjoy with my bags. My hang bags are my mementos of my celebration on my bench mark life successes I set for myself. Bags are just things and these things that’s to give me joy……………. I really hope Jerusha comes back after much needed rest/break.
I love your channel because I see the joy from all the luxury bags/items you possess and share your personal joy with the ‘’tag-along’’ stories that goes with each of the bags……..and this honestly is very refreshing. As for other TH-cams, I feel like it’s more of ‘’ keeping up with Joneses’’ and trying to sell a lifestyle rather than allowing their true joyful self expressed and that I can celebrate with them. Again, no judgement. This is not goal………..I just feel that other luxury TH-cams are leaving is a good thing. Because ‘’maybe’’ these luxury bags/things they possessed NEVER gave them the inner joy but rather it was a job to peddle ‘’projected others’ dreams……………..like selling a dream is not easy because dreams are not reality. And these past 3 years of not good economy certainly challenged these TH-cams of this reality & they become burdened by all luxury things since it is far from a true reflection and representation of their TRUE JOY/DREAM ACHIEVED! Now economy is/will be a perfect storm to filtering out these TH-camrs.
I hope you continue to share how to enjoy your handbags/jewelry………..like the last story about how you took your Hermes Kelly out to lunch with your daughter--I think……these stories gives confidence to enjoy Hermes bags to a local restaurant and not always save it for Michelin star restaurants……..hahaha. All that we have should be representative of our joy not how much we hoard things in life that we will leave it behind when we die/pass on from this place.
Love your honesty. It is interesting ‘’new information’’ to note that so many TH-camrs are leaving---didn’t know and didn’t care since I don’t watch too many. As for future content, just show how you love life through the things you have……..seeing happy people is the best TH-cam videos/content: spread happiness!

    • @LuxPurselove
      @LuxPurselove  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I do wonder if those who sold everything maybe they never got true joy from these things or really loved and were into them like we are. And that's ok to learn and grow. I have never been to a Michelin restaurant so my bags have to go where I do! Thank you so much for your kind words!

I only have 2.5k after 6 years so I probably will never find out what that is like. 😂 But honestly I am in it for the interaction and not for the money or sponsorships. I didn’t even know what monetizing was until after I made my channel. I stopped watching a lot of the bigger channels as they are just harder to relate to. One of my biggest pet peeves is when they say they are happy to answer any questions and then when I do ask dead silence. I understand when it’s an older video but when it happens on a video that was recently released I feel slighted, like they just lured me to comment to get the algorithm working in their favor. I’m in my luxury fatigue mode I guess so I don’t really know what I’m looking for in term of videos really. But I know what I’m not looking for and it’s all the adds that many TH-camrs sneak in their videos. At this point, it’s ridiculous how it became so hard to just watch a video without it being an info commercial on something we don’t want! I’m watching luxury channels that want to sell me a 30$ bag, like what??? Why on Earth I would want it? 😂 Same with their cheap shoes! I’ll go to WalMart, thank you! It’s easy to tell they don’t even like these items, you watch their Instagram and they are never in their pictures or reels. You absolutely never see it outside of their promotional videos. Anyway, each time they do it, they lose my views, I’m gone. Your last unboxing bring me back to the good old days where it was about sharing a passion and not just trying to monetize everything!

I totally agree with your video! Since the economy is bad and I retired last year, I have decided to limit watching handbag videos. Although I have a few luxury channels that I still watch, yours is one of the few. Watching a video about a bag I’ve always wanted just reminds me that I can’t go out and buy it like I used to. However, I’m still intrigued about the pros and cons and justify watching as an occasional guilty pleasure. It’s not that I can’t afford it, I just choose to spend my money on other things like travel and my grands!
It has been over 2 years since I purchased a new bag from the store and about 9 months since I purchased preloved. I’m making a point to rotate my bags and enjoy each one. Thank you for coming back to TH-cam and keeping it real on your channel. I also rekindled my love of gardening and have found a few channels I’m enjoying that are also in Tennessee. I used to split my viewing time between makeup and skincare videos and luxury and it seemed I was always buying the newest thing to come out. Now it’s a few luxury channels, about 2-3 makeup channels, and a few dermatologist channels. My wallet is happier and I’m enjoying just watching rather than looking for the next “thing” I have to have. 😎

Jerusha’s channel was one of the first channels on TH-cam that I started watching. I love her energy & I hope she returns. Like you, I try to watch smaller channels because once they reach a certain number most of them begin to change, and focus way too much on advertising products. I still like to watch videos about luxury handbags. I like hearing about their wear & tear, practicality of the bag, etc. but I also enjoy watching more videos about issues around menopause, skin care, some travel blogs with recommendations of places to visit, restaurants, etc., Honestly, I think that for me is more about the positive energy & sincere & down to earth personality of the person making the video than the actual content that drives me to watch their videos. Initially I am attracted by the content, but once I like them enough to subscribe to their channel I try to be supportive of their work by watching most of what they post. I am picky on whose channel I do subscribe to. I try to pick those that I find relatable to my own lifestyle, and personality.

It’s something about watching a video where it doesn’t seem like their trying to sell you something or shoveling there luxury lifestyle down your throat. It has to be a balance and not a lot of influencers are understanding that it should be enjoyable and engaging to watch also a real connection between viewer and the content creator. I’ve got enough stuff for several lifetimes. Even expensive stuff is just more stuff. None of it feels special anymore. It kind of bothers me that I have these bags and they barely look used because most go unused. I envy people who buy one nice bag and use it until it falls apart (they don’t have the constant wanting I have). I also feel embarrassed to carry an expensive bag around now, it feels too ‘Try hard’. Then there is the opportunity cost which makes me feel sick when I think of it.

This is an interesting take. From an economical stand point, it is harder for general population to achieve higher income- so ppl do one of these things: using small amount of money to get maximum happiness (小確幸 or small happiness). Therefore, ppl spend on small affordable items that include small meals, coffee, clothings. This phenomenon was actually discussed a lot with certain Asian country post pandemic. Economy is global after all. I suspect that’s why Temu/SHEIN/ Amazon fashion/ homeware are on the rise. Everyone is posting abt these super find/ deals.

Some of us are here for the engagement alone.❤ I don’t shop on TH-cam. I appreciate most, the true creatives. I’m going to share some today. 😊❤ I myself like to try to make something out of nothing. Handbags are a weakness and so I do watch when considering something new. it’s the editing and creative part that is my favorite. Now if I just had a better front woman 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 ( edited so much, sorry I’m outside typing on my phone and it’s ☀️ sunny

Hi Melinda. I don’t respond often but have been very happy that you came back. You are one of two people that I click on immediately when I see a video posted. First, and foremost, you are genuine. Although you have gone through a difficult time in your life with your mom, you are always such a positive happy person.
I have always enjoyed your channel, but I like the cooking videos and vlogs that you have added as well. You have such interesting and well rounded content. There is never a one that I don’t finish. I especially liked your jewelry videos because my first love is there and then handbags.

Yes, I think it has a lot to do with life post covid, the economy and just saturation of the luxury market. I have several LV’s and have shelved them for now but will use them in the winter and never sell them. Many purchases are based on a creator/channels review, causing many to just buy and buy. Love your channel Melinda❤

I started watching TH-cam for luxury bag purchases. A number of the TH-camrs I first subscribed to have changed content, ie, they bought a house, had a baby, went to lower brand bags and assumed everyone of their subscribers were just like then. Nope. I subscribed to them because they were doing videos on something I was interested in. If that no longer interests them, that is fine. Pursue your new passion and hopefully, you will find subscribers who have that same passion.
I love your down to earth, practical approach to luxury bags. You tell us why you purchased a certain bag, how you determined if it will work with your wardrobe and lifestyle, and if it needed to be returned or was a winner. But sorry Melinda, I am not interested in cooking videos. What I would love to know is which restaurants you eat at when you travel and how your meal or snack was, hotel reviews and "store" reviews (some luxury brands have certain stores which have greater stock, or more personable SAs).

One of my first and favorite youtubers has really changed. She was so honest and down to earth. Her channel has grown exponentially but it's obvious she is getting kickbacks from the products she talks about. In every video there is something she is obsessed with and it's her current favorite blah blah blah. Anyway I like small channels that offer their persective on a myriad of topics in the luxury sphere.

I noticed alot of luxury TH-camrs who own a fair amount of Hermes Berkings and Kellys have been promoting coach bags. Do you think coach has been paying them or sending them free bags, or is this because of the economy? I would value your honest opinion. thx.

      @LuxPurselove  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@izabella1944 I don't think Coach is gifting these bags. They are very popular right now and either the influencer loves them or is buying them for views. I think it is because they love them personally though.

I’ve been doing TH-cam since 2013 and I agree it has changed. I have unsubscribed from people who does luxury hauls or constant unboxings and luxury TH-camrs whose majority content is sponsored videos - they don’t seem genuine.

That is a long time Maggie! It has changed a lot for sure. I am ok with sponsored videos and I do them but they are far and few between. I don't like every video being one big ad.

Hi Melinda, I watched Jerusha for years, you are both genuine, hope she comes back too. I guess a lot of the decline in watching videos is that afterwards you you can’t go out and purchase the item’s because you have to be a vip or on a journey with Hermes so it’s not easy anymore. Also creators that are making you tube a job, full of sponsorship is annoying and I’ve stopped watching those as well. I’m sorry your cooking video didn’t take off, I really enjoyed that. I love your unboxing and review of bags and accessories. I also like packing videos for travelling. After your holiday a review on the places you went restaurants etc. shopping videos I love your jewellery videos, there are very informative and I’m just dipping into Cartier and van cleef, though van cleef is also becoming hard to purchase. I like gardening videos, garden answer is great they do so much for their community and are down to earth even though they have nearly 2 million followers. I also like Robbie’s channel visit our garden. A lot has changed since the outbreak in 2020, and this economic climate. Enjoy your week lovely. 🌸🌿

I watch you, Amber, Just Jennifer, & Jerusha for lux. I watch boaters Tula’s, Aboard Mermaid Monster Sailing Good Bad n Ugly, Cruiser’s, La Lido Loca, Griff & Alyssa,. For fashion Ms Goldgirl and Lisa Lisa D, Lux Mommy. Travelers, Hopscotching the Globe, The Bucket List Family. Car/van life, Faith videos.
    I like lots of things!
As for bags I like to see what fits inside, the mod shots to see how it looks on, and the cost. I don’t need to see the process of unboxing but loved your last reaction. I like when you travel and vlog shopping whether there is a purchase or not. I love jewelry and watches as well.
I was super glad when you came back and hope J rests well and comes back too.
I think the other thing for me is getting a glimpse of family life. The realer someone is the more invested I become.
When I YT met Jills…she reminded me of my mom that had passed so I loved seeing her on Jerusha’s videos.
Praying for you guys as families have passed, it is real and it’s not easy and it is a big deal when people are sharing their struggles.
I know YT is hard work. I started a channel for my real estate biz I stunk!😂 So I give credit to anyone who does it.

I’m not a fan of influencers as I can’t trust is what they’re sharing is really what they think or if they’re being paid to think a certain way. You’re the only luxury TH-cam channel I watch. Part of that is I trust your content, and also you’re someone I could see as being a friend if I knew you - you’re a similar age and have similar interests.

I really hope Jerusha does come back but I do think she needs that time. I can’t imagine what you guys go through as TH-camrs and filming and all that comes with it. I have only a few TH-camrs I watch consistently. I have been watching you all for years and yes TH-cam has changed a lot. Now some of my favorites I don’t watch as often because I really don’t want to see a sponsored video every single time. And that’s what we get. Some that I started watching for luxury now no longer really even talk luxury but instead it’s other videos. I still love unboxings of course, I like WIMB, vlogs, skincare has become a large part of what I watch. ❤❤

As far as luxury, the economy definitely comes into play. I have other priorities and goals and want to pay off debt. I watch less content so as not to be tempted to buy. I also don’t go out as much, so I dont need as many bags and shoes. I have been more interested in mid range brands lately, including French mid range. I am also being intentional about appreciating what I already have.
