Congratulations kurt on your first walleye I was hoping to get down there to catch some myself maybe one day I'll see you down there ,I know the bigger ones will start running down there within the next few weeks ,I'm hoping to get down there a catch them soon, Good luck and tight lines buddy
Hey Kurt. Nice job Catching some walleye. I went walleye fishing 30 years ago! notice i said fishing not catching!! spent the whole day there never landed anything but cold river water. good Job!!
Great job Kurt! Walleye are very good eating. A tip for you in the future. If your getting hung up and snagged in the rocks too often, step down one size in your jig weight. It will take a little longer to fall, but it will hang up a lot less. Late fall to early winter is the time for big eyes! They tend to be shallow and they have the feedbag on. Most of my biggest walleyes have come in that time period. Congrats again, and thanks for sharing! God bless and be safe!
Best eating freshwater fish on the continent. Caught these from Michigan to Texas and from Arizona to a frozen over reservoir in Montana in February. Our favorite fish to deep fat fry, smoke or saute in butter. Can not go wrong. Filet them before rigor mortis sets in, leave the skin on (skin comes off easily later on before you cook) and throw the filets in a ziplock on ice. It's like eating Alaskan cod. Biggest I ever saw came out of Fort Peck Reservoir on the Missouri river in Montana. 15.4 lbs and 31 inches long. I think the world record is right at 25 lbs in Tennessee in the 60s. Would need a bigger cooler.
Great catches. I may have to make my way up there from DE and put my MD fishing license to good use. I have never caught a Walleye in my life and this is one of my bucket fish to film on my channel 302-FISHING. Showed you some love. Rage Swimmers are the best swimbaits !!!
Congrats! Walleye are a great fish to catch! Weve fished them in Canada since I was 3. Unfortunately there aren’t many left in NC. They are fighters and a lot of fun to catch and my parents love eating them!
Congratulation on your first walleye! Living in northwest Ohio I'm spoiled I catch them every year. Fish with teeth and there eyes glow like a cat with a flashlight at night.
🇺🇸❇⚓🔩🍻🔩⚓❇🇺🇸....¡Brings back my commute from years ago right over the dam before entering Rising Sun, an interesting town ha! Evening & Buenos neches from down here in Charm City & Towson sir/senor!....
My first Eye was from the Shenandoah River. I didn't even know they were in the river. It was a 25.25" 6lb 5oz Citation. I've sight fished for them. They seem to like Zman Hula Stick on a Zman Enrolls micro jig, both in Green Pumpkin. You should definitely look into getting a Torqeedo motor for your kayak.
Congrats on the walleye I just caught my first two about a month ago first one was 18 inches second one was 24 inches and weighed 5.5 lbs they are fun and good to eat I must say myself
Very cool spot , next time cut the gills and it will be a much cleaner filler job & the meat will look a lot more “white” . You can just slow roll that setup as long as you keep it off bottom , snapping it will also work great as you see 👍
Love the video. Feeling the same as you before you recorded this as I’m eager to get on some walleye. Was wondering if you’ve had any recent luck with them at Conowingo and if you have any tips or recommendations for summer/ fall Walleye fishing there?
@@MentalHealthDay82 thanks appreciate it. And yeah that’s the plan this weekend. Seems like one of the few places around where you can pull in decent stripers from the shore
That’s great, I’ve caught catfish and strippers at the dam,but never walleye. I live in northern Lancaster county and did not buy a Maryland license this year. Been fishing North Carolina a lot last few years but I guess I’m gonna get 3 license’s in 2023
@@MentalHealthDay82 if I knew you were going to be there I would of joined you and threw a line in to and put together a metal defecting trip with the Hoover Boys
@@MentalHealthDay82 they are if you can hook them up. The problem is that the lake is a reservoir. Every winter it gets near empty. They filled back up again from snow melt of Lake Tahoe and the Carson river. That being said one year the fishing will be fantastic to where the next will be terrible.
@@MentalHealthDay82 a night video at the dam would be cool and yes, the smithwick Perfect 10 at night is a walleye killer. You just gotta reel extremely slow
I would kill to fish off of the catwalks again. My grandfather and I would fish often, and my father and I have fished there as well. The lower catwalk was the best place to fish and the catfish there were massive. Unfortunately the carp were massive as well, nasty ol’ trash fish, but there was always a group of guys speaking Chinese or African that would happily use their net to pull those disgusting fish up, and they were more than welcome to them! The ‘Fisherman’s Wharf’ they built sucks, pure and simple. It’s too small and it’s not one of the catwalks, and there’s not many big cats near the wharf as they tend to stay around the dam’s gates. Closing the catwalks also destroyed the fishing industry at the Dam; all of the bait shops that had been there long before I was even born in 78 all went out of business shortly after Delmarva closed the catwalks. My dad worked for the federal government for thirty years and he read a report that the catwalks were closed not too long after 9/11 when security chased two Arabic guys from the dam, and they supposedly had enough c4 to turn the largest dam this side of the Mississippi into Swiss cheese. I don’t know for sure if that is what happened, but I’ve heard that story from others as well. At any rate, I want my catwalks opened back up for fishing. If they wanted to charge people for it that would be fine with me - I’d pay to fish there and it would keep people who aren’t serious anglers from being up on the dam.
Congratulations on the Walleye. I've fished for them most my life. They are so fun to catch and delicious to eat. Thanks for sharing and take care. ✌️
Congratulations!!! Can't wait for the cooking!!! God bless!!!
I'm 64 and the Walleye have always been up there. There's more there now than years past.
Good to know. I've never targeted them before
I've fished Conowingo regularly since the mid-70s and have never caught one.Plenty of rockfish, white perch and catfish.Congradulations
Thanks!
Walleye are great fish to catch. We go to Lake Erie and fill the cooler with them. Thanks for sharing this video with us, Kurt. Stay Safe and Healthy
Congratulations! A little (figuratively) Christmas present.
Well done. Look forward to the clean and cook.

Kurt if you ever come to Ohio to see Chris for a long stay I will get you on Lake Erie fishing for walleye
Lake Erie walleye capital of the world I love that Lake!!!
I'm so game! Thank you
Congrats!! Great eating too.
Thanks!
There's a local bait shop close to there, and there used to be a place there that used to sell some fishing stuff years ago.
Nice! the only thing I ever caught at Conowingo was a cold haha!
I believe that!
good job! I like your energy too!

I went out on a charter on Lake Erie in May of 2020 and caught my fish walleye. It was an amazing day. Congratulations Kurt!
Awesome!
Any tips for tryn to catch some fish at the dam this time of year ?
Just what I did this day. I tried last year. No luck
There is a place that I have fished for 10 years now and I caught the first trout out of there this year.

What baits did you use last time I went fishing there I caught a striped bass
I use to catch the hell out of white perch up there
How heavy was that paddle tail you were fishing?
Try smoked walleye. It's so good!
What kind of fishing license do you need to fish in this place tidal or non-tidal?
Tidal.

Tastiest fish ever.
i use the same set up and jig the same way trut me you will love eating them as well i fish for the mid november to mid march
"Where's my skillet?"
3 to 4 pounders are the best eating size.

The best eating cold water fish (fresh water)
Atlantic salmon the best eating river fish over the other side of the pond from yous unfortunately we don’t get walleye 🏴👍

Believe it or not walleye are members of the perch family, and walleye love eating lil yellow perch.
