He called for prayers for the people in California, but said the people there are politically wrong and Governor Newsom is "wrong on about everything," but the people "still are human beings" and "deserve better." Then he said hopefully when Trump is president he'll do something to help the state of California. Someone else in the comments tried to say that Governor Newsom had messed up and it was his fault. One of the main reasons for worse and longer fire seasons is climate change. California has always led the way on controlling auto emissions to try to protect the environment. It has not always been popular and is sometimes costly, but is nothing compared to the damage a warming world will bring. Unfortunately MAGA, in their infinite wisdom has put a climate change denier into the presidency. Probably at the worst possible time for our planet. I have been a dual citizen all my life, having lived both in the US and in Canada. I could always tell a difference. I encountered ignorance and hate throughout the US. The reason there is ‘no water’ available in fire hydrants in LA is because the water lines have been broken or burned by the fire, so there is no water pressure, in addition to low water pressure due to 8 months of drought. I live in a rather small, rural community in the San Joaquin Valley. Agriculture is the main industry, with light industrial businesses scattered about. We, however, are next door to an important military complex, so we do have some international exposure. We're not all high school drop outs and low level employees. Water is a precious commodity and much time and effort is spent on how to allocate it. The thing I find difficult to understand is the support for Trump and the republicans when they do nothing for their communities. This seems typical of agricultural communities. California as a whole has been in a drought situation for several straight years. Water conservation is paramount. And Trump threatens to deny federal help when the fires begin again this summer. It is a given. They will.

He called for prayers for the people in California, but said the people there are politically wrong and Governor Newsom is "wrong on about everything," but the people "still are human beings" and "deserve better." Then he said hopefully when Trump is president he'll do something to help the state of California. Someone else in the comments tried to say that Governor Newsom had messed up and it was his fault.

One of the main reasons for worse and longer fire seasons is climate change. California has always led the way on controlling auto emissions to try to protect the environment. It has not always been popular and is sometimes costly, but is nothing compared to the damage a warming world will bring. Unfortunately MAGA, in their infinite wisdom has put a climate change denier into the presidency. Probably at the worst possible time for our planet. Not only that but he and his cult followers will throw all the blame on liberals that are trying their best to save the planet. So sick of MAGA. Shame on them.

He tried to claim the fires are due to climate change....has nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with land/water management/firemen resources/equipment/water access, etc. Newsome has had almost a decade to get water reservoirs built and run-off catchments in urban areas during flash flooding, roads cut in to give communities more than one way in/out of communities surrounded by state/federal land, clearing land to create fire breaks between forests/undeveloped land and communities, as well as bringing in goats/sheep to help reduce undergrowth, due controlled burns, etc. MASSIVE FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP time and again by Newsome.
I have been a dual citizen all my life, having lived both in the US and in Canada. I could always tell a difference. I encountered ignorance and hate throughout the US. When I lived in the South, I had people confront me because I had an education, claiming that "book smart" people have no sense. The MAGA movement isn't new. It's been with us since Reconstruction. Trump simply gave them the voice. I have moved back to Canada for good this time and I have closed the door. To all the descent people in the States, I wish you good luck and hope you survive.

It is surreal and very frightening especially when the fires are raging and leaping from tree to tree faster than any human or animal can outrun. Our collective hearts are with all Californians affected by this horrible event. There will be enormous loss and heartbreak but it will end. Lets pray its sooner than later. The reason there is ‘no water’ available in fire hydrants in LA is because the water lines have been broken or burned by the fire, so there is no water pressure, in addition to low water pressure due to 8 months of drought. Loss of power means that pumping stations don't have electricity which also is needed for water pressure. People blaming the Mayor (like racist ignoramus Elon Musk and the real estate mogul who lost the mayoral race) are just stupid, uncaring people with agendas.

I live in a rather small, rural community in the San Joaquin Valley. Agriculture is the main industry, with light industrial businesses scattered about. We, however, are next door to an important military complex, so we do have some international exposure. We're not all high school drop outs and low level employees. Water is a precious commodity and much time and effort is spent on how to allocate it. The thing I find difficult to understand is the support for Trump and the republicans when they do nothing for their communities. This seems typical of agricultural communities. California as a whole has been in a drought situation for several straight years. Water conservation is paramount. And Trump threatens to deny federal help when the fires begin again this summer. It is a given. They will.
Dont count on him to save you whatever state you're in. He's too busy entertaining oligarchs/ golfing.

I'm from Pennsylvania and I travel across the country every year to visit California. It has given me an appreciation for the overall diversity of what this country has to offer, including and especially California. Personally, I think we are, as a whole, less polarized than what we're led to believe many times, but DJT does nothing but "fan the flames" of polarization and he wouldn't have it any other way. Sad!
My understanding is it may not have started in the woods or an open space, it may have started in a residential area and got blown out of control by gusts between 60 to 100 mph. Ignorance in a president is not a quality to be encouraged.

I remember when we didn’t have any distinction like red or blue states. Now you can’t even relocate without huge political considerations. The Finnish President said he never told Trump that. He was explaining to Trump that, since they have many forests, they have a strong forestry service.
