Its so cool and weird how they recreated basically the original Maelstrom layout after 30 years but for Frozen.
I was about to say the same thing. I mean it’s kinda cool but pretty weird. The only other similar examples that comes to mind is how dinosaur at animal kingdom has an extremely similar layout to Indy so they just recreate it and changed the theme
I heard that the only Frozen attraction to be different is the one at Tokyo Disney Resort which will include some scenes from Frozen 02
This is probably the first time a reimagined ride has been cloned. Also, I noticed that this is mostly a mirror image of the one in Epcot. The last turn follows Epcot’s layout though.

@@austinwilliams87 The drop is much more intense than the EPCOT one. Steeper and higher.
Looks so much better than the EPCOT one! You can see that there's lots more details here, whilst also making some smaller changes, such as the placement of the drop on the left instead of the right!
Can't wait for it to get to Disneyland Paris!

Looks amazing! Also love how the drop is at the left side here, giving you more time in the Arendelle castle scene
Its so surreal that even with the choice to rebuild this ride anyway they wanted, they still said 'Nah Maelstrom was great keep the layout."
I feel like so many of the design decisions for the EPCOT ride were necessitated by retheming the (fantastic) original ride Maelstrom, such as the backwards section and the turn-around into the drop. It is amazing that with a blank slate they kept these design decisions. Given that the ride design is largely the same between Maelstrom and Frozen Ever After, it is sort of like having to build a clone of Maelstrom 35 years later.
couldn't agree more, complete MISSED opportunity. I know oriental land won't make the same mistake with Fantast Springs here in Japan.
They build an entire impressive Frozen land around it but the ride itself is more or less just an upgraded version of an old ride? It should have been a totally new concept like the Pirates ride in Shanghai vs Old Pirate ride.

Tokyo is always the ground-breaking one with its own franchise company while Hong Kong is still struggling with its finance so it makes sense for Hong Kong to just copy directly from Epcot.

I think it looks great and I love the animatronics, but I wish the walls in the hallway after the first drop (the one where Let It Go plays) were less flat, that part feels very bland.
It's look amazing. I can't wait more too have Frozen Land in disneyland Paris. :-)

The one at Walt Disney World's Epcot and Hong Kong Disneyland has the different routes, but it sure is a fun ride for all the people who have not been to the Frozen themed area at Hong Kong Disneyland theme park.
The one at Disneyland, Paris will end up having the same ride layout from the Norway Pavillion except for the one at Tokyo Disney Resort

It's funny to think there's a Maelstrom clone so many years later. Basically a copy of Epcot's ride. The final drop looks way bigger tho! Compared to other princess rides, this one is the best.
maelstrom is not clone worthy. this generation kids don't even know what viking is. But frozen is clone worthy for generations to come. From a business stand point, this is the core value of "cloneworthiness".

I do agree. While the extra scene transition spaces make the ride longer, I feel as though it drags it out a little. I actually prefer the Epcot version that clips along. It provides me with a more action-packed experience.
@@stevedavis7885absolutely agree. The transitions between scenes probably help capacity, but create dead spots in the story compared to Epcot

looks a lot like the one in Epcot. Good attraction but not amazing or next level. I would have thought they would have improved on it to a greater degree. Hoping that the one that opens in Tokyo next year will bring something different

@@ChristHoon difference is that the reason the attraction at Epcot is limited/short was supposedly due to shoehorning a retheme into the Maelstrom space. What is the excuse now?

Not looks like , it really is very tall… like much taller. I wonder why they follow the safety guidelines from epcot which they have such a bigger drop. I don’t think this ride is suitable for pregnancy nor guide dog at least…
@@jerryng1395Hong Kong's ride does apparently feature lap bars in the boats, which EPCOT doesn't have.

Is this the ride for Disneyland Paris? I was at Paris this week and i think that Frozen zone will be finished in 2025. Incredible slow construction.

I feel more mixed on this version, it has stuff that does really well. Then theirs stuff that Epcot's does better. My think is the boats could be spaced out a bit more to prevent scene overlap. Also feels like space was cut and not utilized as well. But its still a massive W for Hong Kong Disney! Also the ending scene is way better!

Scene overlap? This ride has much longer stretches between scenes than epcot to prevent boats behind and in front from seeing the previous or next scene. Prove your lie: give us a time code that shows "scene overlap". We will wait. Space was cut? Not even close. This ride is longer in every scene from Epcot Version. You should actually watch the Epcot version and compare side by side to see how wrong you are, then comment before looking ignorant. @@ThoosieJP

Amazing. It’s such a shame Disney didn’t invest this much creativity and money into The Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Clearly the worst Disney attraction built in the last 20-years. IF they had used the Peter Plan Flight upper track system the Little Mermaid would have been 1000% better. As it is, it’s a failed attraction.

This comment is so LMAO ridiculous. It's a solid E ticket ride. Upgraded version of the Epcot ride. And to say Little Mermaid is the worst ride built in 20 years shows you have not ridden the dreadful Millennium Falcon ride at Disneyland.

This doesn't make me want to fly to Hong Kong to see this. It already exists in Florida and they are also building one in Tokyo and Paris. Why go to Hong Kong to experience this?
Yes, I guess this is mainly for Asians who have never experienced the ride in epcot. But it’s still a very emotional ride( just rode it last Sunday), the fall seems to be more intense than the one in epcot. Besides, we don’t need to travel a long way to USA just for this ride. That’s a good thing.
