My grandad had an Aquasport about this same year. I learned how to sea trout and redfish out of it. Just purchased a 2007 Key West 1720cc to teach my kids how to do it. Great looking boat man. That owner took care of it, obviously. Awesome.
Pretty nice boat ! I earn nearly the same since 1991 ( mine is smaller but quite the same shape ) and I love it . Powered by a 2 stroke DT 40 Suzuki . Excellent boat for deep diving and fishing . I've transformed it a little for the use I have : day / night navigation , electronics , large gasoline tank , 100 meters mooring line . . .
I’m a west coast owner of the same boat. She handles island trips and is a machine for the inshore fishery we have in San Diego. Highly suggest keeping her!

We bought a 1986 17 Osprey Model Aqua sport new in 1986. Lived in Key Largo, dove the reef and trolled for Mahi Mahi (Dolphin Fish). Still have the boat, always kept it under cover when not used. Always made upgrades like a new Yami 90 two stroke. Like four strokes but they are heavy. Don’t know how to post on TH-cam or I would. This is an ideal mid range boat for king any kind of water sports. The Aquasport Osprey was made in a 22 ft model also and having the same lines, just bigger. Both designed by a Naval Architect and you feel it every time we use it. We, everyone in my family, gives it 5 out of 5 stars!
THats a great looking boat that seemed to handle those waves pretty good. A good size for trailering and mated nicely with that good running 90hp Yamaha. I love it.
To visit my girlfriend in Alice town, ( Bimini)...that was my weekly transport, (summer time)...Lauderdale to Bimini - 47 miles - 2 easy hours unless I found Dolphin in the grass mats then maybe 3 hours...great boat, keep it.
The lanyard is attached to a kill switch, so that when you get tossed off the boat, the engine dies and you can swim to the boat and climb back aboard.

I just got a 1987 one with evenrude 115 for free,not a boat guy but kinda handy.. engine turns but not sure what steps to take to get engine running, I’m guessing clean carbs first then put gas hose into a new container with gas mixed with oil and go from there? Any pointers would be appreciated…

Hey how was the center console seat installed? I’m looking at purchasing an osprey that doesn’t have seat but has a lean post and I would like to have a seat.
Honestly, with a bath that is an extremely nice boat. Lose the makeshift live well, and if you use a livewell then just plumb the compartment in front of the console to become a livewell. Literally all you need is an 800gph pump at the transom below the water line and a 500 gph pump to recirculate the water inside of the livewell.
Ryan Collins our front compartment was originally plumbed as a live well but we use it for storage. We usually don’t use live baits unless we are Kite fishing goggle eyes off Molasses Reef (4.6 miles from our dock in Key Largo). We troll fresh ballyhoos with a spilt tail. In Mahi Mahi schools we switch to 15# spinners with cut Bally, squid or shrimp. Nothing beats trolling in the Gulfstream, hearing “fish on” and having a school come up to the boat. We named our 17 Osprey WIGGLETAIL” after the 15 ft skiff my Grandmother’s got in Coconut Grove in 1935! We are an old Florida family from Key West, Lemon City and Cocoanut Grove (the correct “old timey spelling)

That's Good Advice You tell them I have a 21 CAPE HORN & A 21 SUNDANCE I Have been out in 8 ft seas with 5 kids 24 miles. & That CH Able to run 28 & 32 knots up & down all way out & back Incredible Boat. But I had to hang on to the wheel & I have a custom leaning seat ! So you are right you can be thrown down & out & lose control quick I loved Diving at Night for Flounder
Small boats are more fun. Easy to trailer, launch, retrieve and wash which means you'll use it more and enjoy it more. Good job. It's beautiful.

This one is a keeper. I have a Mako 17 and a Sea Pro 170. Can’t beat these small center consoles. Easy to tow and store in the garage.

I love my 82 170 aquasport. Great handling boats that run shallow and handle chop well.
