    Fun fact: The idea for Pikachu came from the pika! "Pika" in Japanese is the sound of an electric shock, like "zap" in English, and "chu" is the Japanese sound for a mouse. Pikas, though, aren't rodents, but lagomorphs, meaning they're more closely related to rabbits and hares. As you can probably tell, they're my favorite animal!

    The conclusion is great and smart. We passed the line "how can we stop it" long ago, now we are "what can we do to slow it and adapt to it".

    I'm a relative newbie to publicly commenting on TH-cam but I wanted to say I'm very grateful to see a respected publisher pursue this topic and I have no doubt this is because the presenters, amongst others, have personally pursued this cause and found like-minded advocates to carry it forward.
    I agree with others that this channel deserves way more subscriptions than it has so, hopefully, this small acorn will grow a mighty oak...

    one thing to beware of while talking about species adapting to global warming is - it hasn't stopped warming. it's going to keep warming for, at the very very least, another 1c degree and probably another 4c degrees by the end of the century and, assuming we won't change our ways, another 2-4c degrees after that. note: i'm using the IPCC conservative estimates of warming.

      @Fullmetalseth 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frank Rosser I completely agree with that but it seems like it would be in our best interest to remove it at the same time. I remember reading about an idea to have algae panels in cities to help scrub the air. Seemed like an easy thing to do while also lowering the emission rate.

      I think the idea is that we need to mitigate enough so that we are still within the realm of being able to adapt to the changes that will come. There's definitely a balance to the two.

    Food MAY become less plentiful?! As droughts in the US start causing crop failures, the world will suffer from starvation. Just google how much of the world out grain belt feeds. We won't suffer that badly, as we are wealthy enough to buy all the food we need. Africa, Asia and much of the rest of the Americas will not be so lucky.

    What about the animals and crops who become more plentiful and stronger as the climate gets warmer? Sure Picas are cute and fluffy, but are they more or less important than other species who've evolved, lived and gone extinct on this planet as climates, environments, and other species have dominated?

    Those payed for this vid really underestimate how much convincing the masses will need to actually fricken care.
    The only option I see as working is to wait until the coasters rise and they hundreds of thousands die. Some being there families this will make them care FINALLY. Sorry but not sorry but they deserved it.
