Heykid009 I have to disagree on that. Colleges always recommend taking advantages of their exclusive interns/jobs through their schools. Film schools tend to have their own equipment, camera, sound stage that you can use whenever and as often as you like. You spend the first year, learning and the next 3-7 years building your portfolio. From what I've seen, most students accepted have a great understanding of filmmaking from their portfolio they got in with. Now its mastering and making yourself stand out.
I dont think he is a genious, if you see his first short film and movie (The Following) good work by the way, but you will never think is the same director of Batman, I think he is a hard working passionate guy.
@@eduardopazhurtado3882 I think he took drama classes but didn't go to film school if I'm not mistaken. And I would think that Quentin Tarantino knows what he did or didn't do better than we do.
My favorite thing about Nolan is that whenever I see his name attached to a project, I know I will go see it in theaters. Because I feel he doesn't dumb down his movies or assume the audience can't handle not seeing explosions every five minutes - he just wants us all to enjoy his journey and story with him.
Most people went to film school back in the day to get their hands on equipment... you have the capability on your phone. Just make stuff and keep making stuff... I did that when I was little... I ran a VFX company, did some huge projects and even got nominated for a MTV VMA... now I’m writing and planning on directing a low budget feature.
eh, Dark Knight Rises is considerably flawed IMO. Maybe I as well as the rest of the audience am just spoiled after the Dark Knight, and to be fair that's a tough act to follow, but even so I think Dark Knight Rises has some very glaring objective flaws like unintentional silliness in some bits, a villain that's hard to understand what he's saying, a twist ending that makes the advertised villain sort of lame in the grand scheme of things, large plotholes that are much bigger then plotholes have been in the past movies, and the fact that because it's a continuation of the plot from Batman Begins and has practically nothing to do with the events of the dark knight, when you think about it the dark knight didn't really need to exist within the chronology of these films.
+TomboTime I agree with you that The Dark Knight Rises is probably his worst movie, but that is actually a compliment. I'm sure there are tons of directors who would want to have a movie like that as their worst one.
+TomboTime I agree that the Dark Knight Rises is very flawed. Bane's voice is annoying and the ending is kinda stupid. But I can't call it "bad". A bad movie is one with terrible acting, an uninteresting or convoluted story, etc. I just think that out of all the pointless action Hollywood movies filled with nothing but explosions, this movie is well above all of those. Not even close to the same level as the Dark Night like you said, but nowhere near "bad." It does continue the story from the Dark Knight, Batman is in hiding a majority of the beginning bc he took responsibility for Dent. The movie is called "Rises" because he has to come out of hiding and become Batman one last time. I agree with you, I think this movie is flawed, but I firmly believe it was a great end to a great trilogy. That's all I wanted when I saw it the first time and that's what I got.

Christopher Nolan ---------------------------- Masterpiece Films: • Inception • The Dark Knight • Batman Begins • The Prestige • Memento • Interstellar Great Films: • The Dark Knight Rises • Dunkirk • Following
Interstellar is officially the lowest rated film of his carreer. And he won a best director award with Dunkirk, which is one of the highest rated Nolan films. Also Batman Begins is definitely a "great" film, not a masterpiece.
He is the first director that opened my eyes on movies, I never be the same again and never love the same movies that I used to. His films put the my bars on movies so high.
When I was younger I never really cared about who the producers and directors were. But after I saw all of the Nolan films I became a fan of this mans films. Now every time I see a trailer or any announcement about a film being made by this person I get very excited.
I can relate to the filmmakers sayin they never went to school. I just picked a camera of my dad's (yes I'm lucky to have a dad who collected cameras over the years) and just shot. I've been shooting for 10 years now, and you just develop your own style eventually and you learn from mistakes organically, from real experience. I think that's part of the reason these directors like Nolan and Tarantino have their own distinct style. School isn't a bad thing, and if you decide not to go, you better be practicing constantly. No matter if you go or not practice and an open mind is what will get you to mastery.

There are many filmmaker that went to film schools and they're bad, but you can say the same thing for filmmaker that don't went to film school. Do you like Marvel movies? If so, watch the Dark Knight trilogy, best films in the superhero genre ever. As someone who enjoys some marvel films, TDK trilogy is a waaay better piece of cinema.
@@Luca-bv5ic I've seen dark night, but I'm mesmerized with joker character rather than Batman.
@@porapulka6102 ok so you have seen his movies. Yeah, the joker is the highlight and that's not really a bad thing. Honestly the joker is usually the highlight of anything he's in. The Tim burton batman film from 1989, the Arkham games...he's just a great character.
Try watching batman begins and inception.
Luca Patel yeah sure

There is not a single person in the whole world who does not love watching his films. He is my favourite director.
Thanks for watching #Believe :) #BTA1608 Veljko
Horror films today are missing good stories and scripts. Nolan is a master at those things. Would love to see him do a horror/thriller.
Agreed #Believe :) #BTA1615 Veljko
Rule 11: Make sure no one can understand your movies even after watching them.

Just watch them another 200 times and you’ll eventually get it

Reading the comments I think we are forgetting something really important here, every filmmaker named are great in what they do and they feel passion for what they do, the fact that they went or not to a film school is irrelevant. There are many filmmaker that went to film schools and they're bad, but you can say the same thing for filmmaker that don't went to film school. The really important thing you must know is that you need to feel passion for what you do, for your work. That's the only reason that matters.
Well said #Believe :) #BTA1633 Veljko
