I get a kick out of folks complaining about MKIII's. I had a MK1 when I was a kid it was absolutely the WORST pile of crap to ride! I'd drop it on the smallest of jumps and it weighed a ton. I ride a (semi-converted [added a banana seat]) MKIII today and am stunned at the improvement in ride-ability. It has brakes that actually work!.. and the light-weight aluminum frame has me pedaling UP hills instead of walking it like the old one. I also rode (jumped) a CCM Mustang as a kid (which was so much easier to stunt) so the Chopper usually just sat in the garage. I still have an old Mustang, but the MKIII is surprisingly easier and funner to ride. I salute whoever thought up the idea to re-produce (and vastly improve) the Chopper for 2004!!
MKIII was £30 tools and pipe i had, just got the bar and seat from ebay. Plus did not want a MKI or MKII as youngest son sits where shifter used to be when i take him for a spin. I have a purple MKII frame if I want to set up that.
Had the mk3 come like this as standard they would have been far more succesful, Great job mate, the mk3 looks great and more to the point, for kids they are safer because the brakes actually work. Well done Irish raleigh Chopper Club
Copper pipe is malleable and totally unsuitable as a structural support. Also being a dissimilar metal from the sissy bar will set up an emf and corrode the bodged components together. Next week's episode, how to make a fried Mars bar, from two twixes melted together.
Very good video! I wonder: Could I pass measures bicycle? I want to build a bicycle frame that is similar to it. Is that in Argentina there of these bikes and the economy that we can not import. Thanks in advance.
hey has that seat post been re-chromed.Now all you have got to do is super glue a door handle to the top tube,and no one would know it was'nt a mk2.Enjoyed your video thanks.

I would have put the duct tape on the back side first and then the front piece so the seam will be covered towards the back. I love duct tape. And yes I think you're very smart.
I was digging on my allotment and I found a mk2 chopper ! Lol , no that’s not true, I’ve just come by one and was looking for tips on restoration etc and I stumbled across your vid, it did make me laugh, I have thought about doing the same to my sons mk3 That’s said I am going to mention my mk2 on my channel, maybe do a piece on it. Hey here’s a crazy idea , subscribe to my channel, I’m trying to get to 1k this year..! Have you still got the bike??
2019 now, for-all, I was a kid when these were new, all of the banana-style bikes were near-impossible to ride even back then, they were strictly a status-symbol, guy would pose with it (on flat ground) and hope you would want a try, he'd give it because otherwise it was useless and after 30 seconds everyone knew how bad they were. Then (1969?) the 5-speed banana bikes came and that was the best that anyone could have on flat ground and pose-with but then only the best that could keep the secret got a test-ride because those were just as awful at inclines of any-kind...
Could barely understand you fella, got the dogs bollocks though, i don't understand why they remade the chopper different from the 70s model, everyone i know who had the new one converted it to the original one
With the money you wasted on the mk3, which includes buying it!! You could have bout a decent mk2 or an ok mk1, you should be asking your self, what was the point of making this video!!!!

I was going to find some blue tape to put on the pole on my bicycle so it would match bicycle frame.

i think that is a bit small for you i just trade it in on a road bike or beach cruser that fits you getter and easyer and more comfertable to ride
its eally good converting a mk3 to a mk3.5 i would have called it a mk4
