Wonderful ! So nice to see this "late production" aeroplane in the air, I never dig get to see this one, so many thanks for taking me along on this show.
Thankyou. Again, it's a pleasure to be able to share these gems with you and others who are not able to get to the shows in person. I have a few more 'gems' from Shuttleworth waiting 'in the wings'.
It was the most recent Airfix model that I made. A nice little model for your son to do. The most fiddly bit was when I added all of the bracing 'wires', which of course you don't have to do. I used glued on strands from a paint brush!
There are quite a few original WW1 era planes still flying. This one is actually a reproduction that was completed in 2017, so It's not as old as it might seem.

No, it's a 'new build replica'. The final 6 paragraphs of the extended description give details. I believe that Sir Thomas Sopwith said, when he saw the completed build, that it is good enough to be classed as an original production variant?
I’ve never enjoyed flying the Camel, even though l respect its qualities…it’s just too touchy. The SE5 is a joy to fly, as is the Fokker DVII. That said, my scariest ride was the Fokker EIII - it’s like a bloody farm cart!
Wasnt the sopwith one of the deadliest to take off with and to drive? It actually caused as much death in the air as in the airfield, yes It was superior the fokker eindecker models but It was NOT a good plane in my opinion
@@HerrCobra_762 There's an original flying in New Zealand with The Vintage Aviator, registered ZK-SDL. It was sold by a museum in Arkansas USA in 2010 and restored to fly by the new owners.

The two most iconic airplanes in my opinion are the Sopwith Camel and the SR 71 Blackbird they were made just 50 years apart. 🤯
that’s insane?
Mind blowing
@@LQB42 SHOKING!!!!
Dont mention the moon landings
We used to be an ingenious bunch. Now we can't figure out what sex we are.
Two of my favourite aircraft makes, Sopwith and Hawker. The Pup, the Camel, the Hurricane, the Typhoon.
If you can fly a Sopwith Camel... you can fly anything! -Biggles
I'm always saying that quote.

My fav WW1 warbird as a boy
I like them all, but just about my favorite WW1 fighter plane.
You can now see a one half scale model in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada. Contact their museum. Beautifully built.
What a sight indeed.
Microsoft flight sim brought me here.
Chuck Yeager Flight sim for computers of the 80's was fantastic! Unlimited ammo was great!
Superb video many thanks for posting.
I am just building this model with my 7 year old son! 😃

Love the camel...
I must’ve spent hours flying one of these things around O’Hare in Flight Sim 2.0. Awesome aircraft!
Snoopy’s plane.
Biggles' aeroplane.
Do they still have one in the Imperial War Museum?

It's called 'The Shuttleworth Collection' at Old Warden near Luton, Bedfordshire in the UK. Here's a link to their website - www.shuttleworth.org

Is this a reproduction or an original?
It’s a reproduction made between 1995 and 2013.
