I would like to add that describing experimentalists just as those who go out there and see which theory is right (if any) isn't the complete story. The reason beyond developing a new theory in physics is often found in unexplicable experimental results that have contradicted the theories previously established. They not only check theories, but they do discoveries. It's a cirle, not a segment.

Theorists give hypotheses and gives a possible explanations for the unvierse.
Experimentalists test those hypotheses and determine if they are actually correct or possible.
Engineers apply and implement the ideas.

I will be a physics major in the fall and I think I might want to become an experimental physicist. I remember learning about the cavendish experiment and the gold foil experiment and realizing that the true knowledge exists in the idea becoming the reality. Theory alone is just belief, and knowledge comes from experiencing the belief. Some of the projects I have had the most fun making have been projects that take a concept and turn it into a physical model. An example is a marx generator where all the parts where homemade out of water. It's an idea I saw on the internet so I don't claim it to be my own, but seeing the idea, and then actually going out to buy the parts and seeing it made was really cool. It was basically breaking down what resistors and capacitors are, and taking that concept, making it more abstract, and using water to create them. Helped me understand how electricity works within those components, and not just trust that they are what they are.

i think there’s more famous theorists because they’re the ones that come up with the ideas that are proven by the experimentalists, and lets be honest, coming up with the theories and showing it to be mathematically consistent is where the credit rightfully lies for being responsible for the technology and such that it can lead to. the experimentalists are extremely important but i think it makes sense why theorists get more credit, and it may even be true that the theorist wouldn’t get famous for their theory without the experimentalist since the theorist’s theory wouldn’t be proven without the experimentalist

    • @jesuschrist1501

everyone is a theorist including engineerist, however not everyone is a engineerist. every time a engineer do some experimentation they observe and use mental thought to calculate and understand the concept at hand, it may not be as rigorous as theorist who just specializes in that, however its a point of acknowledging that everyone is a theorist when going into this, however not everyone is an engineerist, you can sit around your asses all day not doing a lick of experimentation.

We need to go back to r² and the three-dimensional physics of the Inverse Square Law. The spherical 4πr² geometry is key to this concept, based on Huygens' Principle from 1670, which states: "Every point on a wave front of light has the potential to create a new spherical light wave." Each point on the curvature of the wave front can be considered a potential photon ∆E=hf electron interaction exchanging potential energy into the kinetic Eₖ=½mv² energy of matter in the form of electrons.
This can be based on E=MC² with the squaring of the speed of light representing a geometrical process forming a square of probability Ψ²
We experienced this as a continuously emerging probabilistic future 'time' with the spherical 4πr² surface acting as a boundary condition or manifold for the uncertainty ∆x∆pᵪ≥h/4π encountered in daily life.
