Makes sense... Not having Any extra help in the backfield (i.e., bigger RB or TE to help with blocking) knowing you don't have the best O-Line didn't make any sense. Also, running the little freshman RB Dylan Edwards thru the middle knowing that, that O-Line isn't that good at creating holes wasn't the best idea in my opinion.

Yo seriously!!! The TE #87 cannot pass block, and was getting manhandled. Also, I never understood why Dylan Edwards was often used as a primary pass blocker. He's explosive but he isn't blocking anyone over 200lbs

Dylan IS NOT a powerback, but he starts, and they run him into the line that gets no holes. 2nd and 15 anyone? If they used him in space and motion him, the running back production would be completely different, and so would the record. Positively.

The OC can make specific line calls to help the o-line. I've watched a number of game and notified they don't have blocking TEs to help, or even keeping the O-line in a tighter formation so players will not be running through gaps untouched. Each play the O-lineman seemed like each lineman was on their own little island getting destroyed.

The fact Shedeur is the most sacked QB and we keep running this EXTREME SPREAD of an offense with no TEs helping the line men. Its just wild to me. He never tries to shorten the play calling, he leaves the run game when it works on scoring drives. Everything is EXTREMELY vertical and not lateral. CU needs more crossing routes and play action/short passes. His scheme wasnt working when it truly mattered most. Its like beating a dead horse. Its gonna keep getting and looking worse. lmfaoo. I think Pat Shurmer going to bring a more balanced approach that everybody been waiting for and is a better style of football for this team to play. They have a NFL QB, run NFL style offense, they need to coordinate that run game and create that balance within the offense. You have an undisciplined OLine.. BUT you can help your line by emphasizing the fundamentals of zone and counter, and the use of misdirection and draw plays finish your blocking assignment. All a key part of the offensive scheme that opens up that passing game. It's like math you can't get the result you're looking for by over emphasizing the run or pass. The balanced game has been proven throughout the test of time to be the way winning football is played.

Watching Sean in the Well-Off videos I'd say the following:
    1) Sean brought some energy and getting the players to respond in a basic volume and engagement.
    2) Sean's behavior seemed inauthentic despite the energy and engagement. Listening to him, I as a player would have felt removed and like our time with him was purely a disconnected professional engagement.
    3) Watching the Buffs OFF. steadily fall apart as the season progressed told me he has given up on connecting with his Offense or getting the components of his Offense to gel. Which is further evidenced by the Offense becoming 1 dimensional and relying solely on #2 & #12 with the rest of the Offense receding as an after thought.
    4) Sean's ability to be creative and keep the spark of life in the offense was lacking in practice as much as it is on the field.
An OC that is not innovative, connecint, or keeping up... will murder an entire season.
My senior year of HS fball, we had a new but terrible OC and we had a junk record, and the last game our play calling was miserable per the usual and we fell behind in the 1st half. The OC pampered and obsessed over our mediocre junior QB because he wanted to get in with that family and their influence, and tried to treat him like he was a Manning. So I playing left tackle on O, (and tackle on D) took over play calling starting the 2nd half, and told the offense that frankly we were going to run the ball off my ass, and we were going to turn the rest of the game into smash mouth football. We were going to beat the hell out of them, get them to knuckle under first, or we would lose, and I would take the entire blame, but I as a senior was not going to lose my last game taking orders from that OC idiot anymore, and I told him to his face that he wasn't calling the plays anymore. I also told the offense that if they had any problems they could get off the field. No one left.
First drive we had some life, but punted.
Second drive was really hard because they were throwing everything at us because we were only running thru two gaps, but we got a FG and you could see a fire growing.
Third & Fourth drives were murderous, but they began to really knuckle under after the 2nd and 3rd first downs and we started to break loose for big plays and got TDs and won.
All the while forcing them to go 4-n-out every time, but once they got a FG.
I will always remember standing there in the rain, bleeding everywhere and enjoying that moment of sweet victory with friends and family.
Our team celebrated so much after that game and it was really emotional because everyone had felt so defeated the entire season after being a playoff team for many years prior. That was the last year that OC was at our HS, the HC left soon after too. The QBs family forever hates me. Even today when I go home they glare at me.
Being a leader takes real sacrifice. Honestly I felt like that was the hardest game I had ever played (despite playing better teams during playoff / championship games in prior seasons). I was so bruised, bloodied, and beat up, but it taught me a lot about adults and being young and inept leadership.

But, he wasn’t getting killed back there in the USC game when he changed to running plays. Correct me if I’m wrong they were down by two scores with four minutes on the clock. Also his Kent State teams struggled just like this, and we brought in the HC, OL Coach and two O-lineman who have been equally liable for the o-line debacle. Everybody is learning, experiencing growing pains, so we (the fans) should not have some unrealistic expectations, not in their first season together. Now I see this news, and suddenly that moment feels less weird.
What role did that play in this decision? Who knows? But I find it hard to believe that it was irrelevant. (And btw, if there was a fly on the wall in that team meeting and you're reading this, feel free to give me a call.)
The one thing I can say about CP and the Buffs: Despite millions of true-blue haters, there are still millions and millions of people who wanna see this succeed. Not just fans; but NFL legends, other sports legends, people with resources.
A lot would have to go left for this mission to objectively fail. Time will tell, of course. But a move like this one suggests to me that Deion means it when he says, "We are looking to win *now*."

My guess is that Coach Prime broke the news to the o-line in their face to face meeting, positioning it as a "fresh start" that will better match their current skill levels with the play calling. Hopefully, the meeting will have restored some level of "I believe" in the o-line and made them feel valued in the eyes of the coach (in part due to the early notice).

Charles Kelly is running a basic middle school defensive. He doesn’t blitz to help out the pass rush at all. The DBs are put on a island and they can’t cover besides Travis. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Cormani leaves after season. Doesn’t seem like he is happy, all of this is my opinion. The issue is the TCU game no one knew what to expect, but the other games he kept calling the same plays, instead of game planning for each team, so the teams were able to shut them down. The oline will benefit if they are able to run the ball since it will slow down the pass rush. The way the offense is now the defense just needs to sprint to the Qb. If they run some delays or draws it will slow down the rush.

There are players looking at the fact that there is a need that they can come in and fill from day one! You're about to have a lot of players who are just sitting on a bench who will never play at an SEC, B1G, or PAC-12 school! Did you notice them running to other schools last year? They need some beef from Wisconsin who puts offensive linemen in the NFL every single year over any other position! I'm pretty sure that there are some in Colorado as well! I've been watching college football since the 70s and live in B1G country... I'm used to setting schools like Wisconsin and Nebraska from the 90s, who pushed the defense and ran down the field! These guys are coached, but they just stand there! You can't run the ball to get constant 3 and out downs, then think that you don't throw the ball a bunch to try to get down the field! They can't even punch it in with a 1st to 4th and goal to go! People just key in on #2!

Coaches are watching each other’s game plans and seeing what he does and when…they also watch how he reacts to certain situations like when he sees his o-line is getting killed but refuses to go max protect…he has no type of run game because he’s not trying to go there and teams know it…so they don’t respect it…
Just because the o-line is thin in talent doesn’t mean you can’t win with them. It takes a true tactician, someone who knows the strengths and weaknesses of his team and can game plan a way to win despite what they have. How do you think that Patriot’s won so many championships…Bill was a tactician…he knew he had Tom Brady and a bunch of second rate players…but he game planed to take away the opponents key player while putting the ball in Tom’s hand !

Good call! I'm still not sure why they didn't run a bootleg or sprint pass for Shedeur and get him outside of the pocket. If you cant block inside then get him outside to pass and give him the option to run!! Let's go!

The empty backfield does not provide any protection for the Q.B. and let's the defense know you're going to pass

Bout time. Been calling for this since week 3-4 but better late than never. Lewis has been wasting Jimmy and Dylan, but especially Jimmy. One of the fastest guys in the COUNTRY and always matched up with safeties and LBs, yet never sees downfield targets or the opportunity to play in space is criminal.

Protections and timing would help the Buffs. I think Shurmur could help with that tremendously
