Very great harmonies! I love the feeling of tension building before the resolution of "I love you". Lovely work!

Glad you liked most of it!!! What 30% wasn’t to your liking?

Yeah I really liked most of it. Particularly the first 25 bars.
The modulation on bar 26 needed more setup. It felt out of place and abrupt. Also the chord in bar 29 is awkward (particularly the soprano part), especially given that you had only just introduced that b natural a little before. It feels like we've only just beginning to aclimatise to the C major / F lydian vibe then suddenly its cut short. When you land back in F its fine again.
The grandioso section also doesn't quite work for me. It's the kind of thing that maybe sounded alright in playback in notation software, but feels very muddy in performance. There's a lot of harmony that is lost in the mix and I can hardly hear the altos (classic). Maybe with the right performers it would work (not to say that this lot didn't do an awesome job overall), but there's a lot going on and the split sops singing up so high doesn't help with clarity.
The end feels cheesy (particularly with the IV-iv-I and little break before the end). More importantly it feels diconnected from the rest of the piece. Perhaps bringing back a returning motif from earlier would serve as a closing of the loop? Maybe you did and I missed it, in which case the point effectively stands. All that being said of course, what is cheesy to me might be poignant to you, so fair play if that's the case.

@gregorianlion5655 I appreciate it! You listed a lot of the issues I have with the piece (especially the modulation to F 🫣😂). The ending I definitely wanted to be a tad cheesy (it is a choral song called I Love You…) but I may have over done it, especially since I never used a iv before that part. Thanks for the feedback!

Really nice piece, although the high C is perhaps a bit high for our choir. I think it might sound even better in a less dry acoustic environment.

Thanks for listening and you’re absolutely right. Funny story: on the day of recording I had a recital hall booked with a much more live acoustic setting, but when I got there, someone was giving a lecture recital at that time. So I had to find a new space quickly and we ended up in a pretty dry room.

I don’t have a slower recording at the moment but I think it would work nice slower in a large cathedral or some more resonant space

No! It’s cut off in the score video but the text is by Sara Teasdale! Beautiful poetry that I could never write 😅

@@collinmccookcomposer Thank you for the answer! I thought, it might be posted in April on purpose, because the lyrics start with "When April bends above me" and later there is "When April tells the thrushes". That's why I was asking for a coincidence.

C'est une chorale américaine. Ce sont tous des chanteurs qualifiés, mais ils n’ont eu qu’une heure pour apprendre et enregistrer ce morceau. Il ne s'agit pas d'un enregistrement professionnel.
