This was the best interview/conversation with the band, great questions based on great knowledge and then lets them speak, I don't recall John ever speaking over his guests.
    Brilliant stuff.

Wow! Great interview. Thank you John Robb. Your interviews and just entire body of all your work in general is top notch and so informative and curious. As a kid from the next generation b. Mid 1970s who grew up in a minuscule town in rural Ontario Canada Toronto searching for and rightly finding the counter culture through punk, i related to your talk of growing up and searching for punk and defining your own punk style in Blackpool. I’m going to re listen to this excellent interview again now.

Quite a change from the Oh Brother podcasts where they weren’t even listening to their own music much anymore. Fabulous stuff!

Great interview and interesting hearing the fellas discuss the dynamics and how it was in the early years. The Beeb should make a documentary including as many members as possible and the Smith family. Would be brilliant and hilarious!

Hey John, really enjoyed hearing the guys talk about their perspectives on the band's history at this point in their lives/careers-- great questions as usual. Cheers!

Well done to Google analysis adding James Brown (American musician 1933-2006) to the "People mentioned" section 🙃

@@JOHNROBBofficial Thank you! I've no idea. It looks alright, though. I couldn't remember what the line-up was back then, so having the names listed is useful, especially if they're doing the talking.

Didn’t The Fall record in Pennine Sound or Graveyard? I’m sure Joy Division used the former a few times.

Don't think they recorded at Pennine but certainly at Graveyard (it's round the corner from MES pubs and Bargain Booze). Also Fall recorded at Cargo, Rochdale along with Joy Div and many others.

I did notice loads of reissues and bootlegs after marks death ! Some sound good some sound shite ! And I have noticed a load of shit bands ripping him off especially his vocal style! But that’s nothing new !
