Biogas Production From Hybrid Napier Grass By Dr. P.C. Patel and Mr Vikas Mishra

Napier grass is exceptionally high in potential dry matter yield, making it an excellent choice for this process. The grass has high digestible organic matter content and is also an ideal feedstock for anaerobic digestion. Napier grass is among the most promising grasses available for large production in the tropics and subtropics.
Furthermore, Napier grass is the latest energy crop being promoted by the government. The Ministry of Energy’s Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency has run projects promoting biogas production from Napier grass for the purpose of generating electricity, cooking gas, and biogas for vehicles.
Conclusion:
The experiment results indicated that it was discovered that with a 24-hour microbial pre-treatment, 100 kgs of the green forage grass of Super Hybrid Napier yielded 6 kgs of biogas, which had a 62.3% methane content. Alternatively, when the same feedstock underwent a 24-hour pre-treatment with 1 % NaOH, a slightly higher yield of 6.5 kg of biogas with 61.5 % methane content was obtained (Rahul Jain, 2023)
The study was conducted at Biofics Pvt. Ltd, Surat, Gujarat, India
From both studies, we can conclude that microbial treatment and chemical (base) treatment were required to obtain a higher yield of biogas from Napier grass. The results of the investigations indicate that both provide comparatively similar yields and microbial treatment was more cost-effective and easier than chemical treatment.

Treated 1% NaOH solution with Hybrid Napier grass and slightly increasing biogas production but microbial activity is better and safe than NaOH.
