Or try to make their worries or their "back in the day when I was your age" crap seem more important than you, we eventually give up and don't really say much, bottling it up etc

If this was me in her situation and I saw the big reveal that it was all just planned and everyone was okay seeing the party and everything...... I'd honestly be mad.. I'd be pissed, I'd just ignore the decorations, the time spent putting the party all together, I'd just be mad BECAUSE...this is why.... because the fact that I was crying and thinking that they were kidnapped and possibly DEAD only to find out it was all just a trick to surprise me I'd be mad and lash out at my parents and everything then just leave .... I'd just leave not wanting to be around anyone for a while then go back after calming down a little bit, and have some cake ......

I honestly don't know if this story is true or not but what the parents did wasn't ok. Wow... I don't even know were to start with how f*cked up this is.
Considering the daughter was already in a semi-depressed state and had a shaky relationship with her parents, anyone who thought any of that would be even remotely amusing is nothing short of a sadist. Then she's left in a garage for an hour with a dilema between chosing her boyfriend who is supportive of her, or her family who she feels doesn't even love her -- and being unable to chose. If she turned out to have a weak heart, the anxiety here could have easily killed her. If not that, I know for sure after a few minutes I would probably vomit and begin injuring myself, at best hitting objects against my head (a common reaction to extreme stress/anxiety).
After years of neglect she is hit with a life and death situation and the reality that she still loves her parents despite everything. Then it turns out, it was all a lie. All of that was an attempt to manipulate her emotions in an attempt to make a mockery of her feelings of abandonment. Basically a huge middle finger, and 100% tone-deaf.
"See honey? Even if we treat you like shit, you still love us (sucker...)! So we decided to scar you for life and humiliate you in front of all your friends as an apology/the ultimate f*ck you."
A more plausible reaction would probably be something like... she probably would have smashed the cake into the mom, pimp slapped her dad with all her might, and threw the tray at the boyfriend. Then she'd probably flip a table over and tell all the guests that the party was over. They basically ignored her birthday for 4 years, and then had to ruin this one for her (she was planning to at the very least have a nice night with her boyfriend) by making it about them and turning it into a sadistic joke.
Hey guys, here's an idea for the mom's birthday! Why don't they get the dad to break in to the house at night with a gun and a robber's mask over his head. Then he can rape "his wife", and afterwards pull off the mask and have all their friends and family jump out and say:
"SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
It wouldn't really be rape, because he was ACTUALLY her husband all along, right? I'm sure she'll have a good laugh afterwards.

Sorry man, this was way back when I was really bored and binging this stuff like crazy. Most of these stories are pretty similar, and start to really piss you off in large quantities. You can only watch so many stories about complete assholes before it gets to you a bit.
Got pretty frustrated eventually and had to get it out of my system. I don't really watch these kind of videos anymore, because the novelty wore off, and I found stories about total pricks just got me more riled up than entertained.
