Not gonna lie, this ending took me completely off guard when I first saw it, namely 'cos it was pretty much the first time I'd ever seen an RPG actually have the balls to go _this_ far with an 'evil' ending... What truly makes it so hilarious/depressing is just how UTTERLY _screwed_ your former companions are... they literally have *ZERO* chance of winning - heck, I don't think you could lose this battle even if you tried!
@@snoobcat Outside of using cheats, I really don't see how it would be possible... your companions' DPS is far too low to ever outstrip your regen; plus, the reprisal mechanic - which the player has no control over - would likely kill off everyone but Nina & Eshin, even if all you did was defend... basically, this was not a battle ever intended to be lost!
@@PeteTheGrouch No, no i did it in the original ps1 when i was a kid. I didn't even know cheats like gameshark existed back then. My memory is a bit fuzzy when it comes to the details about the fight, but i still have vivid memories of me trying as hard as i can to lose as infini, only to be super disappointed when it just showed the game over scene. Iirc what i did was to have Fou-lu equip a weak sword obtainable from the bandit instead of the royal sword in order to prevent him from accidentally killing someone with that +1 hit, and also since the +1 hit part doesn't work if you hit yourself as well as removing all his armor to reduce his defense in dragon form in his last playable scene. Then i boost scias' attack with the dragon blade (and probably to cray and ursula too). I also used focus lv3 using the armor from the rider. Then i just hit myself, i think it was also a self inflicted crit hit too. Breath of fire 4 is one of my favorite game of all time, you don't know just how many times i've replayed the game. Other things that i've done is beating rider like 10+ times in a row relatively low leveled (like lvl 30-35 not too sure) without cheats, without resting in an inn, without using dragon forms, and without the spell that can only be used once every 3 hours. It's possible using Ryu with the cursed sword and super combo. I think i was farming the king's armor from rider back then.
You can just use Soul Rend on yourself. It will bring you down to 1 health and then let the party members finish you off. You'll get game over before your health can regenerate.
I actually prefer this ending. Yuna gets what she deserves, and, Fou- Lu giving up on humanity is actually believable given what he's seen ( terrible war before he founded the Fou empire and with the carronade). In the true ending Yuna is Left alive to keep doing what she was doing. If there is a main antagonist to this story it's Yuna.
I think the game should have had 3 endings, the third being after getting any of the two endings as a post credit gaming sequence where the Ayer has to find Yuna and destroy her, since she is the responsible of all the ulterior evil doings in the world.

Anti-Disney ending.
If you don't attack Nina talk something like "Is Ryu there?"
If you heal them with an item yes, you get: Ryu! That is you, isn't it, Ryu!?
Which just makes the whole thing more emotional.

Sorry but I don't get how Yuna was punished with this ending, unless it was because all mortals would suffer and she's in the package.
