THis was one of my worse Selects I own. THe legs are terrible as they cannot STAND straight,, the arms cannot bend for optic blast pose, the extra head is nice but it was a terrible choice for a Scott Summers Unmasked head.
Diamond Select It's not so much what I would have chosen as it really has to do with the execution. Like I said I own lots of DIamond Select products, just discovering the Knight Rider stuff, the head on Cyclops is a little elongated and because of that the face and overall head looks very droopy. The unmasked face could be better, I see the serious military face in Cyclops but the elongation of the head makes him look old and weary rather than tough and strict. And to be honest, I own TWO of these guys, I was hoping the first on I bought was defective, the legs cannot stand shoulder width, so I purchased a second one to make sure as I am used to better products from Diamond. I am a fan of the Select sculpting and work, and I eagerly and patiently await my Jim Lee 90's Cyclops from Diamond Select one day. I enjoy this conversation and thanks for taking the time to ask.
Diamond Select Can I put in my two cents even though it's not my comment? I think the unmasked head has a slightly pudgy look to it since the jaw is so big and rounded. Cyclops was nicknamed "slim" for a reason and a pudgy face doesn't really match that. He is usually depicted with high cheekbones as well. Actors like Chris Evans and Brandon Routh kinda fits that profile: strong angular jaw and high cheekbones. Missing paint on the eyebrows definitely took away manliness points as well. A scowling Cyclops with furrowed brows conveys to me the seriousness a leader must keep in order to lead a team into multitudes of life and death battles. A pudgy face with no eyebrows conveys... Whoopi Goldberg?
I hope Marvel Diamond Select comes out with a better version of Cyclops. The top of his legs and his shorts looks weird. His thighs look too small or thin for his yellow shorts. I prefer Cyclops's 90's look also.
The unmasked head looks like the masked head without the visor and hair sculpt on, this is a big fail considering Marvel Select is about the sculpt and less about articulation a big fail. In my opinion.
+Diamond Select as cyclops is my favourite xman and I absolutely love the new articulated direction you are taking with your figures, I must say that this particular figure is a bit of a let down. I am hoping that there will be a new future release of this character complete with all of the current advancements you have made.
Really is a shame that he's much much taller than Marvel Legends. I would have loved to be able to add him to my collection. Same with MS' Winter Soldier and Black Widow.. they blow the Hasbro ones out of the water! But they are gigantic standing next to other figures :/ The Classic Ultron was nice though, and his height is not an issue. Any chance at a Classic comic look (Pre-Annihilation) Ronan? MS could probably do a much better job than Hasbro, again.
Diamond Select You are totally right about that but that version lends itself a lot for some detailed muscles or clearly more articulation. This itsn't heavy detailed or articulated in the torso well enough. That combined with the fact that it would have been really cool to have a removeable vizor lazer in it makes me go mweh. I love the Marvel Select Gambit which has the "lazer cards" the staff and a much more detailed overall look. This one looks like a figure from the 80's because of the lack of detail and extra's, which isn't why I buy Marvel Selects. No offence to the sculptor but you guys have done a better job on so many other figures this once puts the brand a bit to shame.
You say you like his head sculpt. But there's something terribly wrong with it. His forehead doesnt extend forward enough. A man would def have to be a mutant to have those proportions to his head. But, hey, he is... just aint supposed to be so obvious. I think this figure really sucks. For such a simple design, they should have put more work into it!
Other than storm this might be the very worst marvel select figure. Compare this cyclops to marvel selct Hulk, magneto, cable etc. Cat beleive he gave this figure a good review.

Out of curiosity, are you saying you would have preferred a different facial expression? Cyke isn't the most emotive of mutants.
I'm not the biggest fan of the head but I do think it looks okay. My only gripe is the way the glasses are done.

Man, this figure looks boring. I love his 90's look but more the cartoon version than this one.
