Thank you for your information and gig cam. If you have to take one cheap bass, May I recommend the ESP LTD B206SM 6 String to cover all the bases and cover some guitar territory as well. It has a very good sound with active PUs , is sturdily built and goes for around $700. The 6 string is a little easier for sight reading IMO.
